Precautions Battery Installation
Precautions
<Avoid storage or use in high temperatures,
exposed to direct sunshine or near the room
heaters.
<Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the
product. This could damage the product or
cause injury.
<Do not splash water or liquid on the product.
This can cause the product to malfunction.
<Do not drop or subject to rough handling. This
can damage the product.
<For the cleaning, do not use benzene, thinner or
alcohol. These can deform or discolor the
product. Use soft, dry cloth when cleaning.
<Do not touch the touch screen with sharp
object. This can damage the screen.
<Even if the remote control unit is operated
within the effective range, remote control
operation may be erratic if there are any
obstacles between the receiving unit and the
remote control.
<If the remote control unit is operated near other
appliances which generate infrared rays, or if
other remote control devices using infrared
rays are used near the unit, it may operate
incorrectly. Conversely, the other appliances
may operate incorrectly.
Remove the battery compartment cover.
Insert four AAA (R03, UM-4) batteries. Make
sure that the batteries are inserted with their
positive +and negative _poles positioned
correctly.
Close the cover.
Battery Replacement
If the distance required between the remote
control unit and main unit decreases, the batteries
are getting weak. In this case replace the batteries
with new ones. The battery power is indicated
with a battery icon in the screen.
Precautions concerning batteries
<Be sure to insert the batteries with correct
positive +and negative _polarities.
<Use batteries of the same type. Never use
different types of batteries together.
<When the remote control unit is not to be used
for a long time (more than a month), remove the
batteries from the remote control unit to
prevent them from leaking. If they leak, wipe
away the liquid inside the battery compartment
and replace the batteries with new ones.
<Do not heat or disassemble batteries and never
dispose of old batteries by throwing them in a
fire.

Remote Control Transmitting Area
Transmits the remote control signal to
components.
Light Sensor
Measures ambient light levels to turn on/off
back-light illumination.
Quick Channel Button
Calls up listing of channels grouped by
content.
Return Button
Press this button during setup to cancel an
operation or toggle off the setup screen.
LCD/Touch Screen
Displays soft keys, features, modes and allows
operation of the soft keys.
Backlit/Sleep Button
Use to turn on this remote control, turn on the
back light and enter the sleep mode.
CH +/PLAY Button
Scrolls up through preset TV channels and
plays audio devices.
CH –/STOP Button
Scrolls down through preset TV channels and
stops audio devices.
Page Button
Toggles between the pages of a device
screen.

Lets you select devices.

Screen Icons and Indicators
:
Displays when key beep is on.

Indicates the device’s screen key page number.

Receives the transmitted signal of other
remote controls when learning remote control
codes.

Pressing a device button displays the previously
stored remote control layout.
AMP
A layout to operate the amplifier section of AG-
L800 is stored. Pressing the Page button allows the
selection of BASIC or ADVANCED screens.
(PLAY) and (STOP) buttons operate DV-L800.
TUNER
A layout to operate the tuner section of AG-L800 is
stored. Pressing the Page button allows the
selection of BASIC or ADVANCED screens.
DVD (CD)
A layout to operate the DV-L800 is stored. Pressing
the button switches between the DVD and
DVD/CD. Pressing the Page button allows the
selection of BASIC or ADVANCED screens.
HDR (VCR)
A suitable layout to operate the VCR and Hard Disk
Recorder is stored. Pressing the button switches
between the HDR and VCR. When the HDR is
selected, pressing the Page button allows the
selection of BASIC or ADVANCED screens.
MD (CD-R/TAPE)
A layout to operate the TEAC MD Deck (MD-H
series), CD Recorder (Except RW-D series) and
Cassette Deck (Displaying the “UR”remote mark)
is stored. Pressing the button switches between
the MD, CD-R and TAPE. VOLUME +/–and
buttons operate AG-L800.
TV
A suitable layout to operate the TV is stored.
SAT
A suitable layout to operate the Satellite Tuner is
stored.
AUX
A suitable layout to operate the auxiliary
equipment is stored. VOLUME +/–and buttons
operate AG-L800.
Note:
<Device layouts stored in the remote control can
be edited. See page 15 for more information.
<The REC key must be pressed for two seconds
to begin recording.
When using other TEAC products
or components
<The codes for 150 TV manufacturers have been
pre-programmed into this remote control. See
page 8, Pre-programmed Code Setting, for
information on how to setup the remote control
for these devices.
<If you have other devices the remote control
codes can be learned by this remote control.
See page 11, Learning Feature, for more
information on how to use the Learning Feature.

Setup Mode
If you wish to add/delete a device, alter keys or
their functions and many other actions, you will
have to first enter the setup mode. If your remote
control is off, press the POWER button to turn it on
before attempting to enter the setup mode.
How to enter the setup mode
Once the power is on, press and hold both
(NEWS) and (MACRO) buttons for two
seconds. The screen changes and DEVICE is
displayed.
By pressing 5or bon the touch screen, you can
scroll through the menu items.
The menu items appear in the following order:

When the desired menu item is displayed, press
ENTER.
<Press the button to exit from the setup
mode or press 5or b, select EXIT and press
ENTER.
<In the setup mode, pressing the button
allows you to exit from the current menu.
<The unit will exit from the setup mode
automatically if no key presses are made for
two or more minutes.

