Introduction
The DC 694X-000 Converter (referred to hereafter as Converter)
is an optional add-on for the VRC 694X terminal. It is installed
between the terminal Filtered Power Cable and the terminal. In
addition to providing regulated power, it also provides isolation
from forklift electrical noise that can affect scanning (especially
long range scanning).
For detailed information on VRC 694X terminals, see the Quick
Reference Guide or Product Reference Guide for the terminal.

Parts
Important Information
The Converter must be used with a terminal equipped with the
new 3-wire internal Power Harness Assembly (p/n 25-38436-XX).
The third wire in the internal power harness provides access to the
terminal chassis ground. The Converter must also be used with
the Filtered Power Cable Assembly (p/n 25-50337-XX) standard
with all VRCs and also available separately.

Testing the Internal Power Harness
To ensure that your terminal has the 3-wire internal Power
Harness Assembly, perform the following test:
1. Use a Multi-Meter set to the ohms scale.
2. Touch and hold one Multi-Meter test lead end onto Pin 3 on
the back of the terminal.
3. Insert the other Multi-Meter test lead end onto the chassis
screw on the back of the terminal.
If continuity is detected, then the terminal has the new 3-wire
internal Power Harness Assembly.
If continuity is not detected, then the terminal has the older 2-wire
internal Power Harness Assembly that must be changed.

Connecting the Converter
The Converter connects between the Filtered Power Cable and
the terminal.
1. If the Filtered Power Cable is already connected to the termi-
nal, disconnect it and plug it into the Converter.
2. Plug the converter cable into the terminal. Ensure all cables
are seated properly.
Note: For additional information on the FIltered Power Cable
(p/n 25-50337-XX) refer to the Filtered Power Cable

Connecting the Converter Ground Stud
1. Connect a ground wire (not provided) with a ring-terminal to
the stud on the Converter and torque the nut to 15 - 18 in/lbs.
2. Connecttheotherendofthegroundwirewith aring-terminal
to the forklift chassis.
Note: Ensure the connection point is a true metal ground sur-
face common to the forklift.
Mounting the Converter
1. Mount the converter using appropriate hardware (not provid-
ed) in a convenient secure location on the forklift.
Note: It is preferable to have the rear of the Converter touch-
ing a metal surface so it can act as a heat-sink. During
normal operation of the Converter, the rear of the box
becomes warm to the touch.
2. Carefully tie the cables down so they do not interfere with, or
affect the safe operation of, the forklift. The terminal can now
be powered on.
