Tefi Vintage Lab GainOver User manual

Te Vintage Lab is pleased to welcome you to our family. We hope you
enjoy using our new GainOver dual preset overdrive. Feel free to get
in touch for any suggestions or clarications as to how you might best
use the effect. Play music and enjoy using our products!
GainOver - Dual preset overdrive
GainOver is a two-preset overdrive with switchable channels and in-
dependent Gain and Volume controls. The “Low Gain” section ranges
from a quasi-clean boost to a creamy full dynamic crunch with clear
attack, while the “High Gain” section maintains these properties whi-
le producing more drive saturation. The GainOver design is based on
the PCN (Progressive Clipping Network) proprietary circuit, a com-
plex analog net designed to obtain a dynamic and progressive appro-
ach to distortion, reproducing the incoming saturation of an EL84
Class-A nal stage of a tube amplier.
Thanks to the PCN circuit every note is well dened, whether you are
playing a melodic phrasing, a rhythmic pattern or a sustained Solo.
We have created GainOver to allow the musician to maintain the same
sound during playing, from light crunch to hard overdrive Soloing in
one pedal. Moreover, GainOver can be used in a single channel ampli-
er to obtain a typical three channel conguration (Clean, Crunch,
Drive), thanks to two independent Gain-Volume settable presets that
allow limitless versatility.

CONNECTION AND USE
• Connectingtoinstrumentandamplier/gear: connect your instrument
(or gear effects chain) to the Input jack on the pedal’s right side with a
6.3mm Jack instrument cable. Connect the output jack on the pedal’s left
side to an amplier (or to the next effects in your chain) with a 6.3mm Jack
instrument cable.
• Battery: to access the battery compartment, remove the four screws on
the bottom cover. Connect the 9V battery (6LF22 type) to the battery clip
connector. Do not reverse the polarity! Insert the battery into the battery
compartment located between the two footswitches. Be careful not to da-
mage the wires and/or the battery clip. To preserve battery life disconnect
the instrument cable from the pedal Input jack when the pedal is not in
use.
• Powersupply: connect a 9V stabilized external power supply adapter to
the pedal’s power connector located on the right side (5.5mm connector
with 2.1mm pole type). Do not reverse polarity! (external positive, inter-
nal negative). In the presence of reversed polarity the pedal will not power
up; no damage will be caused below 25V reversed polarity.
CONTROLS AND FUNCTIONS
GainOver has two independent Gain-Volume presets, LO-Gain and HI-Gain, se-
lectable by pressing the footswitch on the right side of the pedal faceplate.
“LO Gain” PRESET: the reduced max gain provides a quasi-clean boost
through to a light overdrive crunch. Thanks to a wideband response, simply
by turning down the guitar’s volume it will return from crunch to its own cle-
an response. You can control Gain and Volume by setting the knobs “LO Gain”
and “LO Vol”. Activation of this preset is indicated by the cyan LED.
“HIGain”PRESET: this preset has a wide range gain setting (about 40dBv
range from minimum to maximum) and offers about 25dBv more gain than
the “LO Gain” preset, to the sustain needed during a Solo or for power chords.
At high gain, midrange frequencies are emphasized to add more presence. You
can control Gain and Volume by setting the knobs “HI Gain” and “HI Vol”. Ac-
tivation of this preset is indicated by the red LED.
CONTOUR: the Contour knob is common to both presets and regulates the ge-
neral tonal balance in a wide frequency range. Turning fully CCW gives a war-
mer sound, to balance the response on bright sounding ampliers. Rotating
CW gives more presence and lows without affecting the bass responce.
