A. Pre-lnstallation Notes

2. Vehicle Preparation
a. Rolldown the driver'ssidewindow to avoidlocking the keys inthe vehicle
duringinstallation.
Remove the left lower dash trim to access the underdashwiring:
• Remove two(2) phillipsscrews atthe bottom ofthe kneeblocker panel.
• Remove one plasticclip onthe side ofthe dashclosest tothe driver's door,
c. Remove the negativebatterycable.
3. System Preparation
a. Remove the 10-amp fusesfrom the moduleWHITE/BLACK and PINKwires.
Plug the wiring harnessesinto the remotekeylessentrymodule.
Note: The suppliedwiringharness is pre-cut to properlength.

Locate the keylessentry
connector:
•The connector is taped toa
vehicleharnessthatcrosses
behind the metalkneeprotector
under the driver'sdash.
•The connector isa white 10-pin
plugwith a matingconnectorattached. The matingconnector hasa single
wireloop.
•To locate the connector,reachbehind the kneeprotector ata pointjust to
the right ofthe fuseblock.Pull the connectordown for access.
Remove the matingconnector and discard.Replacewith the 10-pin
connectorfrom the keylessentryharness.

C. Programming Button

Onthe keylessentryharness,locate the
programmingbutton. The button is taped and
tie-wrapped tothe harnessnear the 18-pin
connector (Fig.3a).
Carefully cutthetie wrap.Unravel the button
wiring and pullbuttonawayfromharness (3b).
Remove the buttonhousing by turning it
counter-clockwise (Fig. 4).
Using a drillwith a 5/16" bit, carefullydrill a hole
in the left lowerdashtrim,below the diagnostic
connector(whitearrow, Fig. 5). Hold the diagnosticconnectorharness
clear ofthe drill bit. Drill the holefrom
the inside ofthe panel to preventburrs
or scratches.
Clearaway any burrs or plasticdebris
from bothsides ofthe hole.
Insert the button into the hole from
behind.Secure the buttonfrom the front
by re-attaching the buttonhousing.Turn
clockwise to tighten (Fig. 4).

D. System Power-Up and Programming
The systemwill not operate until the followingsteps are completed.
1. Re-connect the negativebatterycable.
2. Turn the ignition keytothe "ON"position (donot start the engine).
3. Insert the 10-amp fusesinto the moduleWHITE/BLACK and PINKwires.
Note:Transmitter's are preprogrammed. To program additional transmitters see
Section J on page 6 of thismanual.
E. Installation Testing
Note: Ifan incorrectresponse to testprocedure is observed, refer tothe
correspondinginstallationstep and verify installation.Also, refer to Section J for
transmitterprogramminginformation.
1. Close all vehicledoors(withdomeswitch setto "doors" - middle position).
2. Press the LOCKbutton ononeofthe remotetransmitters.
2.1 All vehicle doors will lock.
2.2 The parking lights will flash once.
3. Press the UNLOCKbutton ononeofthe remotetransmitters.
3.1The driver's door will unlock.
3.2The vehiclecourtesy light and DOORAJAR indicator will turn on.
3.3The parking lights will flash once.
4. Press and holdUNLOCK onthe sametransmitter.
4.1All doors will unlock.
5. Repeatsteps 3 and4 with the secondremotetransmitter.
F. Warning LabelInstallation
1. Open the hood and clean any dirt oroil from the radiatorsupport inthe area
locateddirectly in front ofthe battery.
2. Adhere the label tothe radiatorsupport(label has largelettering).
3. Clean any dirt andoil from the black/yellow (ground)batterycable inan area
locatedapproximately 3" from the batteryterminal.
4. Adhere the batterycable label tothe cleanarea (label has smalllettering).

G. Mounting the Module
Mount the keylessentrymodule to
the bracketusing the supplied
screws and nuts as shown(Fig. 6).
The hole atthetopofthe module
bracketwill fit onto a threadedbolt
behind the fuseblock. To find the
bolt,reachbehind the fuseblock.
There aretwo boltsextending
downward, mountedapproximately
3 inchesapart. The modulebracket

will mount tothe boltclosest tothe
passengerside ofthe vehicle.
There maybea relay or wire
harnesswhichimpedesaccess to
the mounting bolt. Movetheseitems
outofthewayto gainaccess.
Fitthe bracketonto the bolt,with the
moduleSUBARUlabelfacing the
front ofthe vehicle(Fig. 7).Usethe
supplied 10mm nutto secure the
bracket and module.Tighten to
45-60 in/lbs.

H. Notes on System Operation
Parkinglightswillflashwhen the vehiclebattery is disconnected and
reconnected. To stoplights from flashing, either:
• PressremotetransmitterUnlockbuttononce.
•Turn ignition tothe "ON"position and pressprogrammingbutton for
one second(mounted on trimbeneathdiagnosticconnector).
The vehiclecourtesy light and DOORAJARindicatorwillstay onfor60
secondsuponexiting the vehicleunless the door is lockedwith the remote
transmitter.
The instrumentpanellightswillflashwhen the parkinglightsflash.
IMPORTANT!!!
If installing the SecurityUpgradesystem (H7110FS200) atthe sametime
asthe KeylessEntrysystem, refer nowtothe SecurityUpgrade
instructions(page 2)to continue the installation procedure.

I. Finishing the Installation
1 . Route the WHITE/BLACKantennawire (8" wireextendingfrom the side of
the module)awayfrom the module and surroundingharnesses.Keep the
antenna as straight as possible.Makesure theendofthe antenna does not
makecontactwithmetal.
Note: The antenna iscuttothe appropriate length to ensureoptimum
performance. Donotcutoradd wire tothe antenna.
2. Using the suppliedshort tie wraps,secure the systemwiringharness to
existingwiringharnesses so thatthey are concealed and clear ofany
movingvehiclecomponents.
3. Replace the left lowerdashtrim panel.
4. Place the Owner'sManual in glovebox.
Installation isnow complete.
J. Additional Transmitter Programming (5
1. Opendriver'sdoor.
2. Press and hold the programmingbutton.
In fifteen (15) seconds the door locks will cycle three (3) times to indicate
that the system is in the transmitter programming mode. DO NOT release
the programming button.
3. Press the LOCKbutton two(2) times ononeofthe transmitters.
The door locks will cycle each time a button is pressed to confirm
programming.
4. Repeatstep 3 forthe secondtransmitter.
5. Release the programmingbutton and turn the ignition keytothe "OFF"
position.
6.Go back to Section E.