4. Press a device button to select a device. The
device name and a device 4-digit code
appear in the display.
5. Enter the desired 4-digit code. See the
attached sheet for a list of pre-codes.
<Using the numbered keys on the touch screen,
enter a 4-digit code from the pre-programmed
code list on the attached sheet.

<After selecting a device, you can also use the
gand tkeys to scroll through available
device 4-digit codes.

Pre-programmed Code Setting
If the remote controlled component is a TV, these
pre-programmed code settings are already
available in the remote control. By just selecting a
code, your RC-L800 emulates the original remote
control. There are two methods to select these
devices, Manual and Auto. These methods are
described below.
Note:
A very small number of functions or keys may not
be emulated properly.
Manual
1. Enter the setup mode.
2. Press 5or bto select CODE and press
ENTER.
3. Press 5or bto select PRE-CODE and press
ENTER.

6. Once the target component is on, point the
remote control towards the target
component and press the POWER button. If
the target component responds to the
POWER button, the device 4-digit code has
been entered successfully.
Note:
If the target component does not respond to the
POWER button the 4-digit code may be incorrect.
Confirm the 4-digit code for the target component
on the attached sheet and enter it again.
7. Press the button to complete the setup
for the target component.
<If setup was successful, briefly flashes
on the screen when you press the button
and the display returns to the previous screen.
<If setup was not successful, briefly
flashes on the screen when you press the
button. Confirm the 4-digit code for the target
component on the attached sheet and enter it
again.
8. Press the button repeatedly to exit from
Manual setup and return to the previously
displayed screen layout.
Note:
If at any point during setup you wish to exit from
the setup screens, press the button to go back
through the displayed screens one by one.

5. Once the target component is on, point the
unit towards the target component and press
the key between the gand tkeys. AUTO
displays and the remote control sends a off
signal to the target component for each 4-
digit device code. When the target
component turns off, press the POWER
button.
Point the unit towards the target component
again and press the POWER button to verify
that the code is correct. If the target component
responds to the POWER button, the device 4-
digit code has been entered successfully.
Note:
If the target component does not respond to the
POWER button the 4-digit code may be incorrect.
Return to step 1 to find the correct 4-digit code.
6. Press the button to complete the setting.
7. Press the button repeatedly to exit from
Auto setup and return to the previously
displayed screen layout.
Note:
If at any point during setup you wish to exit from
the setup screens, press the button to go back
through the displayed screens one by one.
Auto
1. Enter the setup mode.
2. Press 5or bto select CODE and press
ENTER.
3. Press 5or bto select PRE-CODE and press
ENTER.
4. Press a device button to select the device.

Learning a Device
If you have a target component that is not included
in the list of pre-codes, you can still use RC-L800 to
control the component by using your RC-L800
remote control to learn the control codes from the
remote control of the target component.
Note:
Learning a device will overwrite key codes and
macros already in the RC-L800. If you don’t want to
overwrite key codes or macros, create a new
device in the RC-L800 before starting to learn a
device. See page 25, Creating a New Device, for
more information.
1. Enter the setup mode.
2. Press 5or bto select CODE and press
ENTER.
3. Press 5or bto select LEARN and press
ENTER.
4. Point your target component’s remote
control at the RC-L800’s learning eye, which
is located at the bottom of the unit.
5. Press a device button to select the same
type of device.
The screen shows a hard button layout of the
device. The buttons are now ready to be
assigned a function.

Note:
If the device displayed on the screen displays a
page number, pressing the PAGE button switches
between BASIC and ADVANCED key layout pages.
Select an appropriate key layout page by pressing
the PAGE button.
6. Touch a key on the touch screen to which
you wish to assign a key function.
The selected key blinks.
7. Press the corresponding button on the target
component’s remote control. The code is
sent to the RC-L800.
appears when successfully learned and
the next key to be programmed blinks.
Or displays if there is a learning failure. If
learning fails, attempt to learn the key again by
starting again at step 6.
Repeat the steps 6–7 until all keys have
been learned by the RC-L800.
To learn other devices, press the device button
to select the additional devices and repeat
steps 6–7.
8. Press the button repeatedly to exit from
Auto setup and return to the previously
displayed screen layout.
Note:
<If at any point during setup you wish to exit from
the setup screens, press the button to go
back through the displayed screens one by one.
<Sometimes when learning a key code is
displayed but the learned key does not function
properly. Repeat steps 6–7 above and check the
function of the key again.
<There may be some functions of your target
device remote control that the RC-L800 cannot
emulate.

