Setup should take between 5-10 minutes
Before setting up your SwipeSimple Register, please ensure that you have the following items:
• Swift B250 card reader
• Swift B250 charging stand
• Micro USB cable (connect one end to the
charging stand and the other to the mPOP)
SwipeSimple Register is compatible any SwipeSimple supported card
reader hardware, although the Swift B250 and charging stand are
highly recommended.
• Star Micronics mPOP cash drawer and receipt
printer
• Power cable (connect one end to the mPOP
and the other to a power outlet)
• 2.28 in x 85 ftthermal receipt paper roll

STEP 1a CONNECTING THE MPOP
First, we’ll set the equipment up and connect them to a power source (power strip, wall outlet, etc.)
Connect the power cable to the underside of the mPOP, and an available outlet or power strip. Turn it on using the
switch, a blue light will illuminate.
The front of the mPOP has a star symbol.
Connect one end of the power cable to the
underside of the mPOP.
Optional: Wire the power cable accordingly using
the cable hooks to ensure that the mPOP sits
firmly on the counter.
Turn on the mPOP by pushing the 1or | button
on the switch on the lower-left side. The “lightning
bolt” at the front of the mPOP will be illuminated.
Connect the other end of the power
cable to a power source.

STEP 1b LOADING THE RECEIPT PAPER ROLL
To load the receipt paper roll, pull out printer, open printer cover, and set roll of paper as illustrated. Please ensure that
you’re using a 2.28 in x 85 ft thermal receipt paper roll.
Push to Release Printer
Push the front face of the printer to unlock
and pull out the printer .
Paper Roll Setup
Set the paper roll with the paper rolling downward
in the direction as illustrated.
Close Printer Cover
Pull the end of the paper straight out ,
sandwich the paper and close the printer cover .
Excess paper will be cut automatically.
Return Printer to Original Position
Return the printer to its original position by pushing the
printer until it clicks.
Open Printer Cover
Pull the opening lever down and forward
(towards you) , and lift to open the printer cover .

CONNECTING THE SWIFT B250 CHARGING STAND
OPTIONAL: CONNECTING YOUR DEVICE (TO CHARGE VIA THE MPOP)
Place the Swift B250 reader into the charging stand with the NFC symbol ( ) facing towards you. Securely
fasten your reader by pushing the reader into the charging stand until it clicks.
Plug the smaller end of the micro USB into the underside of the charging stand with the USB symbol facing the
back of the stand. Using the other end of the micro USB, connect the charging stand to the mPOP, using a port on
the underside of the mPOP as illustrated.
Connect your charging cable to your device and the mPOP using another USB port on the underside of the mPOP
as illustrated.

COMPLETING THE SETUP
PAIRING THE MPOP WITH YOUR DEVICE
Setup is complete when the “lightning bolt” on the mPOP is illuminated, your device is switched on, and theLED
indicator above the power button on the Swift B250 is blinking blue.
After setting up your devices, we’ll now pair the mPOP with your iOS or Android device.

2a. On your device, go to Settings > Bluetooth.
2b. Turn Bluetooth on.
2c. Locate your mPOP’s serial number in the
Bluetooth devices section.
The serial number can be located on the
underside of the mPOP, or on the box in which
your mPOP came in.
Format: STAR mPOP-CXXXX, with the last
four digits representing the last four digits of
your mPOP’s serial number.
i. If you are using an iOS device, in the “Other
Devices” section, select the printer with your
STAR mPOP-CXXXX serial number.

ii. If you are using an Android device, in the
“Available Devices” section, select the printer
using STAR mPOP-CXXXX serial number.
2d. Once selected and successfully paired, the
mPOP’s serial number will move from “Other
Devices” to “My Devices” and be shown as
“Connected” on your iOS device.
Once selected and successfully paired,
the mPOP’s serial number will move from
“Available Devices” to “Paired Devices” and
be shown as “Paired” on your Android device.

5a. Once you’ve logged into your SwipeSimple
account, connect the mPOP to your device
to try printing a receipt and opening the cash
drawer.
To connect the mPOP, go to Settings >
Device Management on the SwipeSimple
app.

PRINTING A TEST RECEIPT AND TESTING THE CASH DRAWER
Once the SwipeSimple app is installed, open it and login to your SwipeSimple account using the login information
from the Welcome Email you received.
This email will have the subject line Welcome to SwipeSimple.
If you have downloaded SwipeSimple on your device,
please go to Step 4.
3a. To download SwipeSimple on your iOS
device, go to the App Store, and search for
“SwipeSimple - Point of Sale”.
To download SwipeSimple on your Android
device, go to the Play Store, and search for
“SwipeSimple”.

