Thank you for purchasing the Suhr SL-67 Hand Wired amplier.
OVERVIEW
The Suhr SL-67 is a no compromise 50 watt version of our popular SL-68 hand wired
amplier. Housed in a “small box” enclosure, the SL-67 is light, portable, and built to
deliver the complete range of classic British-style tones at any volume. From sparkling
cleans to screaming high-gain Variac™ style overdrive tones, the SL-67 responds
dynamically to every nuance of your playing style and instrument with just a turn of
your guitar’s volume control.

POWERING INSTRUCTIONS
With the Power, HI/LOW Select Switch in the Off position and the Standby Switch in the
Standby position, ip the power switch to the desired power (HI/LOW) position. Wait
sixty seconds and then ip the Standby Switch to the on position.
To power down, simply ip the Standby Switch to the On position and then ip Power,
HI/LOW Select Switch to the Off position.
POWER SELECTOR SWITCH (3-position)
OFF: Power is switched OFF
HI: ON, normal operation
LOW: In the late 70’s an L.A. based Hard-Rock guitarist burst on the scene with a
highly saturated tone that he achieved by pairing a vintage British head, with a Variac
voltage controller that he used to drop the power to create the “brown sound”. This
setting delivers that tone by dropping the voltage (approximately 25%) which changes
the SL-67’s feel from tight and aggressive, to spongy and saturated, while delivering
incredible sustain.
NOTE: Dimming of the power indicator light in LOW mode is normal.
STANDBY SWITCH
ON: Amplier is in Standby
STANDBY: Amplier is active
PRESENCE
Adjusts the amount of high frequencies. Turning it clockwise will add more cut and
sparkle.
BASS
Adjusts the amount of low end. Turning it clockwise increases the amount of low
frequencies, giving you a fuller tone. Turning it counter clockwise will reduce the effect
and tighten up the bottom-end, useful when performing at louder volumes.
MIDDLE
Adjusts the midrange. Turning it clockwise increases the amount of mids, giving your
tone a fatter response. Turning it counter clockwise will produce a mid-scooped sound.
TREBLE
Adjusts the top end. Turning it clockwise increases the amount of treble, giving your
tone clarity and brightness. Turning it counter clockwise will produce a warmer sound,
excellent for dialing in smooth uid-like lead tones.
VOLUME I
Adjusts the overall output level of Channel I.
VOLUME II
Adjusts the overall output level of Channel II.
A WORD ABOUT THE SL-67’s DYNAMICS AND YOUR GUITAR’S VOLUME CONTROL
The SL-67 responds dynamically to every nuance of your playing style. When you pluck a string, your guitar’s pickups convert that energy to a voltage that is sent through the input
circuitry. With your guitar’s volume control at maximum (using humbuckers) that voltage is approximately one volt. Turning your instrument's volume control down, or picking softer,
decreases the voltage which changes the characteristics and amount of distortion. Due to the SL 67’s input circuitry design you can achieve a wide spectrum of overdriven tones by
simply adjusting your guitar’s volume control.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS (continued)
BRIDGING OR JUMPING THE CHANNELS
Bridging or Jumping the channels will unlock a palette of sounds and expand the SL-
67’s possibilities. Begin by plugging your guitar into the top (high sensitivity) input
of Channel I, then run a short instrument patch cable from Channel I’s bottom (low
sensitivity) input to the top (high sensitivity) input of Channel II, then blend Volume I and
Volume II controls to dial in a wealth of new and unique tones.
NOTE: When only using Input I, turning up Input II's Volume control will increase gain
slightly.
INPUTS
CHANNEL I INPUT (top)
Has high sensitivity (which offers more gain) and a brighter tonal response.
NOTE: This input is most commonly used.
CHANNEL I INPUT (bottom)
Has low sensitivity and offers a slightly warmer tone.
CHANNEL II INPUT (top)
Has high sensitivity and offers a normal/bassier tonal response.
CHANNEL II INPUT (bottom)
Has low sensitivity and a normal/bassier tonal response.
5

MASTER VOLUME
Adjusts the SL-67‘s overall output level and offers the exibility to dial up rich, clasic overdrive at any volume.
NOTE: Turning the SL-67's Master Volume to 10 will remove it from the circuit.
TUBES
The SL-67’s tube complement consists of two EL-34 power tubes and three 12AX7 preamp tubes.
SPEAKER OUTPUTS
Two loudspeaker outputs wired in parallel with 3-way impedance selector switch for 4Ω, 8Ω & 16Ω.
IMPORTANT: To avoid serious damage to your amplier, never operate it without a speaker or suitable load.
