1 Set-Up and Safety
Please observe the following points
Electrical devices are not for children
Never allow children to use electrical devices unsupervised.
If used, Batteries / rechargeable batteries can be extremely dangerous if swallowed,
therefore: keep the device and batteries out of reach of small children.
If a battery is swallowed, seek medical help immediately.
Proper Recycling
Batteries and packaging material should not be disposed of in domestic waste.
Batteries must be handed in to a used-battery collection point.
Separated disposal of packaging material cares for the environment.
Moisture and Cleaning
This product is not waterproof! Do not immerse the unit in water or let it come in contact
with water.
If water penetrates the unit, it can cause serious damage.
Do not use cleaning agents which contain alcohol, ammonia, benzene or abrasives, as
these can damage the unit.
Use a soft, damp cloth for cleaning.
Heat
Do not expose the unit to direct sunlight.
Ensure that the device is not exposed to any direct heat sources, such as radiators or
open fires.
Ensure that the unit is not covered.

2 Interference with other equipment
If interference occurs during use, place the device in a different location in the room /
building or plug in on a different power point circuit.
3 Instructions On Environment Protection
Do not dispose of this product in the usual household garbage at the end of its life
cycle. Hand it over at a collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic
appliances.
The symbol on the product, the instructions for use or the packing will inform about the
methods for disposal.
The materials are recyclable as mentioned in its marking. By recycling, material
recycling or other forms of re-utilization of old appliances, you are making an important
contribution to protect our environment.

•This CD player employs a laser light beam. Only a qualified service person should
remove the cover or attempt to service this device, due to possible eye injury.

Dripping Warning

5 Safety Instructions
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed,

5.1 Additional Safety Instructions
If using an extension cord:
•The technical specifications of the extension cord must match or exceed the
technical specifications of this appliance.
•Do not allow the cord to hang over the edge of the work surface or to come into
contact with stoves or other hot surfaces.
•If the cord or plugs are worn or damaged, do not use.
•Unplug from the power socket by grasping the plug body - Do Not pull on the cord.
5.2 Hearing Safety
Listen at a moderate volume.
Sound can be deceiving. Over time your hearing ‘comfort level’ adapts to higher
volumes of sound. So after prolonged listening, what sounds ‘normal’ can actually
be loud and harmful to your hearing. To guard against this, set your volume to a
safe level before your hearing adapts and leave it there.
Set your volume control at a low setting.
Slowly increase the sound until you can hear it comfortably and clearly, without
distortion.
Prolonged exposure to sound, even at normally ‘safe’ levels, can also cause
hearing loss.
Be sure to use your equipment responsibly and take appropriate breaks

8 Making the Connections
8.1 Connecting Power
Insert the DC plug of the power adaptor into the
DC5.8V power jack on the back of the unit.
You can power the system from a standard AC outlet
by using the supplied Power Adapter (The adapter
operates on 110 – 240Va.c. 50 / 60Hz).
CAUTION: - The included AC adaptor is for use with
this unit only. Do not use it with other equipment or
use any other power adaptor with this unit.
When the adaptor is plugged in the apparatus is not completely disconnected from
the mains even when the power button on the unit is turned off.
8.2 Connecting to your TV or DVD Player
Your Singing Machine is designed to connect to your TV the same way you would
connect most video cameras, DVD players or video game consoles
We have provided RCA cables to connect your unit to a TV, DVD player, video
device or an external audio/sound system. The RCA cables have three connections
at each end (white and red are for left and right audio connections and the yellow is
for video connection).
Please follow the steps below to display CD+G lyrics on the TV screen:
1 Locate the multi-coloured RCA patch cables
2. Connect video cable (yellow) to the video out of the back of the Singing Machine
3. Connect the other end of the video cable (yellow) to the video input on your TV
or DVD Player

8.3 Selecting your Singing Machine as your Source/Input
Selecting your Singing Machine as a source/input on your TV is very similar to
connecting a DVD player or Satellite system.
We’ve listed below the most common ways of selecting the source from your TV or
DVD Player:
(1) In the set up menu of the TV or DVD player there may be an option for “Input
Select” where you can choose between “Cable/Ant., Video 1,Video 2, etc.” as the
input source.
(2) Look for a TV channel between the highest and lowest on your TV or DVD player
(i.e. AUX, EXT, LINE1 or LINE IN)
(3) Your remote control for either your TV or DVD player may have source input
selections as well as detailed below:
“VIDEO, VIDEO 1, GAME, AUX, EXT or LINE-IN“ Choosing one of those in most
cases should display the lyrics from your Singing Machine as well.
Note: If this fails to select the correct input, please refer to your TV Instruction
Manual
8.4 Audio Connection
Please follow the steps below to connect the unit to your TV or home stereo system:
(1) Locate the multi-coloured patch cords.
(2) Connect audio cables (White and Red) to the Audio Out of the back of the Singing
Machine.
(3) Connect the other end of the audio cables to the audio/auxiliary input on your TV
or home stereo system

