Handles up to 50 drops
without compromising
signal quality.
Some models support
115.2 kbps speeds up
to 3 miles ( .8 km).
Other models support
38. kbps speeds up to
9. miles (15.1 km).
Surge-protected
models are available.
Works with 2- or
-wire twisted-pair
cable.
Choose from 5-screw
terminal block, RJ-11,
or RJ- 5 models.
Point-to-point or
multipoint.
W
hen you need high speed and
support for up to 50 drops,
choose the Multipoint Mini Driver
(Mini Driver MP).
Two or ore ini drivers carry
asynchronous co unication
between co puters and
ter inals.
In ultipoint ode, the
ME771A–773A-R2 series boasts
speeds of up to 115.2 kbps at a
distance of up to 3 iles (4.8 k ).
The ME745A-R2 supports speeds
up to 38.4 kbps at a distance of
9.4 iles (15.1 k ) using 19 AWG
cable or 4.4 iles (7.1 k ) using
24 AWG cable.
The ini driver operates in full
or half-duplex ode over 4-wire,
and in half-duplex ode only over
2-wire, telco-type lines.
The ini driver also eets the
RS-485 pinning standards for a
ultipoint environ ent. However,
the ini driver doesn’t eet the
electrical standards for the
Speed, distance, and 50 drops
for multipoint data distribution.
KeyFeatures
MULTIPOINTMINIDRIVER(MINIDRIVERMP)
RS-485 interface and shouldn‘t be
used as an RS-485-to-RS-232
converter.
You can strap the ini driver’s
carrier to be constantly ON or to
be controlled by the RTS signal.
Operating with a controlled
carrier allows you to connect ini
drivers in ultipoint configur-
ations over 2 or 4 wires. Special
circuitry isolates inactive trans it
wire pairs.
You can also set a separate
ju per for high or low i pedance
on the receive circuit. This en-
ables the ini driver to work
properly in ultipoint configur-
ations—up to 50 polled
ode s—without degrading the
distance. Also, you can use
controlled carrier in applications
that require passing a control
signal end to end—for instance,
when the RTS on one ini driver
is passed to the DCD on the other
ini driver. A circuit allows a user
working in half-duplex ode to
receive an echo fro the ini
driver if the ter inals or co puter
progra s used don’t have an
echo option.
Plus, it’s ideal for use with
devices that use hardware flow
control.
To protect your data fro
ground loops, surge-protection
odels feature 600 watts per wire
of built-in security.
The ini driver operates
without batteries or AC power. It
receives its power fro the
RS-232 interface signals Receive
Data (RD, Pin 2), Request to Send
(RTS, Pin 4), and Data Ter inal
Ready (DTR, Pin 20).
Use the Multipoint Mini Driver
(Mini Driver MP) to link several
buildings within your corporate
ca pus. It’ll ensure reliable trans-
ission of your short-haul co -
unications far beyond the
RS-232 li it.
