CeBIT 2004. It was very high evaluation of a
small Lithuanian company an its possibilities,
which helpe to feel peculiarities of international
business.
In 2004 Teltonika pro uce more than 10 new
pro ucts an solutions using EDGE
technology. It was a con ition that ma e
Teltonika a lea er of M2M integration solutions
using EDGE not only in Lithuania, but also in
Europe.
2005 was the year of two successful
international exhibitions: CEBIT 2005 an

international company. We became Lithuanian -

ATTENTION
Do not rip the evice. Do not touch the evice if the evice
block is broken or its connecting wires are without isolation.
All wireless evices for ata transferring may be susceptible to
interference, which coul affect performance.
Only qualifie personnel may install or repair this pro uct.
The evice is not water-resistant. Keep it ry.
The evice must be stea ily fastene on the mounting place.
Do not mount or serve evice uring the thun erbolt.
The evice requires high 220V voltage.

VoiceUSB evice requires 9V 1.12 A constant power supply
source that satisfies all safety requirements liste in EN 60950-1
stan ar .
The PC an power supply source, to which the evice VoiceUSB
is connecte , shoul satisfy LST EN 60950 stan ar . The evice
VoiceUSB can be use on first (Personal Computer) or secon
(Notebook) computer safety class.
The PBX station an /or the phone connecte to the evice must
satisfy all safety requirements liste in EN 60950-1 stan a .
To avoi mechanical amages of the evice it is recommen e to transport the VoiceUSB
evice packe in amage-proof pack. While using the evice, it shoul be place so, that its in ication
LEDs woul be visible as they inform in which working mo e the evice is an if it has any working
problems.
For VoiceUSB evice‘s network capacity working environment has big influence. If the
evice starts working insufficiently only qualifie personnel may repair this pro uct. We recommen to
forwar it to repair centre or to manufacturers. No exchangeable parts insi e of the evice.
In the installation place an supply circuits protective evices (bipolar release evice)
shoul be toole up which will protect from short-circuit an wrong groun installation. The power of
connecte evice shoul satisfy power of release evice. The interstice between contacts shoul be no
less than 3mm. Power supply network shoul be installe near evice on easy accessible place.

1 ABOUT T E DOCUMENT
In this ocument VoiceUSB evice technical characteristics are presente , also it is
escribe how to connect VoiceUSB evice to other evices an how to configure it..
VoiceUSB evice is being continuously improve : working quality, a ing specific requirements
from the clients. Therefore, a Firmware up ate proce ure is create .
2 INTRODUCTION
VoiceUSB evice is create correspon ingly to up-to- ate telecommunications an electronic
technologies.
In Trunk mo e VoiceUSB emulates the line. Phone calls in GSM network can be receive with
the connecte to the evice analogue phone.
When the evice is connecte to PBX it emulates external line while being in Trunk mo e.
When the evice is connecte to PBX it allows phone calls to/from any number in PBX to GSM
network an vice versa while being in Extension mo e.
VoiceUSB evice can work as a GSM mo em that can create pathway to Internet, exchange ata
using GPRS, CSD ata bearers.
It also gives a user exclusive possibility to change parameters of the evice with or inary
telephone using VoiceUSB Service menu or with a connecte PC with special VoiceUSB Configuration Tool
software.

3 PACKAGE CONTENTS
VoiceUSB evice is elivere to the client in car boar box with all require supplements
necessary for work. Package consists of:

Note:
the manufacturer does not provide SIM card, hich is necessary for
connecting to the GSM net ork! SIM card can be obtained from your GSM
operator!
If any of the components is missing from your package, please contact manufacturer’s
representative or salesperson.
4 TEC NICAL C ARACTERISTCS
4.1 Data Transfer
VoiceUSB evice supports the following ata bearers use in GSM network. Which ata channel
is use epen s on your GSM operator an ata transfer capacity in chosen GSM network:
GPRS class 10:
o Full PBCH support.
o MS class B.
o Co ing scheme 1-4.
Circuit Switche Data: Up to 9.6 kbit/s, Transparent/Non-transparent mo e
VoiceUSB evice also has an incoming number etection function. A ES300778-1/2 stan ar an
MDMF format is use for it.

4.3 Operating characteristics
The evice is powere from a 9 V (DC) power supply. The PC to which the VoiceUSB evice is
connecte must have a USB interface correspon ing to USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 stan ar s. Electrical
parameters of the evice are shown in Table 4.3.1.

VoiceUSB has 5 LEDs for evice status in ication. They are locate at the top part of the evice.

PREPARATION TO WORK
Before starting working with VoiceUSB evice, antenna must be connecte (see chapter 5.1).
Then, insert SIM car an make sure that it is inserte properly.
5.1 Connection of antenna
Antenna mounting place is chosen accor ing to mounting place features. It is recommen e to
mount the antenna insi e the buil ing. If because of network con itions antenna is to be mounte
outsi e, it is necessary to set antenna groun an quick-acting security implement against lightning.
Antenna is mounte using the stan ar SMA connector. Antenna connection is shown in picture 5.1.1.

5.2 Inserting SIM card
SIM car must be inserte as is shown in picture 5.2.1 an make sure that it is inserte properly.

5.3 Devices connection to
VoiceUSB
Depen ing on what action the VoiceUSB evice must perform, the following connections are to
be ma e:
Phone
PBX
Computer.

