REPLACEMENT OF THE MOTOR CORD PROTECTION
First of all you have to replace the motor cables protection tube with a plastic spiral. The
tube is rigid and it doesn’t allow the insertion of the new battery, it must be replaced with
the supplied cable protection.
Proceed as follows:
Open the scooter, disconnect and remove the battery NIMH.
Take the red connector from the motor using a small flat screwdriver turn down the slats
restraint contact and pull the contacts.
Remove the protective cables tube.
Re-insert again the two contacts in the red connector, check that the two restraint blades
contacts are properly inserted.
WARNING!!!
The red w re must match the + s gn of the connector, the black w re must
correspond to the – s gn of the connector, f the polar ty s reversed, the electron c
control of the eng ne w ll be rreparably damaged and must be replaced.

Once the red connector case is inserted, hold it with one hand and with the other try to pull
the wires one per time to check that these don’t detach. If cables should slip off re-plug
the contact and try again.
To wrap the cable protection around wires, take at the same time the two wires together
and, starting from the connector, enlarge the coils by wrapping the wires with the cable
protection.

BATTERY REPALCEMENT
To transform the model XJOY14 into an XJOY 37, you have to replace the battery and
use a different spacer and a different ballast seawater.
As per the manual of model XJOY 14, open the hood, unscrew locking battery latch and
remove the battery.
For use in fresh water, replace the red spacer used on the model XJOY 14 with the green
spacer, place the lithium ion battery instead of the NiMH pack, paying attention to the
centering placed under the battery, tighten the locknut and close the cover.
For use in sea water, replace the ballast of the model XJOY 14 with the ballast of the
model XJOY 37 placing it exactly in the same position.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The difference between the two models is only in the battery pack
and charger. All other relevant information, instructions or warnings are to be considered
valid like those specified for the model XJOY 14.

B ATTERY CHARGE ( GENERAL RULES )
• CAREFULLY READ THE BATTERY CHARGER INSTRUCTIONS MANUAL.
• The battery should only be charged w th the spec f cally suppl ed battery
charger.
• Charge the battery n a well-vent lated, covered area, away from flammable
objects or l qu ds, away from crowded rooms and n no way n the house.
• The battery must be connected to the charger us ng the spec f c connector.
• REMOVE THE BATTERY from the ADV and wa t at least two hours from the
last use before charg ng.
• Do not connect any dev ce to the battery when charg ng.
• The battery should be kept off the ADV and only nserted and connected to
the eng ne mmed ately before use: t should be d sconnected and removed
mmed ately after use
H OW TO CORRECTLY CHARGE THE BATTERY
• Remove the battery from the ADV.
• Place it in a protected, well-ventilated area away from people and flammable
materials.
• FIRST connect the charge connector to the battery charger socket (varies
according to the model).
• NEXT connect the charger to the mains.
• Wait until the charge ends (see battery charger instructions)
• Wait until the battery cools. In any case, replace the battery in the ADV before use.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CHARGE DAMAGED, LEAKING, RUSTED
OR OTHERWISE DAMAGED BATTERIES.

L I ION BATTERY INFORMATION
The Li-on battery pack is made of several cells connected together and placed inside a
suitable container. The red connector is to connect the battery to the motor, the connector
on top the upper battery lid is the charge port..
If a perceptible drop in distributed power is noticed during ADV use, immediately stop use
and turn off using the switch.
NEVER leave the battery connected to the ADV when not in use.
harge the battery at least every 3 months.
harge the battery before each use, letting the battery cool before inserting it in the ADV.
A new battery will only work at full regime after some complete charge cycles.
The battery may be charged hundreds of times, but deteriorates in time. When autonomy
is significantly lower than normal, it is time to replace it.
Only use Suex srl approved batteries, exclusively charging them with their approved
battery chargers. When the battery charger is not in use, disconnect it from the power
socket.
Even when not in use, a fully charged battery slowly discharges due to the self-discharge
phenomenon; charging the batteries within 24 hours of use is recommended.
Extreme temperatures may affect battery charge capacity.
Leaving the battery in hot or cold climates such as, for example, a closed car in mid-
summer or mid-winter, reduces battery capacity and life. Always try to keep batteries at a
temperature between 10° and 40° . The maximum cherging temperature range is
between -20° to +60° .

