Tabernus Peram Hatch-bag Luggage System User manual

Hatch-bag Luggage System
Installation Instructions.
Please read this before using your Hatch-bag.
When fixed securely to your car the hatch-bag can transport a 20kg load. Please ensure all straps are
securely fastened to the frame.
Warnings :
•Do not exceed the indicated speed limit
•Do not use if the Hatch-bag obscures rear stop or driving lights
•If the Hatch-bag covers your registration plate please remove the plate and clip into the holder
provided.
•If you are driving at night and the registration plate is attached to the bag, please ensure you use the
light provided to illuminate the registration plate.
1.Your Hatch-bag comprises the following.
•Hatch-bag frame with 3 webbing straps and 6 D rings to attach the hatch hugger straps to
•2 straps to secure the bag / luggage to the frame
•2 foam sections a base and upright section
•6 Hatch huggers
•1 protective foam pad
•Weatherproof Hatch-bag ( optional )
•Registration plate holder
•Registration plate light and strap attachment.
Foam base section.
Hatch hugger Strap.
2. If the hatch-bag will obscure your cars registration plate remove this first.
3. Fill your cars boot as normal, then place the 6 hatch huggers inside the boot as shown by the blue
circles with the larger ends inside the cars boot. The hatch hugger that secures to the top of the frame in
the middle is optional and we advise against using it if your car has a very large rear spoiler above the
rear window. This top middle strap will need to be fed though the gap at the top of your cars tailgate. Its
essential that the top left and right hatch huggers are attached to the top strap as high on the frame as
possible, so place these on the rear parcel shelf or as high as possible in the boot. Make sure the bottom
middle strap does not foul your cars tailgate latch.
4. Shut the boot and pull the ends of the 6 straps so that they are flush with the inside of the boot /
tailgate. Take one of the long straps used to secure the hatch-bag/luggage to the frame and place it over
the bottom foam section then place the frame into the bottom foam section and place on the top of the
bumper, making sure the top to bottom strap on the frame and luggage strap are central and pass
through the slot cut on the base foam section.
One of the long luggage
straps must be placed
under the frame
between it and the base
foam section.
Bottom middle strap
attaches to far end of
frame and passes
under bag base.
5. Place the rear foam section behind the frame with the top to bottom strap on the frame in front of it.
Ensure the frame is sat in the slots, this section can be rotated to suit your cars tailgate angle, and allow
you to get the frame as vertical as possible.
6. Now attach all six straps to the six fixing points on the hatch bag frame, and pull tight. Start with the top
left and right straps. The bottom left and right straps can be cut to length to suit your car if you wish. If
you melt the ends of the webbing with a flame it will melt the end and stop any fraying in the future.
Its important that the top left and right straps are attached as high as possible on the frame as shown
below.
Top straps must be as high as possible on the frame, pull the cross strap up on the frame if necessary.
The bottom middle strap attaches to far edge of base frame section.
7. If your car has a rear spoiler and you opt to use the upper middle strap feed the strap through the foam
pad as shown, this will protect your cars paint
8.Once all the straps are tight and the frame does not move tie off the lose ends.
9. Now attach the bag or suitcase/luggage to the frame. Feed the straps around the frame twice as
shown. Place them through the middle fixing, on the bag or cross them over if you are use your own
luggage. If you will need the registration plate light feed the small strap through the top to bottom strap
and the left to right strap through the back of the registration plate holder as shown below.
Attach registration plate light here.
Clip registration plate into frame by removing the bottom section and clicking back into place, feed strap
through the back of the holder to secure to bag.
Feed straps around frame twice to secure.
10. Make sure the bag is pushed fully back into the frame and that the left to right strap is placed over the
carry handles. We suggest you stop after the first 5-10 miles to check all straps are still tight and secure.