VoiceUSB can operate in two mo es: Trunk an Extension.
In Trunk mo e VoiceUSB emulates the line. With connecte analogue phone, phone calls can be
ma e an receive through the GSM network. VoiceUSB evice supports the number isplay function.
In Trunk mo e VoiceUSB can be connecte to PBX. In this case VoiceUSB emulates external
line an is connecte to one of the PBX CO sockets. In this mo e the phone call forwar ing epen s
on PBX configuration.
In Extension mo e VoiceUSB is connecte to PBX Extensions socket. In this case VoiceUSB
instea of emulating the line, loa s it. In this mo e, the phone call forwar ing epen s on the user, that
is a phone call to GSM network can be ma e from any internal number an from GSM network to any
internal number.
5.3.1 Trunk mo e
In this mo e VoiceUSB evice emulates the analogue line. Depen ing upon nee s, phone or PBX
station can be connecte to it through a stan ar RJ11 connector marke as PHONE.
Trunk mo e is activate through VoiceUSB Service menu (##1111# 1# 2# 0#) or with
VoiceUSB Configuration Tool.

5.3.1.1 Connecting phone to VoiceUSB (Trunk mo e)
Mo ule also generates the voltages necessary for the call. The phone connecte to the VoiceUSB
evice can make an receive incoming calls from the GSM network. The connection to the evice is
shown in picture 5.3.2.

5.3.1.1.1 Call examples
To make a phone call, connect the phone to the VoiceUSB, insert the SIM car an plug the
power supply.
Note:
Calling mode may not ork in the follo ing situations: a) hen
VoiceUSB device is connected to the Internet; b) hen Extension mode is activated;
c) hen orking in Service menu; d) hen orking ith VoiceUSB Configuration

Wait until the evice gets rea y for work. Enter PIN co e of the SIM car if require .
Phone call from phone to a mobile phone using
Trunk
mode
Pick up the phone, connecte to the VoiceUSB, han set. Dialing tone shoul be hear .
Dial the number an wait for the connection. Time perio between two ifferent igits can be
no longer than 3 secon s (see chapter 6.1.4.).
To terminate the call, hung up the phone.

Before connecting VoiceUSB to PBX, the PBX has to be accordingly configured

5.3.1.2.1 Phone call examples
In or er to make a phone call, connect PBX to VoiceUSB (picture 5.3.5), insert the SIM car an
plug the power supply.
Note:
Calling mode may not ork in the follo ing situations: a) hen
VoiceUSB device is connected to the Internet; b) hen Extension mode is activated;

Let’s say, you want to make a phone call from the internal line number to a GSM network
(picture 5.3.6).
Pick up the phone connecte to the PBX Extension socket, han set. Dialing tone shoul be
hear .
Dial the external line prefix accor ing to the PBX configuration.
Dial the mobile phone number an wait for the connection.
To terminate the call, hung up the telephone han set

Let’s say you want to make a phone call from the GSM network to an internal line number
(picture 5.3.7). Dial the number of the SIM car inserte in VoiceUSB. VoiceUSB will etect the
incoming call an will emulate it. The incoming call will be irecte to an appropriate internal line
number epen ing on PBX configuration.

5.3.1.3 Trunk mo e parameters
All parameters can be change with Service menu or VoiceUSB Configuration Tool.
Caller ID
The evice supports the incoming call ID isplay function. The incoming number can be shown
on the isplay of the phone connecte to the VoiceUSB evice.
Number Prefix
VoiceUSB has a Number Prefix function. When this function is enable , a prefix will be
automatically a e to every iale number.
Polarity Reverse
When the function is active, polarity reverse will perform when the over party picks up the
phone. Otherwise, the polarity reverse will perform when the over party will pick up the han set of the
phone connecte to the VoiceUSB evice.
Minute notification
VoiceUSB evice has a Minute notification function. When this function is activate , uring the
voice call, a short notification beep will be hear each minute.

Prefix blocking
This mo e allows to create a blacklist of number prefixes so the user woul not be able to make a
call to the number which starts with them. If user ialls a forbi en prefix, VoiceUSB will restart itself.
The prefix list can be forme in Service Meniu or VoiceUSB Configuration Tool.
Number blocking
This mo e allows to create a blacklist of numbers so the user woul not be able to call them. If
user ialls a forbi en number, VoiceUSB will restart itself. The forbi en number list can be forme in
Service Meniu or VoiceUSB Configuration Tool.
Allowed Numbers
This mo e allows to create a list of numbers that will be allowe to use Trunk mo e. If caller‘s
number will not match any number from the list, VoicUSB, will reject the call.
Note:
All functions are listed in Service menu or in VoiceUSB
Configuration Tool description.
5.3.2 Extension mo e
In this mo e a call from GSM network to VoiceUSB mo ule is possible. The mo ule will
commutate with any number in internal or PSTN network. Also it is possible to make a call from any
internal or PSTN number (through PBX) to GSM network.
Extension mo e is activate through the Service menu (##1111# 1# 1# 0#) or with VoiceUSB
Configuration Tool.

5.3.2.1.1 Calling examples
In or er to make a phone call, connect VoiceUSB to one of the PBX Extensions sockets (picture
5.3.8), insert the SIM car an plug the power supply.
Note:

Let’s say you want to make a phone call from the GSM network to the internal line number
(picture 5.3.10). In your mobile phone ial the number of the SIM car inserte in VoiceUSB. The
evice will automatically etect the incoming call an will answer it. Dial the internal line phone
number after the long phone tone signal.