Do not use the battery for purposes other than those prescribed.
Never use damaged battery chargers or batteries.
Accumulators must be kept outside the ADV, in dry locations, (relative
humidity 65% +-5%) and at a temperature between 15° and 25° , with
the electric connectors away from metallic objects that can short circuit the two battery
poles, with serious fire hazard, damages to people and property.
Do not wet electr cal contacts or the battery.
Dispose of batteries observing local regulations such as, for example, recycling them. Do
not dispose of batteries with domestic waste.

I DEAL BATTERY CHARGING CONDITIONS
Suggest room temperature from 10° to 35° (ideal 20° )
Battery temperature at charge start 20° .
onditions other than those described above may influence charging as well as the
number of possible charges with acceptable yield.
I DEAL BATTERY DEPLETION CONDITIONS
We recommend using discharging batteries at a temperature between 5° and 35° .
To avoid short-term deterioration and potential cell polarity inversion, the battery should
never, n any case, fully deplete. A cut off device was installed in the battery for this
reason (see specific paragraph).
During ADV use, it is best not to constantly drive at maximum speed suspending frequent
starts, making brief pauses, to give the battery time to better conduct the chemical reaction
required to generate power, avoiding abrupt cell heating.
I MPORTANT NOTE ON BATTERY DEPLETION !
After ADV use, always remember to cut off motor power using the switch.
This is because the ADV electronic control, even if the motor is not running, consumes a
small amount of energy which, in the long term, depletes the battery. The cut off device
prevents the battery from overdischarging, but if, for any reason, it malfunctions, the
battery would die.
“CUT OFF” BATTERY PROTECTION SYSTEM , OPERATING PRINCIPLE
AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
The electronic battery protection system from total accidental depletion is located inside
the battery and connected in sequence between the battery and ADV motor.
Its purpose is to prevent excessive cell depletion. When accumulators deplete, voltage
lowers until it reaches a limit value. When this value is reached, cut off prevents the battery
from further depleting by interrupting power distribution.
When the cut off is triggered, the battery no longer outputs voltage to the connector.
To continue battery use, it must only be charged with the specific battery charger (see
battery charger instruction manual) and restore the circuit.
The cut off device should only trigger in exceptional cases and this event should not occur
during normal battery use since correct use does not include excessive depletion.

P ROCEDURE TO FOLLOW IN THE EVENT THE CUT OFF DEVICE IS
TRIGGERED
In the event the cut off system triggers, IT IS IMPORTANT you proceed as follows:
1. Follow the ADV opening procedure.
2. Disconnect the motor battery power connector.
3. Remove the battery from the ADV.
4. Let the battery rest for at least 2 hours. This is the minimum time required, in this
case, for the battery to cool and return to awaiting charge conditions.
5. onnect the battery charge connector to the battery charger.
6. harge following the instructions in the battery charger manual.
IMPORTANT NOTE!
Also remember that the ADV nev tably stops runn ng when the
cut off dev ce s tr ggered. Th s event s not hazardous to the
d ver n any way s nce the d ve was planned tak ng nto account
that ADV use s not cons dered a safety dev ce or rescue means.

L ITHIUM ION BATTERY , SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS :
All the recommendations contained in this document must be strictly applied in order to
ensure a safe and optimal use of the battery.
Misuse of the battery may lead it to overheat or ignite and cause serious injury. Make sure
to follow the safety rules listed below:
Never short circuit the battery terminals
Do not open the battery
Do not reverse the polarity
Do not disassemble the battery
Do not subject the battery to excessive mechanical stresses
Do not expose the battery to water or condensation
Do not place the battery on or near fires, or other high temperature locations (> 70° ).
Doing so may cause the battery to overheat or ignite. Using the battery in this manner may
also result in a loss of performance and a shortened life expectancy.
Immediately disconnect the battery if, during operation, battery emits an unusual smell,
feels hot, changes shape, or appears abnormal in any other way. ontact SUEX if any of

B ATTERY STORAGE
During all significant storage periods, a battery must preferably be disconnected from any
external load, unless it is proved that the device is in switch off mode and doesn’t draw any
leakage current from the battery.
- Short period storage (less than 3 months) : Dipslay reading between 30% and 50%.
- Long period of storage (more than 3 months and less than 1year) the following procedure
must be followed:
- heck the display regularly at least every 2 months, don’t fall below 20%.
- If necessary recharge the battery with the specified charger until it reaches 50-60% of the
charge.
T RANSPORTATION
According to the transport regulation, Li-Ion batteries can be transported with specific
packaging.
Product classification shipment by air “only A r cargo”.
Restricted for transportation ( lass 9).
The UN number for shipping Li-Ion batteries is UN3480 (when transported alone).
Please refer to the IATA packing instruction 965 for shipping UN3480 batteries.
The UN number for Li-Ion batteries contained in, or packed with, equipment is UN 3481.
Please refer to the IATA packing instruction 966 for shipping UN3480 batteries packed
with equipment.
Please refer to the IATA packing instruction 967 for shipping UN3480 batteries contained
in equipment.
In all cases, please refer to local rules for transportation.

battery power, for example :

In addition to the percentage of charge remaining, it displays also the error codes.

