Introduction
First of all, many thanks for purchasing this Sweex modem 56K PCI. By means of this
modem you can easily connect to the Internet via the telephone line. You can also use
this modem to send and receive faxes.
To ensure this product operates correctly, we advise you to carefully read this manual
first. If despite this manual you still experience problems during installation or operation
of this product, go to www.sweex.com and look under the heading service & support.

Installation
Take the following precautionary measures prior to installing the hardware:
Ensure that the PC is switched off and remove the feeder cable from the power supply.
Also, disconnect the printer and monitor cables (they have their own power supply) to be
absolutely sure that the PC is not live. Now unscrew the computer casing. After having
unscrewed the computer casing, you must ensure that you are free of any static
electricity. Do this by touching a (neutral) pipe of the central heating system or an
unpainted water pipe. Please note that you must not use magnetic screwdrivers. Before
you proceed any further, shortly touch the iron frame of the PC casing. Furthermore,
make sure that you minimise contact with any contact points of the PC Card or the
memory. Find a vacant PCI slot and remove the metal guard plate part of the computer
casing in front of the relevant slot. On occasion the card does not allow to be inserted in
the PCI slot smoothly. Should this be the case, do not force anything, but try another
available slot. Once the card has been successfully installed, check whether all other
cards are still properly inserted in the PCI slots. It is possible that the other PCI cards
are lifted up slightly when installing a new PCI card; as a result, the relevant cards or
even the entire PC may no longer operate correctly. You can now replace the casing on
the computer base and correctly reconnect all cables to and from the PC. Now switch on
the PC again. Windows will automatically recognise the new found hardware. Click
“cancel” in the “add hardware” box. Insert the installation CD in the CD-ROM drive, click
“Drivers” and select the appropriate operating system. Now follow the on-screen
instructions in order to complete the installation. Once installation is complete, the
computer must be restarted before the modem is ready for use.

Any products under the Sweex brand are warranted for a period of three years. We do
not grant support or warranties for any software and/or (rechargeable) batteries
included. Warranty claims are only settled via the dealer where the product concerned
was purchased.

Installation
Treffen Sie vor der Installation der Hardware die folgenden Sicherheitsmaßnahmen:
Schalten Sie den PC aus und ziehen Sie den Stecker aus der Steckdose. Trennen Sie
auch die Drucker- und Monitorkabel, denn diese verfügen über eine eigene
Spannungsversorgung; so können Sie sicher sein, dass der PC spannungsfrei ist.
Schrauben Sie jetzt das Computergehäuse auf. Nachdem Sie das Computergehäuse
aufgeschraubt haben, müssen Sie dafür sorgen, sich selbst von eventueller statischer
Elektrizität zu befreien. Dazu können Sie unter anderem ein (blankes) Rohr der Heizung
oder eine nichtlackierte Wasserleitung berühren. Achten Sie darauf, hierbei keinen
magnetischen Schraubendreher zu verwenden. Berühren Sie nun noch einmal den
Metallrahmen des PC-Gehäuses. Ferner gilt, dass Sie möglichst wenig die Kontakte von
PC, PC-Karte oder Speicher berühren dürfen. Wählen Sie einen freien PCI-Steckplatz
und entfernen Sie das Schutzplättchen aus Metall, das sich vor dem betreffenden
Steckplatz im Computergehäuse befindet. Es kann vorkommen, dass sich die Karte
nicht einfach in den PCI-Steckplatz stecken lässt. Wenn sich dies ereignet, sollten Sie
nichts erzwingen, sondern einen anderen freien Steckplatz versuchen. Wenn die Karte
erfolgreich montiert worden ist, überprüfen Sie, ob die übrigen Karten noch auf die
richtige Weise in den PCI-Steckplätzen stecken. Es kann vorkommen, dass durch die
Montage einer PCI-Karte die anderen PCI-Karten ein Stück nach oben kommen,
wodurch die betreffenden Karten oder sogar der gesamte PC nicht mehr arbeiten. Jetzt
können Sie das abgenommene Gehäuse wieder montieren und alle vorher getrennten
Kabel wieder an den PC anschließen. Schalten Sie den PC wieder an. Windows wird
die neue Hardware automatisch erkennen. Klicken Sie im Fenster “Hardware
hinzufügen” auf “Abbrechen”. Legen Sie die Installations-CD-ROM in das CD-ROM-
Laufwerk, klicken Sie auf “Drivers” und wählen Sie dann Ihr Betriebssystem aus. Folgen
Sie nun den Anweisungen auf dem Bildschirm, um die Installation abzuschließen. Nach
der Installation müssen Sie den Computer neu starten, danach ist das Modem
einsatzbereit.
Garantie
Für alle Artikel, die unter dem Namen Sweex geführt werden, gilt ein Garantiezeitraum
von drei Jahren. Für mitgelieferte Software, wiederaufladbare Batterien und Akkus