Deleting Key Code 1
Deleting an Individual Key Code
The code assigned to a key or a MACRO can be
deleted from keys individually.
1. Enter the setup mode.
2. Press 5or bto select CODE and press
ENTER.
3. Press 5or bto select DEL KEY and press
ENTER.
4. Press 5or bto select DEL KEY again and
press ENTER.
5. By pressing the device and page buttons,
select the screen page from which you wish
to delete a key.
6. Touch the key you wish to delete the key
code or MACRO.
<When deleted, flashes briefly. If a key
previously was blank, flashes briefly.
<You may continue to delete other keys.
7. Press the button repeatedly to exit and
return to the previously displayed screen
layout.
Note:
If at any point during setup you wish to exit from
the setup screens, press the button to go back
through the displayed screens one by one.

Deleting Key Code 2
Deleting Whole Key Codes of a
Device
1. Enter the setup mode.
2. Press 5or bto select CODE and press
ENTER.
3. Press 5or bto select DEL KEY and press
ENTER.
4. Press 5or bto select DEL BANK and press
ENTER.
5. By pressing the device and page buttons,
select the screen page from which you wish
to delete all key codes.
If a page is selected, all key codes are deleted
from the device.
6. Press the button. A confirmation
message appears.
7. Press ENTER to delete.
<Press MENU to escape from deleting.
<When deleted, flashes briefly.
8. Press the button repeatedly to exit and
return to the previously displayed screen
layout.
Note:
<If at any point during setup you wish to exit from
the setup screens, press the button to go
back through the displayed screens one by one.
<If you delete a device by mistake you can re-
program the RC-L800 by following the steps on
page 8, Pre-programmed Code Setting, or page
11, Learning a Device.

Changing Key Layout
Changing Key Layout
The soft key layout can be changed to match your
preferences such as adding, deleting or changing
keys or key labels. Your RC-L800 allows you to
layout up to 21 keys per page.
1. Enter the setup mode.
2. Press 5or bto select LAYOUT and press
ENTER.
3. Press a device button to select a device.
4. Select any key you wish to re-label, or tap
on a blank space to make a key appear and
tap the key to scroll through and select
available labels. To delete a key tap on the
key until they key disappears from the
display.
<All available key labels for a specific key
appear by pressing the POWER button.
Repeat this step for other keys.
5. Press the button to save and complete
the changes.
After changing the layout, set suitable key code
to each changed key. See page 11, Learning a
Device.
6. Press the button repeatedly to exit and
return to the previously displayed screen
layout.
Note:
If at any point during setup you wish to exit from
the setup screens, press the button to go back
through the displayed screens one by one.

Macro Function 1
<This function enables you to set up to 60
sequential operations into a single key.
<An interval can be set from 1–10 seconds
between each operation.
<In the operation mode, you can view the macro-
assigned key by pressing and holding the
MACRO button. When you press and hold the
MACRO button only keys that have macros
assigned appear in the display.
Setting up Macros
1. Enter the setup mode.
2. Press 5or bto select MACRO and press
ENTER.
3. Press 5or bto select NEW and press
ENTER.
4. Once a device and page have been selected
by pressing device and page keys, select
and press the blank key you wish to set as a
Macro key. When you press it, three beeps
sound.
If the selected key had been a key code or
Macro, it is overwritten with the new Macro.
Start to define the Macro:
Example:
TV-Power on wTV-TV/Video wDVD-Power on
(5-second interval) wDVD-Play
Press the device button of TV.
Press the TV power button.
Press the TV TV/VIDEO key.
Press the DVD device button.
Press the DVD power button.
Press the button to select interval.
Press [5] for a 5-second interval.
Press the DVD play button.

4. By pressing the device and page buttons,
select the device and then the page that
contains the Macro key.
The screen shows the Macro key if exists on
the page.
5. Press the key to which a Macro has been
assigned. The Macro’s steps flash on the
screen in order.
6. Press the button repeatedly to exit and
return to the previously displayed screen
layout.
Note:
If at any point during setup you wish to exit from
the setup screens, press the button to go back
through the displayed screens one by one.
Viewing Macros
1. Enter the setup mode.
2. Press 5or bto select MACRO and press
ENTER.
3. Press 5or bto select VIEW and press
ENTER.

Deleting Macro-Assigned Key
1. Enter the setup mode.
2. Press 5or bto select MACRO and press
ENTER.
3. Press 5or bto select DELETE and press
ENTER.
4. By pressing the device and page buttons,
select the device and then the page that
contains the Macro key.
Only keys that have been assigned a Macro are
displayed on the screen.
5. Press the key to which a Macro has been
assigned to delete the key.
6. Press the button repeatedly to exit and
return to the previously displayed screen
layout.
Note:
If at any point during setup you wish to exit from
the setup screens, press the button to go back
through the displayed screens one by one.

Channel Assignment 1

This function allows you to assign TV or SAT
channels into one of three groups, NEWS, SPORTS
or MOVIES. Each group can contain up to 50
channels.
Setting the Assignment
1. Enter the setup mode.
2. Press 5or bto select CHANNEL and press
ENTER.
3. Press 5or bto select NEW and press
ENTER.
4. Press the TV or SAT device button to select
the TV or SAT device.
5. Enter a channel number by pressing the
appropriate keys on the touch screen.
Example for 12 : 1 w2
6. Press the channel assignment button in
which the entered channel is assigned.
Repeat steps 5 –6 for other assignments.