S OSTITUZIONE DELLA PROTEZIONE DEL CAVO DEL MOTORE
Prima di tutto bisogna sostituire il tubo di protezione dei cavi del motore con una spirale in
plastica. Il tubo essendo rigido non consente l’inserimento della nuova batteria, deve
essere sostituito con una spiralina.
Procedere come di seguito:
Aprire lo scooter, scollegare la batteria NIMH ed estrarla.
Prendere il connettore rosso proveniente dal motore, con un cacciavite piatto piccolo,
abbassare le lamelle di ritenuta contatto ed estrarre i contatti.
Sfilare il tubo di protezione cavi.
Inserire nuovamente i due contatti nel connettore rosso, accertandosi che le due lamelle di
ritenuta contatti siano ben inserite.

Una volta inserito il connettore, trattenerlo con una mano e con l’altra provare a tirare uno
alla volta i cavi, per verificare che non si sfilino se si dovessero sfilare inserire nuovamente
il contatto e riprovare.
Per avvolgere la spiralina ai cavi, prendere i due cavi contemporaneamente e partendo dal
connettore allargare mano a mano le spire avvolgendo i cavi con la spiralina.

S OSTITUZIONE DELLA BATTERIA
Per trasformare il modello XJOY 14 in modello XJOY 37, basta sostituire la batteria e
utilizzare un diverso distanziale e una diversa zavorra per acqua di mare.
ome da manuale del modello XJOY 14, aprire la calotta, svitare la ghiera di fermo
batteria ed estrarre la batteria.
Per l’uso in acqua dolce, sostituire il distanziale rosso utilizzato sul modello XJOY 14 con il
distanziale verde, collocare la batteria al litio ione al posto di quella al NiMh, facendo
attenzione al centraggio posto sotto la batteria, riavvitare la ghiera di blocco e richiudere la
calotta.
Per l’uso in acqua di mare, sostituire la zavorra del modello XJOY 14 con la zavorra del
modello XJOY 37 collocandola esattamente nella stessa posizione.
NOTA IMPORTANTE: la differenza tra i due modelli consiste solo nel pacco batteria e
relativo caricabatteria tutte le altre informazioni, istruzioni o avvertenze sono da
considerare valide quelle indicate per il modello XJOY 14.

C OME RICARICARE LA BATTERIA IN MODO CORRETTO
• Estrarre la batteria dall’ADV.
• Posizionarla in un luogo protetto, aerato e lontano da cose infiammabili o persone.
• PRIMA collegare il caricabatteria al connettore di ricarica batteria (diverso a
seconda del modello) posto sulla batteria.
• DOPO collegare il caricabatteria alla rete elettrica.
• Attendere la fine carica (vedi istruzioni caricabatteria)
• Aspettare che la batteria si raffreddi. In ogni caso riposizionare la batteria all’interno
dell’ADV prima dell’utilizzo.

