
MOWING SAFETY
•WARNING – Petro is high y f ammab e.
- store fue in containers specifica y designed for this purpose;
- refue outdoors on y and do not smoke whi e refue ing;
- add fue before starting the engine. Never remove the cap of the fue tank or add petro whi e the engine
is running or when the engine is hot.
- if petro is spi ed, do not attempt to start the engine but move the machine away from the area of spi age and
avoid creating any source of ignition unti petro vapors have dissipated;
- rep ace a fue tanks and container caps secure y.

•before using, a ways visua y inspect to see that the b ades, b ade bo ts and cutter assemb y are not worn
or damaged. Rep ace worn or damaged b ades and bo ts in sets to preserve ba ance;
•on mu ti-b aded machines, take care as rotating one b ade can cause other b ades to rotate.
MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE
•Keep a nuts, bo ts and screws tight to be sure the equipment is in safe working condition;
•never store the equipment with petro in the tank inside a bui ding where fumes can reach an open f ame or
spark;
•a ow the engine to coo before storing in any enc osure;
•to reduce the fire hazard, keep the engine, si encer, battery compartment and petro storage area free of grass,
eaves, or excessive grease;
•check the grass catcher frequent y for wear or deterioration;
•rep ace worn or damaged parts for safety;
•if the fue tank has to be drained, this shou d be done outdoors.
•when machine is to be parked, stored or eft unattended, ower the cutting means un ess a positive mechanica
ock is used.
TRAINING
A drivers shou d seek and obtain professiona and practica instruction. Such instruction shou d emphasize:
•the need for care and concentration when working with ride-on machines;
•contro of a ride-on machine s iding on a s ope wi not be regained by the app ication of the brake. The main
reason for oss of contro are:
i) insufficient whee grip;
ii) being driven too fast;
iii) inadequate braking;
iv) the type of machine is unsuitab e for its task;
v) ack of awareness of the effect of ground conditions, especia y s opes;
vi) incorrect hitching and oad distribution.
OPERATION
•Do not operate the engine in a confined space where dangerous carbon monoxide fumes can co ect;
•when using any attachments, never direct discharge of materia toward bystanders nor a ow anyone
near the machine whi e in operation;
•never operate the machine with defective guards, or without safety protective devices in p ace;
•do not change the engine governor settings or over speed the engine. Operating the engine at excessive
speed can increase the hazard of persona injury;
•disengage drive to attachments, stop the engine, and disconnect the spark p ug wire(s) or remove the
ignition key:
- before c earing b ockages or unc ogging chute;
- before checking, c earing or working on the machine;
- after striking a foreign object. Inspect the machine for damage and make repairs before restarting and
operating the equipment;
- if the machine starts to vibrate abnorma y (check immediate y);
•stop the engine and disengage drive to attachment:
- before refue ing;
- before removing the grass catcher;
- before making height adjustment un ess adjustment can be made from the operator’s position