5b. Select the printer using your STAR mPOP-
CXXXX serial number.
It may take a few seconds for your device to
detect the printer when connecting for the first
time.
To refresh the list of devices, simply pull and
release the Device Management panel.
Once connected, the selected printer will be shown as
“Connected”.
5c. Tap on “Print Test Receipt” to print a receipt via
the mPOP with all the information on it
(including the header and footer) before running
a transaction.
5d. Tap on “Open Cash Drawer” to test cash
drawer or open it outside of a sale.

6a. Ensure that the Swift B250 is turned on, a blue
light should be illuminated above the power
button.
STEP 6 CONNECTING THE SWIFT B250
After connecting the mPOP, we’ll now connect the Swift B250 with your device. Please note that the Swift B250
does not need to be paired with your device, connection is done entirely through the SwipeSimple app.

5e. Tap on “Set Default Printer” if you are using an
iOS device, or check the box if you are on an
Android device to print a receipt during a
transaction.

6b. To connect the card reader, go to Settings >
Device Management on the SwipeSimple
app.
6c. Select the card reader with your Swift B250’s
serial number.
i. The serial number can be located at the back
of the Swift B250, or on the side of the box in
which your Swift B250 came in.
Format: Swift XXXX, with the last four digits
representing the last four digits of your Swift
B250’s serial number.
It may take a few seconds for your device to
detect the card reader when connecting for the
first time.
To refresh the list of devices, simply pull and
release the Device Management panel.
i. If you are using an Android device, tap on
“Connect” to connect your device with the
Swift B250.

Now you’re ready to take transactions!

Once connected, the selected reader will be shown as
“Available”.
6e. Tap on “Set Default Reader” if you are using an
iOS device, or check the box if you are on an
Android device to skip connecting the Swift
B250 before running a transaction.
To print receipts automatically at the end of every
transaction, go to Settings > Receipts on the
SwipeSimple app.
7a. Set the number of receipts to print automatically
by selecting between “0copy”, “1copy”, and
“2copies”.
Please note that you must set a default printer
prior to taking transactions, and the selected
printer must be available in order for paper
receipts to be generated automatically.

ISSUES CONNECTING THE MPOP
Ensure that your mPOP is receiving power.
1. Unplug the power cable from the underside of the mPOP, and plug it back in.
2. Unplug the other end of the power cable from your power source (an available outlet or power strip), and plug it
back in. Ensure that you are using a known working outlet.
1. Ensure that both the mPOP and your device are within a 10-15 ft range.
2. Ensure that your mPOP is not paired with another device.
a. To initialize Bluetooth setting back to factory
mode, press and hold the Bluetooth reset
button located to the left of U SB ports, on
the underside of the mPOP, until the Error LED
blinks red.
Please ensure that the mPOP remainsswitched
on during the process .
Bluetooth setting is successfully restored back
to factory mode when the Error LED stops
blinking.
b. In the Settings app of your device, go to Bluetooth and look for your mPOP’s serial number (format: STAR
mPOP-CXXXX, with the last 4 digits representing your mPOP’s serial number) as a listed device.
c. If you are using an iOS device, tap the blue “i” and select “Forget This Device”.
If you are using an Android device, tap on the gear icon and select “Unpair”.
d. Follow the steps in Step 2 to repair the mPOP with your device.
1. Ensure that your device’s OS and the SwipeSimple app are up to date. SwipeSimple Register requires iOS version
9.0 and above, Android version 5.0, and SwipeSimple 4.6.0 and above.
2. Ensure that you have a SwipeSimple Register account. In the SwipeSimple app > Settings > Edition, it should
display Register. If you have a different edition, please contact your Merchant Service Provider.
3. Ensure that both the mPOP and your device are within a 10-15 ft range.
4. Power down your mPOP, and power it back up again.