I NFORMAZIONI SULLA BATTERIA L I I ON
La batteria Li-Ion è realizzata tramite il collegamento di diverse celle tra di loro, poste
all’interno di un apposito contenitore, con all’esterno un cavo con connettore rosso
destinato al collegamento della batteria al gruppo propulsore ed un connettore apposito
per il collegamento del caricabatteria.
Se percepite un sensibile calo di potenza durante l’uso dell’ADV, non insistete con l’utilizzo
e spegnete l’ADV tramite l’interruttore.
Non lasciare MAI la batteria connessa all’ADV se non utilizzata.
Ricaricare la batteria almeno una volta ogni 3 mesi.
Ricaricare la batteria prima di ogni utilizzo, avendo cura di lasciar raffreddare la batteria
prima di inserirla nell’ADV.
Una batteria nuova opererà a pieno regime solo dopo quattro o cinque cicli completi di
caricamento e scaricamento.
La batteria può essere ricaricata centinaia di volte, ma con il tempo si deteriora. Quando
l’autonomia risulta notevolmente ridotta rispetto al normale, è giunto il momento di
sostituirla.
Utilizzare solo batterie approvate da Suex S.r.l. ricaricandole usando esclusivamente il
caricabatteria approvato dalla stessa. Quando il caricabatteria non viene usato, scollegarlo
dalla presa di rete.
Se non utilizzata una batteria, anche completamente carica, si scarica lentamente per
effetto del fenomeno di autoscarica, è comunque consigliato ricaricare le batterie nelle 24
ore precedenti l’utilizzo.
Temperature estreme possono incidere sulla capacità di carica della batteria.
Lasciare la batteria in ambienti caldi o freddi, come ad esempio in un’auto completamente
chiusa in piena estate o pieno inverno, ridurrà la capacità e la durata della batteria stessa.
ercare sempre di tenere la batteria ad una temperatura compresa tra 10° e 40° .
L’intervallo di temperatura massimo per la ricarica della batteria è tra i -
20 ° e i + 60 ° .
NON GETTARE LE BATTERIE SUL FUOCO, ESPLODONO!
Non utilizzare la batteria per scopi diversi da quelli prescritti.
Non utilizzare mai caricabatteria o batterie che risultino danneggiati.
La custodia degli accumulatori deve avvenire all’esterno dell’ADV, in
luogo asciutto, (umidità relativa 65% +-5%) e temperatura compresa tra i 15° ed i 25° ,
con i conn ttori l ttrici lontani da ogg tti m tallici che possano cortocircuitare i due
poli della batteria, con grave pericolo di incendio, danni a cose e persone.
Non bagnar i contatti l ttrici o la batt ria.
Disfarsi delle batterie applicando le regolamentazioni locali, ad esempio riciclandole. Non
gettarle tra i rifiuti domestici.

C ONDIZIONI IDEALI PER LA RICARICA DELLA BATTERIA

numero di ricariche possibili con una resa accettabile.
C ONDIZIONI IDEALI PER LA SCARICA DELLA BATTERIA
Raccomandiamo di utilizzare la batteria ad una temperatura compresa tra 5° e 35° .
Per evitarne il deterioramento in tempi brevi la batteria non d v ss r , in n ssun
caso, mai scaricata d l tutto per questo all’interno della batteria è stato inserito il
dispositivo di cut off (vedi paragrafo dedicato).
Durante l’utilizzo dell’ADV è buona norma non procedere costantemente alla massima
velocità sospendendo l’avvio frequentemente, facendo delle brevi pause, in questo modo
di dà il tempo alla batteria di attuare meglio la reazione chimica necessaria alla
generazione della corrente, evitando bruschi riscaldamenti delle celle.
N OTA IMPORTANTE SULL ’ ESAURIMENTO DELLA BATTERIA !
Dopo l’utilizzo dell’ADV, ricordarsi di interrompere sempre l’alimentazione al motore,
tramite l’utilizzo dell’interruttore.
Questo perché il controllo elettronico dell’ADV, anche se il motore non è in funzione, ha un
piccolissimo consumo energetico, che a lungo porta alla scarica della batteria. L’intervento
del dispositivo di cut off elimina la possibilità che la batteria si sovrascarichi, ma se per
qualche motivo esso non dovesse funzionare, il risultato sarebbe quello della completa
scarica della batteria.
S ISTEMA DI PROTEZIONE BATTERIA “CUT OFF” PRINCIPIO DI
FUNZIONAMENTO E ISTRUZIONI PER L ’ USO
Il sistema elettronico di protezione della batteria dalla scarica totale accidentale è collocato
all’interno della batteria e collegato in serie tra la batteria e il motore dell’ADV.
La funzione è quella di impedire la scarica eccessiva delle celle con possibile pericolo di
inversione della polarità di una o più celle, con conseguente possibile distruzione del
pacco batterie con potenzialità di creare danni anche gravissimi a cose e/o a persone.
Durante la scarica degli accumulatori, la tensione si abbassa fino a raggiungere un valore
limite a quel punto il cut off impedisce, interrompendo l’erogazione della corrente, che la
batteria possa essere scaricata ulteriormente.
Quando il cut off interviene la batteria non eroga più tensione al connettore.
Per ripristinare la situazione di utilizzo della batteria è necessario ricaricarla
esclusivamente per mezzo dell’apposito caricabatteria (vedi manuale utilizzo del
caricabatteria) e ristabilire il circuito.

