Cornucopia - Tube overdrive
Tone color, presence, musicality: these are the most important featu-
res of Cornucopia tube overdrive. We didn’t simply placed-in a tube;
the overall sonic performance is due to the synergy of operations
from each circuit section. Hum, noise and performance degradation
can rapidly come if even a little part of design process is not carefully
controlled. Cornucopia comes out from many time spent in designing
and engineering. It’s only with this rigorous design approach than
the 12AX7 can give the best sonic performances, symbolized by the
Cornucopia in the hand of the deity Tiberinus.
The strong 12AX7 personality, controlled and regulated by other ori-
ginal J-FET circuits, provides a “tube colored” tone even in transistor
amplications, setting Cornucopia to a quasi-clean boosting only. For
this reason, we consider Cornucopia more like a miniaturized pre-
amplier to place in front of amplication that needs more “tube-ish”
sound. For highly saturated sounds, turn full CW the Gain know and
you get the angrier tone ever on a tube preamp. The “Bias” command
enhances its versatility of use, changing the operating conditions of
12AX7 to obtain a dirtier distortion, but keeping the musicality, ac-
cording to the most important rule in whole Te Vintage Lab desi-
gns.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

CONNECTION AND OPERATING
• Connectingtoinstrumentandamplier/gear: connect your instrument
(or preceding gear effects chain) to the Input jack on the pedal’s upper-right
side with a 6.3mm Jack instrument cable. Connect the output jack on the pe-
dal’s upper-left side to an amplier or to the following gear effects chain with
a 6.3mm Jack instrument cable.
• Powersupplyoperating: connect the dedicated power adapter (12Vac 1A,
supplied with pedal) to the 5,5mm power connector, located in the middle
of the upper-center side of pedal enclosure, between the audio Jack connec-
tors. Plug the power adapter to a 230Vca mains, the porthole window on
the valve will light up.
• Tubereplacing: The 12AX7 tube installed inside Cornucopia is carefully
selected by TEFI Lab factory for best performance results in his circuit de-
sign and it does not need maintenance. However, if is needed a replacement
of the tube, disconnect before the power adapter from mains. Carefully pull
out the tube socket support base from the vertical guide and gently pull out
the 12AX7 from his socket.

CONTROLS AND FUNCTIONS
Cornucopia uses a dedicate circuit designed by Te Vintage Lab that drives
the 12AX7 to obtain sonic results recalling a tube preamplier when it led to
saturation. It is possible to get a good dynamic overdrive without the need of
setting excessive volume from the guitar amplier, obtaining the whole tube
sound potential, especially for those who love Blues and Hard Rock.
GAIN: thanks to the wide range available, you can get from a clean boosting
to a light crunch. Rotating more CW you will get his characteristic powerful
overdrive.
VOLUME: sets the volume level post distortion. It can be used in conjunction
with Gain control to get the overall desired output level.
CONTOUR: regulates the general tonal balance in a wide frequency range.
Turning fully CCW allows to get a warmer sound, act to balance the responce
on too bright ampliers. Rotating to CW allows more presence and low body
without affecting bass responce.
Toggleswitch“Soft Bias/HardBias”: this command selects the operative
conditions (Bias) of the 12AX7, allowing different sonic results. Set “Soft Bias”
to obtain a sweet creamy overdrive between clean and gently saturation. Turn
to “Hard Bias” and you get more fuzzy and angry saturation, recalling typical
70’s Hard Rock sounds.
TEFI Vintage Lab invites you to activate the warranty within 10 days of the purchase of the product. It is necessary to connect to our website www.tevintagelab.it and, on the page concerning your product, ll in the reuqired elds in the “register product” sec-
tion. TEFI Vintage Lab products are covered by 5-year warranty. If the user nds an anomaly due to component defects and erroneous assembly, please contact us by sending an email to info@tevintagelab.it, describing in detail the problem encountered and the
circumstances in which it was veried.
In compliance with the regulations dened in the following clauses, TEFI Vintage Lab undertakes to restore the instrument with no additional costs.
Warrantly is valid for 5 years. Does not include parts subject to wear such as jacks, switches, potentiometers, dip-switches, 9V battery clip or 9V battery holder, nor does include aesthetic parts such as knobs.1.
Warrantly does not extend to damages causated by inexperience or negligence in the use of the effect pedal, or bad/neglected maintenance.2.
TEFI Vintage Lab undertakes to replace at its own discretion the malfunctioning or incorrect manufacturing parts, only after a careful check and verication of bad construction.3.
In case of incorrect use of the warranty, shipping costs are charged to the user.4.
During the warranty period, the replaced products become property of the manufacturer.5.
This warranty can only be obtained from the original purchaser who has complied to the normal maintenance instructions contained on this manual. Our warranty liability expires at the moment the original owner surrenders ownership of the product, or 6.
changes are being made to it.
Warranty does not include damage caused by excessive stress, such as the use of the product after the detection of an anomaly, the use of inappropriate methods of operation, as well as the failure to observe use and maintenance instructions.7.
The manufacturer assures no responsibility for any difculties that may arise in resale or use abroad due to the provisions in force in the country where the product was sold.8.
The product part of the defective one must be delivered to TEFI Vintage Lab for replacement, otherwise the replaced part will be charged to the buyer.9.
Any product repair or modication by the user or by companies not authorized by TEFI Vintage Lab will invalidate the warranty.10.
EU DIRECTIVE AND DISPOSAL
TEFI Vintage Lab products are designed compliant to the standards dened by EU directives, respecting safety and the environment. Pursuant to Legislative Decree No. 49 of March 14, 2004 “Implementation of Directive 2012/19/EU on
waste electrical and electronic equipment (RAEE)”.
The crossed-bin symbol indicates that the product, at the end of its useful life, must be separately collected from other waste.
The user must therefore confer the equipment with the essential components at the end of their life to the appropriate collection centers for electrical and electronic waste.
