ETAPE 1
– CONNECTION TO A TV SET
HDMI A/V (Composite video and 2CH AUDIO)
Scart Video component and 2CH AUDIO (YUV + Stereo RCA)
1. Switch on your TV set and select the correct Audio-Video input (AV) to which your AivX-385HDRW is connected
(HDMI, Composite, Scart, Component)
2. Connect the supplied mains adapter to your AivX-385HDRW
3. Switch on the toggle switch located on the rear panel.
4. Press the Power button from the front panel or from the supplied remote control (make sure that the batteries are
installed).
5. Wait for your AivX-385HDRW to complete the initialization (about 10-15 seconds)
Most of the HDMI TV sets do not support the interlaced
signal (576i/480i), which is a default video output setting
of this unit. Please press the TV system button on the
remote control to get the correct signal when you
connect your TV set to the HDMI cable.

STEP 2 – Formatting the hard disk
When you switch on your AivX-385HDRW, the following dialog box will be displayed.
Select OK by pressing the Enter button on your remote control or by the OK button on the front panel.
NOTE
•By performing a formatting, this will erase the whole content and the data from the hard disk. Please format the hard disk after
saving the content and the important data.
• The above dialog box cannot be displayed on your computer if it is connected with an HDMI cable. In this case, please try
again by connecting the TV set with a scart cable or a RCA cable.
TIMESHIFT buffer disk capacity
1. Press ▲, ▼to set the buffer time of the DELAYED RECORDING from 1 to 4 hours.
2. Press the ►button and select Next by pressing the Enter button or the OK button on the front panel.
NOTE : The hard disk space selected for the DELAYED RECORDING buffer can only be used for the DELAYED RECORDING.

Recording and Multimedia hard disk capacity
1. Press ▲, ▼to select each recording and multimedia partition capacity.
2. Press the ►button and select Next by pressing the Enter button or the OK button on the front panel.
NOTE :
Recording partition : the hard disk space on which you are recording the content of an AV input such as a decoder, a VCR
or a camcorder.
Multimedia partition : the hard disk space on which you copy AV files and photo files. Such as *.ts, *.tp, *.avi, *.mpg, *.jpg,
*.wma, *.ogg and so on.
Partition hard disk space
1. Press ▲, ▼to select the FAT32 and NTFS capacity in a multimedia disk space.
2. Press the ►button and select Next by pressing the Enter button or the OK button on the front panel.
NOTE : Please refer to the explanation of the file system before starting this section.

Performing the formatting
1. Press the ►button and select Format by pressing the Enter button or the OK button on the front panel and the
formatting will start.
2. Select OK by pressing the Enter button or the OK button on the front panel. Formatting is complete.
NOTE: Please do not format your computer again. AivX-385HDRW will consider it as a new HARD DISK if it is connected.

STEP 3 – Initial configuration
When you have formatted the HARD DISK of your AIVX-385HDRW, you can set the language, the time or LAN.
The following dialog box of the initial configuration will be displayed.
1. Select your language by pressing the ▲, ▼and Enter buttons to confirm.
2. Set date and time by pressing the numerical buttons and the ▲, ▼buttons then press Enter to confirm.
3. Select OK and press Enter when you are prompted to do so. Select Cancel and press Enter if you want to erase the
settings.

4. Select DHCP IP (Auto) or Fix IP (Manual) according to the IP status by pressing the ▲, ▼and press Enter to confirm.
oIf you select DHCP IP (Auto) the IP address will be set according to your network DHCP
oSelect Cancel if you do not want any available network or if you do not want to set it up now.
oSelect Fix IP (Manual), set LAN manually according to your network by pressing the numerical keys or the ▲, ▼
buttons then press Enter to confirm.
5. Select OK and press Enter when you are prompted to do so. Select Cancel and press Enter if you want to cancel the
settings.
NOTE: Please refer to the network settings explanation of the complete manual to get more information. The above dialog box
cannot be displayed on your TV set if it is connected with an HDMI cable. In this case, please try again by connecting the TV set
with a scart cable or a RCA cable.

STEP 4 – Copying a file
Connection of the AivX-385HDRW to the PC via the supplied USB port.
You can use your AivX-385HDRW as an external hard disk. Before connecting your AivX-385HDRW to your computer, it is
recommended that you stop all the functions and that you switch off the power supply before switching to the Stand-by mode.
1. Connect your AivX-385HDRW to your computer with a USB cable (the end shape is different such as the A and B
types)
2. After the connection, switch on the appliance
3. Double-click on the ‘My Computer’ icon of your computer and you will see the recently created driver.
NOTE
• The name of the driver can differ from one computer to another
• Please connect your AivX-385HDRW to a USB 2.0 port to get a high speed transfer of the file (up to 480Mbps).
4. You can copy the Audio-Video content from a computer to your AivX-385HDRW operating as an external hard disk.
FAT 32 is limited to a file, which is less than 4GB. If you want to copy a file whose size is above the limit, please copy
it onto the player with a NTFS partition or divide the file according to the size limit with the appropriate program.
5. Switch off the power supply once the connection to the computer is performed and switch on again after the
connection to the TV set is completed.
6. You can connect a USB cable while your AivX-385HDRW is operating. You can see the following OSD menu when
your AivX-385HDRW is connected as an external HARD DISK.
Select OK by pressing the ◄, ►buttons and press the Enter button to
confirm.
Select Cancel by pressing the ◄, ►buttons and press the Enter button to
cancel.
oYour AivX-385HDRW will switch to an external hard disk mode
and the dialog box will disappear from the TV set screen.
oYour AivX-385HDRW will switch back to a normal mode if you
stop the external hard disk mode by disconnecting the USB
cable. In this case, switch off the power supply and switch on
your AivX-385HDRW again.

