Your portable DVD player
Your portable DVD player plays digital video discs conforming to the universal
DVD Video standard. With it, you will be able to enjoy full-length movies with
true cinema picturequality, and stereo or multichannel sound (depending on
the disc andon your playbackset-up).
The unique featuresof DVD-Video, such as selection of soundtrack and
subtitle languages, andof different camera angles (again depending on the
disc), are allincluded.
What s more, parentallock lets youdecide which discsyour children willbe
able to see.Youwill find yourplayer remarkably easyto use withthe On-
Screen Display andplayer display incombination with theremote control.

Place the playeron a firm,flat surface.
Keep away fromdomestic heating equipmentand direct sunlight.
If the playercannot read CDs/DVDscorrectly, try using a commonly
available cleaning CD/DVDto clean thelens before takingthe player tobe
repaired. Other cleaningmethods may destroythe lens.
Always keepthe disc doorclosed to avoiddust on thelens.
The lens maycloud over whenthe player issuddenly moved fromcold to
warm surroundings. Itis then notpossible to playa CD/DVD. Leavethe
player in awarm environment untilthe moisture evaporates.
Precautions related tobattery recharge
1 Once thebattery is fullydischarged, immediately rechargeit (regardless of
whether you planto use thebattery or not)in order tomaximize the battery
life.
2 To charge thebattery, please turn off the playerand connect thisplayer to
AC mainsand the chargeindicator will turnon.

player to rechargeyour batteries.
2 Recharge efficiency will degrade when the environmental temperature

3 The lasting time of the fully charged battery when an earphone is connected

In addition toDVD-Video disc, you will also be able to play all Video CDs and
audio CDs (includingCD R, CD RW,DVD R and DVD RW).
DVD-Video
Depending on thematerial on thedisc (a movie,video clips,
a drama series,etc.) these discsmay have oneor more
Titles, and each Title may have one or more Chapters. To
make access easyand convenient, yourplayer lets youmove between Titles,
and also betweenChapters.
CD with JPEGfiles
You can also view JPEG still photos on this player.
Video CD
Depending on thematerial on thedisc (a movie,video clips, adrama
series, etc.) thesediscs may haveone or moreTracks, andtracks
may have oneor more indexes,as indicated onthe disc case.
Tomake access easyand convenient, yourplayer lets youmove
between tracks andbetween indexes.
Audio CD /MP3 CD
Audio CDs /MP3-CD contain musictracks only. You can play
them in theconventional way througha stereo systemusing the
keys on theremote control and/ormain unit, orvia the TV using
the On ScreenDisplay (OSD).
About SD MemoryCard
SD Memory Cardis a slimand compact bridgemedia link-
ing various kindsof digital equipment through its easycon-
nectivity. The card's control circuitry allowsdata to beread and
written (in itsprotection area) onlywhen appropriate external
devices are detected.Using decoder software,an SD Memory
Card-compatible device canplay music, videoclips and morewith-
out a drivemechanism like thosein CD andDVD players.

Power Sources Hearing Safety
GENERAL INFORMATION
This unit operateson a suppliedAC adapter, car adapter, or thebuilt-in lithium
battery.
Make sure thatthe input voltageof theAC adaptor isin line withthe local
voltage. Otherwise, theAC adaptorand unit maybe damaged.
Do not touchthe ACadaptor with wethands to preventelectric shock.
When connecting withcar power (cigarettelighter) adaptor,be sure the
input voltage ofthe adaptor isidentical with car voltage.
(Note: Do notconnect with theplayer when carengine starts)
Unplug theAC adaptor fromthe outlet whenthe unit isnot used forlong
periods of time.
Hold the plugto disconnect theAC adaptor. Do notpull the powercord.
Do not disassemblethe unit forlaser rays aredangerous to eyes.
Any serviceshould be doneby qualified servicepersonnel.
Unplug theAC adaptor tocut the powerif liquid orobjects get insidethe unit.
Take care not to drop the unit or subject it to strong shocks, which may

Safety and maintenance
GENERAL INFORMATION
Listen at amoderate volume:
Using earphones ata high volumecan impair yourhearing.
This product can produce sounds in decibel ranges that may
cause hearing lossfor a normalperson, even forexposure less
than a minute.The higher decibel ranges are offered for those
that may havealready experienced somehearing loss.
Sound can bedeceiving. Over timeyour hearing "comfortlevel" adapts to
higher volumes ofsound. So afterprolonged listening, whatsounds
"normal" can actuallybe loud andharmful to yourhearing. To guard against
this, set yourvolume to asafe level beforeyour hearing adaptsand leave it
there.
To establish a safe volume level:
Set your volumecontrol at alow setting.
Slowly increase thesound until youcan hear itcomfortably and clearly.
Listen for reasonableperiods of time:
Prolonged exposure tosound, even atnormally "safe" levels,can also cause
hearing loss.
Be sure touse your equipmentreasonably and takeappropriate breaks.
Be sure toobserve the followingguidelines when usingyour Earphones:

The LCD ismanufactured using highprecision technology. You may, however,
see tiny blackpoints and/or brightpoints(red,blue,green) that continuously
appear on theLCD. This is a normal result of the manufacturing process and
does not indicatea malfunction.

Some DVD discshowever are producedin a waythat requires specific
operation or allowsonly limited operationduring playback. Inthese cases the

Unless otherwise stated,all operations canbe carried outwith the remote

Switching on forOSD language setup
BASIC FUNCTION
1 Slide thePOWER switch toON to switchon the player.
2 Press SETUPfor the setupmenu.

A normalmechanical noise isheard during playback.
After switching on,inserting the discand closing thedoor, playbackstarts auto-
matically. The screen shows the typeof disc loaded.The disc may invite youto
select an itemfrom a menu.Use the , , , keysto highlight yourselection,
and press ENTER.
Note: Since itis usual forDVD movies tobe released atdifferent times in
different regions ofthe world, allplayers have regioncodes and discs
can have anoptional region code.If you loada disc ofa different region
code to yourplayer, youwill see theregion code noticeon the screen.
The disc willnot play, and should be unloaded.
After switching on, inserting the disc and closing the door, playback starts
automatically. The screen shows the typeof disc loadedas well as
information about thedisc s contents.
While playing VCDwith MTV/Karaoke, pressnumber keys(0-9) toselect the
track and press or ENTER toplay the track. Press MENU togo back to
menu of theselection.