L’intervento del cut off è da ritenersi eccezionale e tale evento non dovrebbe verificarsi
durante il normale utilizzo della batteria, in quanto il corretto uso del mezzo non prevede la
scarica eccessiva della stessa.
M ODALITÀ DA SEGUIRE IN CASO DI INTERVENTO DEL CUT OFF
In caso di intervento del sistema cut off, E’ IMPORTANTE procedere come di seguito:
1. Seguire la procedura di apertura dell’ADV.
2. Sconnettere il connettore di alimentazione del motore della batteria.
3. Estrarre la batteria dall’ADV.
4. Lasciare la batteria a riposo almeno per 2 ore. E’ il tempo minimo necessario, in
questo caso, per permettere alla batteria di raffreddarsi e riportarsi allo stato di
attesa ricarica.
5. ollegare il connettore per la ricarica della batteria al caricabatteria.
6. Procedere con la ricarica, come da manuale istruzioni del caricabatteria.

B ATTERIA L I I ON , RACCOMANDAZIONI DI SICUREZZA :
Tutte le raccomandazioni contenute in questo documento devono essere strettamente
applicate in modo tale di utilizzare correttamente ed in sicurezza la batteria.
Non cortocircuitare la batteria.
Non aprire o disassemblare la batteria.
Non invertire la polarità del connettore.
Non sottoporre la batteria a stress meccanici eccessivi, come forti vibrazioni o scossoni.
Non esporre la batteria a umidità eccessiva, all’acqua o condensazione.
Non disporre la batteria vicino a fuochi o il locali con temperature (> 70° ), così facendo
potreste surriscaldare la batteria con pericolo di inizio di incendio. Utilizzare la batteria non
seguendo le raccomandazioni consigliate, può significare una sensibile diminuzione delle
prestazioni e aspettativa di vita.
Disconnettere immediatamente la batteria se durante l’utilizzo dovesse emettere uno
strano odore, se dovesse diventare particolarmente calda o comunque apparire anormale.

C ONDIZIONI PER L ’ IMMAGAZZINAMENTO .
Durante il periodo di immagazzinamento, la batteria deve essere disconnessa da qualsiasi
carico elettrico esterno, accertarsi che il connettore rosso sia disconnesso onde evitare
qualsiasi assorbimento elettrico.
Per un breve periodo di stoccaggio (tipicamente meno di 3 mesi) è corretto riporre la
batteria con visualizzato sul display un valore compreso tra 30% e 50%.
Per un lungo periodo di immagazzinamento (tipicamente più di 3 mesi e meno di 1 anno)
la seguente procedura deve essere seguita:
- ontrollare regolarmente il display almeno ogni 2 mesi, non scendere sotto il 20%.
- Se necessario ricaricare la batteria con il caricabatteria specifico fino al raggiungimento
del 50-60% della carica.
T RASPORTO DELLA BATTERIA .
In accordo con le attuali regolamentazioni sul trasporto, la batteria Li ion deve essere
trasportata utilizzando uno specifico imballo.
La batteria può essere trasporta via aerea solo in “AIR ARGO”, non può viaggiare in
aereo passeggeri.
La batteria è soggetta a restrizioni al trasporto ( lass 9).
La normativa per il trasporto della batteria è la UN 3480 (se trasportata da sola).
Fare riferimento alle istruzioni IATA per l’imballo 965 per spedire la batteria con norma UN
3840.
La normativa per il trasporto della batteria è la UN 3481 (se trasportata all’interno
dell’ADV).
Fare riferimento alle istruzioni IATA per l’imballo 966 per spedire la batteria con norma UN
3840 trasportata nello steso imballo dell’ADV.
Fare riferimento alle istruzioni IATA per l’imballo 966 per spedire la batteria con norma UN
3840 trasportata all’interno dell’ADV.
In ogni caso fare riferimento o chiedere o chiedere al trasportatore che intendete utilizzare.

L EGENDA DISPLAY
Sul copechio del pacco batteria, è visibile un display a quattro cifre dove si legge la
percentuale di carica residua della batteria. iò significa che se leggiamo per esempio la
cifra 100, la batteria sarà in piena carica (per esempio al termine della ricarica) se
leggiamo 70, la batteria sarà al 70% della carica massima.
Oltre alla percentuale di carica residua, sul display è possibile leggere alcuni codici errore,
essi possono comparire in casi particolari, sotto elencati, attenersi scrupolosamente alle
note scritte.