STEP 5 – Recording from a decoder
Connection to an Audio/Video device (Satellite, TNT, cable decoder, VCR, …)
Scart A/V (Composite video and 2CH AUDIO)
1. Press the Guide button on your remote control or on the front panel (HOME).
2. Select Video by pressing the ◄, ►buttons and press the Enter button on the remote control or the OK button on the
front panel.

3. Press the Source button to select the A/V source that you want to register. Each time you press this button, the A/V
source changes:
If you set up the TV Input set on ‘enabled’ in the Setting menu to register directly from your TV set, the A/V input switches as
follows :
Each source is displayed in the upper right corner of your screen.

4. Press the REC button to start recording.
5. Press the PAUSE button if you want to momentarily stop recording.
6. Press the REC button to continue recording.
7. Press the STOP button to stop recording.
If the decoder (terrestrial, satellite or cable) is connected to an AV input of your AivX-385HDRW, you can record the TV program.
In this case, you must use the up and down Channel button or the remote control of the decoder to change the channel.

STEP 6 – File playback
AV file PLAYBACK
You can read different audio, video and photo files from the installed HARD DISK, from the USB storage device and from the
network. Please first check the formatting guide which is supported before starting this section.
1. Press the Guide button on your remote control or on the front panel (HOME).
2. Select Browser by pressing the ◄, ►buttons and press the Enter button on the remote control or the OK button on
the front panel.
3. Select the audio-video file type you want to play from Music, Movies and Photo mode by pressing the ◄, ►. The
selected type will be enlarged. Only one type of AV file selected will be displayed on the screen. You can only change
the root menu- please go to this root menu first if you want to change by pressing the ▲, ▼buttons.
4. Select the device from which the requested files come from by pressing the ▲, ▼buttons. Press the Enter button on
the remote control or the OK button on the front panel.
5. Select the menu from which the requested files are located in the menu list by pressing the ▲, ▼buttons. Press the
Enter button on the remote control or the OK button on the front panel.
6. Select the requested file by pressing the ◄, ►buttons and press the Enter button to play full screen.

PLAYBACK of a recorded track
1. Press the Guide button on your remote control or on the front panel (HOME).
2. Select the REC list by pressing the ◄, ►buttons and press the Enter button on the remote control or the OK button
on the front panel.
3. Select the requested track from the list of recorded tracks by pressing the ▲, ▼buttons and press the Enter button to
play full screen.

STEP 7
– Wireless configuration WIFI
Wireless network (WIFI)
1. Connect the USB WIFI pen (included with the AivX-385HDRW) to the USB HOST port at the rear of the product.
Note : The WIFI network is only available if the USB WIFI pen is connected to the unit and if your WIFI router is lighted up and
operational.
2. Press the Guide button and select wireless setup (WIFI) by pressing Enter button.

3. Select « MODIFY » then press OK (you can also be connected at an existing network by selecting « CONNECTION »
if an access point already exist).
4. Select « INFRASTRUCTURE » by pressing the ENTER button if you want to use a wireless router (WIFI) or if you
want to be connected at a wireless access point WiFi (with a « box »). If you use a network interface card WIFI on
your PC, select « PEER TO PEER » for a direct connection with a wireless computer.
5. Select « AUTO » and press ENTER (you can use the manual configuration if you know the SSID of your network, that
is the name of your access point) overall auto configuration are used.
6. The name list of the SSID available is displayed.
7. Select the security type of your access point, if there are no password select « open system » otherwise WEP or
WPA according to your configuration, confirm by pressing the ENTER button.

8. Enter your password according to your security type (WEP for example) throw the keypad of the remote control. Press
« ENTER » to confirm.
9. You can choose DHCP IP (Auto) or Fix IP (manual) according to the IP status of your LAN connection
10. The settings list will appear, confirm by pressing ENTER button.
11. You will find the IP ADRESS, the subnet mask and the default gateway if the connection is OK.
12. Press ENTER, the IP ADRESS will appear with the WiFi gauge signal.
NOTE
oIt is recommended to configure your network only after USB WIFI pen is correctly connected to the AivX-385HDRW.
oPlease verify that the anti-virus or the firewall do not block the network access to the unit.
You may suffer a momentary disconnection of the AV content when playing by the wireless network because of the network
speed, the input capacity or because of the AV include the HD files. In that case, please watch them after have copied the files
into the hard disk.