Installazione
Prima di installare l’hardware è necessario prendere le seguenti precauzioni: Accertarsi
che il PC sia spento ed estrarre il cavo di alimentazione dalla presa. Per essere certi
che il PC non sia sotto tensione, scollegare anche i cavi di stampante e monitor che
dispongono di alimentazione propria. Svitare la custodia del computer. Dopo averla
aperta, liberarsi di qualsiasi forma di elettricità statica. A tal scopo sarà sufficiente, ad
esempio, afferrare un tubo (bianco) del riscaldamento centralizzato o una condotta
dell’acqua non verniciata. Fare attenzione a non utilizzare un cacciavite magnetico.
Sfiorare appena il telaio in acciaio del PC; inoltre, fare attenzione a toccare il meno
possibile i punti di contatto del PC, della scheda PC o della memoria.Individuare una
slot PCI libera e rimuovere la placchetta di protezione metallica che si trova davanti alla
slot in questione. Potrebbe accadere che la scheda non si inserisca facilmente nella slot
PCI; in questo caso non insistere, ma provare ad inserirla in un’altra slot libera. Una
volta montata la scheda, controllare che anche le altre schede siano inserite
correttamente nelle rispettive slot PCI. Potrebbe infatti capitare che montandone una, le
altre schede PCI si sollevino leggermente, provocando il non corretto funzionamento
della scheda in questione o dell’intero PC. Rimontare la protezione rimossa sulla
custodia del computer e ricollegare tutti i cavi precedentemente scollegati dal PC.
Riaccendere il PC. Windows riconoscerà automaticamente il nuovo hardware. Nella
schermata “Aggiungi hardware” cliccare su "Annulla”. Inserire il CD di installazione nel
drive CD-ROM e cliccare su “Driver” selezionando poi il giusto sistema operativo.
Seguire le istruzioni sullo schermo per completare l’installazione. Dopo l’installazione
riavviare il computer ed il modem è pronto per l’uso.

alcuna garanzia o assistenza sul software in dotazione, sulle batterie ricaricabili e sugli

Installatie
Tref voor het installeren van de hardware de volgende voorzorgsmaatregelen: Zorg
ervoor dat de PC uitstaat en en haal de voedingskabel uit de voeding. Haal ook de
printer- en de monitorkabel los, deze beschikken namelijk over een eigen voeding, zodat
je er zeker van bent dat de PC spanningsvrij is. Schroef nu de computerbehuizing open.
Nadat je de computerbehuizing hebt open geschroefd, moet je ervoor zorgen dat je
jezelf ontdoet van eventuele statische elektriciteit. Dit kan onder andere door een
(blanke) buis van de CV of een ongeschilderde waterleiding vast te pakken. Let wel op
dat je hierbij geen magnetische schroevendraaiers gebruikt. Raak nog even het ijzeren
frame van de PC behuizing aan. Verder geldt dat je zo min mogelijk de contactpunten
van de PC, PC Card of het geheugen moet aanraken. Lokaliseer een vrij PCI slot en
verwijder het metalen beschermplaatje dat in de computerbehuizing voor het
desbetreffende slot zit. Het kan voorkomen dat de kaart zich niet gemakkelijk in het PCI
slot laat plaatsten. Wanneer dit voorkomt, forceer dan niets, maar probeer een ander vrij
slot. Wanneer de kaart succesvol is gemonteerd, controleer dan ook of alle overige
kaarten nog op de juiste manier in de PCI sloten zitten. Het kan voorkomen dat door het
monteren van een PCI card, de overige PCI cards een stukje omhoog komen, waardoor
de desbetreffende cards of zelfs de gehele PC niet meer werkt. Nu kun je de
verwijderde kap weer op de computerbehuizing monteren en alle kabels weer correct
aansluiten die je van je PC hebt verwijderd. Zet de PC nu weer aan. Windows zal
automatisch nieuwe hardware herkennen. Klik op “annuleren” in het scherm “hardware
toevoegen”. Steek de installatie-CD in de CD-ROM drive en klik op “Drivers” en kies
vervolgens het juiste besturingssysteem. Volg nu de instructies op het scherm op om de
installatie te voltooien. Na de installatie moet je de computer opnieuw opstarten en is het
modem klaar voor gebruik.
Garantie
Voor alle artikelen die gevoerd worden onder de naam Sweex geldt een garantietermijn
van drie jaar. Op meegeleverde software, oplaadbare batterijen en accu’s geven wij
geen support of garantie. Afhandeling van garantie vindt alleen plaats via de dealer
waar het betreffende artikel is aangekocht.
Alle merknamen en daaraan verbonden rechten genoemd in deze handleiding zijn en