MPOP ERROR LED BLINKS RED
RECEIPT PRINTS OUT BLANK
ORDERING ADDITIONAL PAPER RECEIPT ROLLS
This most likely indicates that the printer cover is open, the printer is out of paper, the paper roll is not loaded
correctly, or that the cash drawer has failed to open.
1. Open the printer cover and remove the paper roll, or reload a new roll if your printer’s paper is running low.
2. Reload the paper roll and close the cover. Please ensure that the paper roll is loaded in the correct direction, see
Step 1b for more instructions.
3. Remove anything that may prevent the cash drawer from opening. In the SwipeSimple app > Settings > Device
Management, select your mPOP and Test Cash Drawer.
The mPOP uses thermal receipt paper, please ensure that you are using the recommended paper roll.
1. Open printer cover.
2. Flip paper roll and close printer cover.
3. Try re-printing a test receipt.
4. If receipts are still blank, it is likely that the paper roll isn’t a thermal receipt paper roll. Please contact your
Merchant Service Provider to purchase thermal receipt paper.
The mPOP features a thermal printer, and uses special thermal receipt printer that does not require any ink or toner
ribbon. Please ensure that you use the recommended receipt printer.

Additional receipt paper rolls are usually sold in a case of 12 rolls.
Please contact your Merchant Service Provider to purchase additional receipt paper rolls.

5. Toggle your device’s Bluetooth setting off and then on again. Ensure that the mPOP is paired in your device’s
Settings app.
6. Restart the SwipeSimple app.
7. In the SwipeSimple app > Settings > Device Management, pull and release the Device Management Panel to
refresh it.

7ISSUES OPENING THE CASH DRAWER
The mPOP has a maximum withstanding load of 17 lbs. A heavy load placed on the mPOP may prevent the cash
drawer from opening.
To open the cash drawer manually, use the multi-function button or lock release lever:
1. If your mPOP is connected to a power source, use the multi-functionbutton.

ISSUES POWERING UP THE SWIFT B250 CARD READER
1. Ensure that your mPOP is receiving power.
2. Unplug the U SB cables from your charging stand and device, and plug them backin.
3. Ensure that your charging stand is connected to the Standard 0.5A U SB port, and your device is connectedto
the Tablet 1.5A U SB port.
If you are using the charging stand:
1. Ensure that your charging stand is receiving power from the mPOP or an alternate power source.
2. Ensure that both ends of the U SB cable are firmly pluggedin.
3. Ensure that your Swift B250 card reader is securely fastened by pushing the card reader into the charging stand
until it clicks.
4. The Swift B250 card reader will automatically power up when it receives power, with the LED indicator above the
power button blinking blue.
If you are not using the charging stand:
1. Ensure that your Swift B250 card reader is fully charged.
2. To charge the Swift B250 card reader, use the enclosed micro U S B charging cable in the box.The LED indicator
above the power button will be red when charging, and will be off when fully charged. A full charge may take up to
2 hours.
3. To power up your Swift B250 card reader, press and hold the power button for 5 seconds. The LED indicator will
blink blue when successfully switched on.

2. If your mPOP is not connected to a power source, use the lock releaselever.
a. Lift printer and open cash drawer
Remove your mPOP unit from any brackets or
mounting kit.
Lift the mPOP from bottom right and locate the
lock release lever located at the back, on the
underside of the mPOP .
Insert the tip of a pen, or something slim, into
the lock release lever. Slide your pen towards the
front of the mPOP and the cash drawer will
open.

ISSUES ACCEPTING CREDIT CARDS
RESETTING THE SWIFT B250 CARD READER
Ensure that your Swift B250 card reader is connected with your device, and that the card reader’s LED indicator
above the power button is a solid blue.
Swiped Payments: Ensure that the magnetic stripe of the card is facing the front of the Swift B250 card reader when
swiping. Swipe the card in a slow fluid manner when prompted by SwipeSimple.
Dipped Payments: Ensure that the chip on the card is facing the front of the Swift B250 card reader when being
dipped. Ensure that the card remains inserted and is only removed when prompted by SwipeSimple.
Tapped Payments: Ensure that the payment device is being tapped on the area that displays the NFC, Apple Pay,
and Google Pay icons when prompted by SwipeSimple.
Use a paperclip and insert it into the small reset button located at the bottom of the card reader, to the right of the
charging port.

Ensure that your device’s OS and the SwipeSimple app are up to date. SwipeSimple Register requires iOS version 9.0
and above, Android version 5.0, and SwipeSimple 4.6.0 and above.
1. Toggle your device’s Bluetooth setting off and then on again. Ensure that both your device and Swift B250 card
reader are within a 10-15 ft range.
2. The Swift B250 card reader utilize Bluetooth Low Energy technology which does not require a pairing process.
Ensure that your Swift B250 card reader is not paired in the Settings app of your device.
3. Power down your card reader and switch it back on.
4. In the SwipeSimple app > Settings > Device Management, pull and release the Device Management panel to
refresh it.
