Checking the firmware version
1 Turn the unit on.
2 Press the MENU button to open the menu
screen.
3 Turn the skip knob (.//) to show the
rmware version (VERSION INFO).

The number shown to the right of “SYSTEM” is the firmware
version.
Update procedures
A USB type-C cable is necessary to update the firmware. Either USB
type-A or type-C port can be used on the computer. Use a commer-
cially-available cable with a connector that fits into a USB port on
the computer you are using.
ATTENTION
Cables designed only for charging cannot be used. Use a USB
type-C cable that supports data transmission.
NOTE
The screens used in these instructions are from Windows10.
1 Uncompress the downloaded le.
The following files will appear.
oWin_DFU_driver.exe
oVRDS-701_updater_xxxx.exe (xxxx is the firmware version)
2 Double-click Win_DFU_driver.exe, and press
the Enter key.
NOTE
If a “User Account Control” pop-up message appears during
installation, click “Yes”.
3 When the Device Driver Installation Wizard
appears, click “Next”.

4 Click “Finish”.
5 While pressing and holding the skip knob
(.//), set the unit’s STANDBY/ON switch
to ON.

F/W UPDATE
SYSTEM UPDATE?
6 When “F/W UPDATE” appears, turn the skip
knob (.//) to show SYSTEM UPDATE.
Then, press the skip knob (.//).
UPDATE F/W ! !
DON’T POWER OFF!
If the screen shown above does not appear, set the unit’s
STANDBY/ON switch to STANDBY, and repeat step 5.
7 Connect the USB port on the back of this unit
to the computer using a USB type-C cable.
Refer to the unit’s operation manual for the location of the USB
port.

VRDS-701t: UPDATE (maintenance) port
Connect a USB type-C cable.
8 Double-click VRDS-701_updater_xxxx.exe,
and click OK.
NOTE
The following screen will appear if the unit is not recognized by
the computer. Click OK to close the window.
Check the connection between the computer and the unit,
and double-click VRDS-701_updater_xxxx.exe.
oCables designed only for charging cannot be used for
firmware updates. Use a USB cable that supports data
transmission.
oConnecting to a different USB port on the computer might
allow it to recognize the unit.
9 When “Update completed!” appears, click OK
to close the window.
10 Set the unit’s STANDBY/ON switch to STANDBY.
Follow the procedures in “Checking the firmware version” on
the previous page and check the firmware version.