Installation
Avant d’installer le matériel, prenez les mesures de précaution suivantes : Veillez à ce
que le PC soit éteint et retirez le cordon d'alimentation de la prise. Débranchez
également le câble de l’imprimante et celui de l’écran (ceux-ci disposent en effet d’une
alimentation propre) afin d’être certain que l’ordinateur est bien hors tension. Dévissez à
présent le boîtier de l’ordinateur.
Après avoir ouvert le boîtier de l’ordinateur, assurez-vous de n’être porteur d’aucune
électricité statique. Pour ce faire, vous pouvez notamment saisir un tuyau (à nu) du
chauffage central ou une conduite d’eau non peinte. Faites bien attention à ne pas
utiliser de tournevis magnétique. Touchez encore une fois la structure métallique du
boîtier de l’ordinateur. Veillez ensuite à toucher le moins possible les points de contact
de l’ordinateur, de la carte PC ou de la mémoire. Localisez une fente PCI libre et ôtez la
plaque de protection métallique se trouvant dans le boîtier de l’ordinateur devant la fente
concernée. Il peut arriver que la carte n’entre pas facilement dans la fente PCI. Lorsque
cela se produit, ne forcez pas et essayez plutôt une autre fente libre.
Lorsque la carte est correctement montée, contrôlez que toutes les autres cartes se
trouvent encore bien en place dans les fentes PCI. Il peut arriver que, en raison du
montage d'une carte PCI, les autres cartes PCI soient légèrement surélevées, ce qui
peut entraîner le non-fonctionnement de la carte concernée, voire de tout l’ordinateur.
Replacez à présent la plaque de protection et reconnectez tous les câbles que vous
avez retirés du PC. Redémarrez maintenant l’ordinateur. Windows détecte
automatiquement le nouveau matériel. Cliquez sur « Annuler » dans l’écran « Ajout de
matériel ». Insérez le CD d’installation dans le lecteur de CD-ROM, cliquez sur
« Pilotes » et sélectionnez ensuite le système d’exploitation correspondant. Suivez les
instructions à l’écran pour terminer l’installation. Après l’installation, vous devez
redémarrer l’ordinateur. Le modem est alors prêt à l’emploi.

Une garantie de trois ans s’applique à tous les articles vendus sous le nom Sweex. Les
logiciels, piles et batteries rechargeables accompagnant les produits ne bénéficient pas
de l’assistance ou de la garantie. La prise en charge de la garantie est exclusivement

la carcasa del ordenador, usted debe desprenderse de la electricidad estática que
pueda tener su cuerpo. Esto puede hacerse, por ejemplo, asiendo un tubo (sin
revestimiento) de la calefacción o una cañería de agua sin pintar. No utilice para este fin
destornilladores magnéticos. A continuación, toque brevemente la estructura metálica

nuevo el ordenador. Windows detectará automáticamente el nuevo hardware. Pulse
“Cancelar” en la pantalla “Añadir hardware”. Inserte el CD de instalación en la unidad
CD-ROM y pulse “Controladores”, seleccionando a continuación el correcto sistema

