DESCRIPTION:
The SL8 RR 2PUMP is a swimming pool con roller ha hea s a swimming pool by pumping pool wa er hrough solar
collec or panels.
If solar gain is available he solar sys em will hea he pool o he solar limi (sol limi ). Solar has a ime lockou ha
preven s hea ing ou side of he ime se (defaul 09:00 – 19:00, see no e 5).
CONTROLLER MOUNTING:
The con roller enclosure mus be firmly a ached o a nearby solid fix ure by ei her he wo moun ing lugs or direc
a achmen hough he con roller. If moun ing hrough he con roller ensure he power cord is disconnec ed from he
mains supply hen remove he enclosure fron cover by urning he four corner locks so each arrow poin s o he ‘O’
marked on he fron cover. Inser wo moun ing screws diagonally hrough he oval holes in he enclosure, refi fron
cover and urn he four corner locks o he ‘I’ posi ion.
The power cable is 1.8m long and should be plugged direc ly in o a general power ou le , no in o an ex ension lead.
CIRCULATING PUMP(S):
The solar circula ing pump plugs in o he righ hand 240Vac socke marked as SOLAR PUMP. The lef hand 240Vac
socke marked as AUXILIARY will con rol he second pump which s ar s 3 seconds af er he SOLAR PUMP. The
maximum combined curren is 10 AMPS 2400W.
FLOW SWITCH:
This con roller is no fi ed wi h a flow swi ch, ins ead i s hard wired in ernally o have permanen flow, be aware ha a
message will appear for 30 seconds indica ing ha i is wai ing for prime 30 before solar s ar -up.
TEMPERATURE SENSORS:
The pool sensor mus be fi ed in o he suc ion line of he solar boos pump, preferably in a posi ion ou of direc
sunligh . For re ro-fi sys ems he pool sensor mus be fi ed in he suc ion line before he ake off Tee fi ing for he
solar boos pump. I is recommended ha a 14.5mm hole be drilled in he PVC pipe, his can be carried ou using a
Don ek PD01 grinding drill or a small pilo hole can be drilled and a 14.0mm drill-bi used spinning in a coun er
clockwise direc ion o minimize he chance of sha ering pipe. Inser he gromme in o he pipe and gen ly push in he
black sensor barb. The green sensor plug is o be fi ed o he plug socke marked POOL.
This uni has been designed o elimina e he need o run a empera ure sensor cable from he solar con roller o he
roof, his is replaced by a Solar Powered roof empera ure ransmi er ha only ransmi s when in direc sunligh , and
a receiver ha calcula es he roof and pool empera ure urning on he solar pump when required.
As he uni opera es in a UHF radio band, reflec ions and moving objec s can cause a ransmission o be corrup ed
wi h a subsequen indica ion “ROOF SIGNAL NOT RECEIVED” on he display. Up o 10 ransmissions can be missed
(and las valid reading is kep for 10 minu es) before pump ac ion will occur and he solar pump will urn off. If his
occurs, and if he solar condi ions are s ill favorable, he solar pump will no urn on again and resume normal
opera ion unless i has received a valid ransmission.
The remo e roof ransceiver ob ains i s opera ing power from a solar panel, i will no opera e if here is no sun or if
here is significan cloud cover. Obviously solar hea ing would no occur in such condi ions.
Due o he possibili y of recep ion ghos ing and elec rical in erference he Transmi er may be required o be moved o
an al erna ive posi ion, his may be as li le as wo me ers and keep in mind ha he roof sensor cable may be
ex ended 20 me ers if required. The main con roller should be moun ed away from o her elec rical appliances as far as
possible o reduce he chance of in erference. If he uni is o be ins alled in a me al shed here may be recep ion
issues and he con roller may need o be op ioned wi h a remo e an enna or moved ou side. A Power subs i u e cable
is supplied for ins alla ion es ing on cloudy days – Simply clip a 9Vol Transis or Ba ery on o he Ba ery Snap
supplied and subs i u e he lef hand green plug marked PV. Remember o refi original plug when es ing is over.