Instalação
Aquando da instalação do hardware, deve-se ter em atenção os seguintes conselhos:
Verifique se o seu PC se encontra desligado e desligue o cabo de alimentação.
Desligue o cabo da impressora e do monitor – que têm o seu próprio dispositivo de
alimentação - para ter a certeza de que o seu PC não tem qualquer tipo de corrente
activa. Desaparafuse a caixa do CPU e abra-a. A seguir, certifique-se de que não há

placa estiver concluída com sucesso, verifique se todas as outras placas se encontram
correctamente nas ranhuras PCI. É possível que após a montagem da placa PCI, as
outras placas PCI fiquem um pouco mais elevadas; como resultado, as próprias placas
ou até mesmo o próprio PC pode deixar de funcionar. A seguir, pode voltar a montar a
caixa do CPU e ligue correctamente todos os cabos que desligou no início. Volte a ligar
o seu PC. O Windows detecta automaticamente o novo hardware. Clique em “anular”
na janela “adicionar hardware”. Introduza o CD de instalação em anexo na estação de
CD-ROM e clique em “Drivers” e escolha o sistema operativo correcto. Em seguida,
siga as instruções indicadas no ecrã para concluir a instalação. Após a instalação deve
reiniciar o seu computador e o modem estará pronto para ser utilizado.

Εγκατάσταση
Πριν την εγκατάσταση του υλισμικού λάβετε τα ακόλουθα προληπτικά μέτρα:
Βεβαιωθείτε ότι οΗ/Υείναι απενεργοποιημένος και αφαιρέστε το τροφοδοτικό καλώδιο
από την παροχή ρεύματος. Επίσης, αποσυνδέστε τον εκτυπωτή και τα καλώδια της
οθόνης (τροφοδοτούνται αυτόνομα) για να είστε απολύτως σίγουροι ότι οΗ/Υδεν έχει
ρεύμα. Τώρα ξεβιδώστε το περίβλημα του υπολογιστή. Αφού ξεβιδώσετε το περίβλημα

Βρείτε μια διαθέσιμη θυρίδα PCI και αφαιρέστε τη μεταλλική προστατευτική πλακέτα
από το περίβλημα του υπολογιστή, μπροστά από τη σχετική θυρίδα. Καμία φορά, η
κάρτα δεν μπορεί να εισαχθεί στη θυρίδα PCI με ευκολία. Σε αυτή την περίπτωση δεν

Πατήστε “άκυρο” στο πλαίσιο “προσθήκη υλισμικού”. Εισάγετε το CD εγκατάστασης στη
μονάδα του CD-ROM, πατήστε “Μονάδες” και επιλέξτε το κατάλληλο λειτουργικό
σύστημα. Τώρα ακολουθήστε τις οδηγίες που εμφανίζονται στην οθόνη για να
ολοκληρώσετε την εγκατάσταση. Μόλις ολοκληρωθεί ηεγκατάσταση, ουπολογιστής θα
πρέπει να επανεκκινηθεί προτού χρησιμοποιήσετε το μόντεμ.

Установка
Перед установкой оборудования примите следующие меры предосторожности:
Убедитесь, что ПК отключен иотсоедините силовой кабель от источника питания.
Также отсоедините кабели принтера имонитора (они питаются от индивидуальных

Открутите корпус компьютера. После снятия корпуса компьютера, убедитесь, что
на Вас нет статического электричества. Чтобы это сделать, прикоснитесь к
(нейтральной) трубе системы центрального отопления или неокрашенной
водопроводной трубе. Обратите внимание! Запрещается использовать
намагниченные отвертки. Перед выполнением дальнейших действий прикоснитесь
кметаллической раме корпуса ПК. Затем, постарайтесь избежать контактов с
любыми точками контактов на материнской плате имодулях памяти. Найдите
свободный разъем шины PCI иуберите металлическую планку с
соответствующего разъема корпуса компьютера. Иногда карту бывает невозможно
вставить вразъем PCI, не приложив значительных усилий. Вэтом случае не
используйте силу, апопробуйте вставить карту вдругой свободный разъем. После
успешной установки карты проверьте правильность инадежность установки всех
остальных карт всоответствующих разъемах PCI. При установке новой PCI-карты
возможна вероятность небольшого смещения по вертикали других карт в
разъемах PCI. Врезультате этого смещения соответствующие платы идаже весь
ПК может не работать.
Теперь можно установить корпус системного блока изаново подключить все
кабели, обращая внимание на правильность подключения.
Включите ПК снова. Windows автоматически обнаружит новое оборудование.
Нажмите «Отмена» вдиалоговом окне «Добавить новое оборудование». Вставьте
установочный компакт-диск вустройство чтения компакт-дисков, нажмите
«Drivers» (Драйверы) ивыберите
соответствующую операционную систему.Следуйте появляющимся на экране
указаниям для завершения процесса установки. После завершения установки и
для обеспечения работоспособности модема необходимо перезагрузить