UP=ON DOWN=OFF
MANUAL MODE allows you o manually se he aux pump o ‘on’ by pressing he Up bu on or ‘off’ by pressing he
Down bu on.
Pressing Enter will re urn you o he SETTINGS MENU. You can also keep pressing Enter o oggle he fil er pump from
‘on’ o ‘off’ and vice versa.
MANUAL MODE will ime ou , af er 24 hours he SL8 will re urn o normal opera ion.

When you en er he TEMPERATURE menu you may change he solar hea er empera ure limi se ing (SOL LIMIT) by
pressing he Up/Down bu ons, if no change is required simply push Enter.
Fac ory defaul is for SOL LIMIT is 30°C.

You can use Up/Down o change he selec ed op ion, Enter o accep .
SUMMER MODE is he normal opera ion of hea ing he swimming pool.
TROPICAL MODE is selec ed if you wish o cool he swimming pool, he solar pump will run if he roof empera ure is
colder han he pool un il SOL LIMIT is ob ained; no e ha his is mos likely o occur a nigh so herefore his fea ure
is unsuppor ed on RR models.
WINTER MODE, when selec ed you will be promp ed o selec he s ar mon h and end mon h of win er, his assis s in
he sys ems off-season main enance and save energy as solar gain may be available bu swimming empera ure canno
be achieved. If hea demand is se o OFF a 3 minu e flush of he solar ma ing occurs be ween 10:00 and 16:00
providing he roof empera ure is equal or grea er han he pool, bu if ha condi ion does no occur a solar sys em
flush will be forced o occur a 16:00.
If hea demand is ON he sys em opera es similar o normal mode bu solar pump ac ivi y is moni ored and will force a
3 minu e flush if solar has no been ac ive for seven days, no e he uni may flush if win er mode is selec ed on he day
of ins all.
4) CLOCK
This menu allows you o adjus he calendar da e and ime of day.
The flashing value is he adjus able value, use he Up/Down bu ons o adjus he value and press En er o accep he
displayed value and move o he nex se ing un il all values are se .
5) SAVE & EXIT
When his menu is selec ed, push Enter o save ALL se ings, he uni will re urn o normal opera ion au oma ically.
No e: If any of he menu i ems are lef una ended for 3-4 mins he menu will ime ou and au oma ically save all
se ings and re urn o opera ion.

Pressing he Enter bu on once will display he above message for ~3 seconds, simply wai and he uni will re urn o
normal opera ion.
If you Enter is pressed for a second ime wi hin a 3 second period, he display will indica e you have en ered Manual
mode, opera ion is he same as manual mode in he menu wi h he only difference being he imeou value is 4 Hours.
NOTES:
1. If a sensor faul is de ec ed he SL8 will display which sensor and wha he faul is.
2. Should power be in errup ed for any reason, he SL8 will resume normal opera ion when power is res ored, all
informa ion will have been kep .
3. Tempera ure sensors used wi h his uni are Digi al and are accura e o 0.5 Deg. C, no calibra ion is required.
4. The sensor cable wi h he hin race is he posi ive and is usually fi ed o he righ hand side of he green plug,
incorrec polari y will be displayed.
5. Solar s ar and end imes may be changed by holding he up bu on while power is applied.

WARRANTY
This product is covered by a limited 3 year warranty against component failure or
faulty workmanship from the date of installation.
A faulty unit should be returned in the first instance to the dealer from which the unit
was purchased.
Damage to the unit due to misuse, power surges, lightning strikes or installation that
is not in accordance with the manufacturer’s instruction may void the warranty.
Warranty does not cover travel costs to or from installation site. nit must be returned
to manufacturer for repairs.
If the power cord is damaged, do not use the controller; return the unit to the supplier
for repair.