9 CD or CD+G Operation
This unit is designed to play CDs and CD+G’s bearing the identification logo
respectively. If the disc does not conform to the standard, it may not play properly.
9.1 Turning Power On/Off
•To turn on the unit, press the ON/OFF button, the ON/OFF LED Indicator will light
up.
•To turn it off, press the ON/OFF button again, the ON/OFF LED Indicator will turn
off
9.2 Loading a Disc
•Open the CD door, place a CD or CD+G disc in the compartment with the printed
side facing upward and the shiny side facing down.
•Gently close the CD door. The unit will start to play the first track automatically. (If
no disc is loaded, it will display “
no
”. If a CDG is loaded, the CDG indicator will
light up.)
Note: - Never place anything except a compact disc in the disc tray. Foreign objects
can damage the unit.
- Only place one disc on the disc tray at a time.
(Refer to the Trouble Shooting Guide if a disc is loaded but the total tracks do not
appear.)
9.3 Play/Pause
•Adjust MASTER VOLUME control on your unit, TV or audio system to a
comfortable level.
•To start playing, press the PLAY/PAUSE button. The first track [
01
] and the
PLAY/PAUSE LED will be lit.
•To temporarily stop playing, press the PLAY/PAUSE button. The PLAY/PAUSE
LED Indicator will flash.
•To resume play, press this button again.
Note: Pressing pause repeatedly when a CD+G is playing may cause distorted
lyrics on your TV screen. Any distortion will remain on the TV screen until it is
refreshed either during an instrumental break or the song is stopped and/or the
song is started from the beginning.

9.4 Stop
If the STOP button is pressed in the course of playing, the disc will cease to play.
(The total number of tracks will be shown on the LED window.)
9.5 Master Volume
Rotate to the MASTER VOLUME control to obtain the desired sound level.
Note: The MIC Volume must be adjusted simultaneously with the master volume
level.
9.6 Skip (For both CD and CDG discs)
•During STOP mode you can skip forward or back to your desired track number by
pressing the SKIP buttons ( - SKIP - ).
•To resume playing the selected song press PLAY PAUSE button.
9.7 Search (For audio CD disc only)
When playing any audio CD, press and hold the SKIP button ( - - SKIP - ).
The CD will search at high speed in the forward or backward direction. Normal play
will continue when you release the button.
9.8 Repeat
•To repeat the track currently playing, press the REPEAT button once. The REPEAT
LED will start to flash.
•To repeat all tracks, press the REPEAT button twice. The REPEAT LED will light up
and stay lit. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to begin.
•To clear the REPEAT function, press the REPEAT button again. The REPEAT LED
will turn off.
9.9 Program
•Use this button to program and play back songs in a preselected order.
Step 1: Programming should be done in the stop mode only. Press the PROGRAM
button until the PROGRAM LED flashes, the track will read [ 00 ].
Step 2: Press the SKIP buttons ( - SKIP- ) to select a desired track.
Step 3: Press PROGRAM button to confirm entry. You can repeat the same steps
up to a maximum of 20 tracks.
Step 4: Press PLAY button when you have completed programming and you are
ready to start singing.
•Press the STOP button to clear all the programmed entries.
9.10 Random
•During STOP mode, press the RANDOM button and PLAY button to start the
random play function
•During playback, press the RANDOM button to activate the random play function
and it will be started after the current track.
•Press the STOP button to clear the random function

9.11 Disco Light Operation
To illuminate the disco light and get your desired lighting effect, slide the Disco Light
slide button from the OFF position to your desired level.
9.12 Karaoke Functions
Sing along with the music by plugging in the provided microphone into either one of
the microphone jacks on the unit.
Warning - Tapping or dropping the microphone while it is on can permanently
damage your microphone. Resist the urge to swing the microphone around by the
cord!
9.13 MIC Volume
Adjust the MIC VOLUME control to a desired level and obtain the best performance.
Warning - To avoid Microphone feedback please avoid being too close to the
speaker.
9.14 Echo
Adjust the ECHO control to enhance your voice for a concert hall effect.
9.15 Balance
Adjust the BALANCE control between the pre-recorded singer’s voice and the music
when using a multiplex karaoke disc.
(Please see Glossary of term to learn more about multiplex.)
9.16 Auto Voice Control
AUTO VOICE CONTROL can be activated by rotating the Auto Voice Control. The
vocals on the multiplex recording will be muted when the singer starts to sing through
the microphone. When the singer stops to sing, the vocals will resume to normal.
10 AUX IN Operation
Your Singing Machine is designed to connect your favourite Digital Music device (e.g.
iPod/MP3 player, etc.)
You can connect your device by using an appropriate cable (Ø 3.5mm audio cable
not included).
AUX IN function can always be switched ON once the audio cable is plugged in.
Note: Monitor will be turned OFF when the audio cable is plugged in.
10.1 Master Volume
Rotate to the MASTER VOLUME control to obtain the desired sound level.
Warning - To avoid the over-burst amplified volume output or possible over-
tuned sound crack, you are recommended to adjust the Digital Music device
volume to one third or lower at the beginning.

11 Cleaning
•Turn off and unplug the unit prior to cleaning.
•Wipe the interior (CD compartment) of the appliance with a dry cloth.
•Wipe the outer surface of the unit with a soft damp cloth and dry with a dry
towel.
•Do not use abrasive creams, steel wool or scouring pads.
•Do not use cleaning agents which contain alcohol, ammonia, benzene or
abrasives, as these can damage the unit.
•Clean the CD reader lens frequently to remove dust residue.
•Dirt on the CD reader will impair the sound quality of playback.
NOTE: Clean the CD reader lens with a commercially available cleaning kit from
most audio shops.
•Do Not attempt to clean the CD reader lens by any other means as you may
damage the component.

14 The Singing Machine Karaoke Glossary of Terms
In addition to all of the terminology associated with consumer electronics products, a
few additional terms are used almost exclusively in karaoke. These terms are meant to
familiarise you with the world of Karaoke. The features listed below may not
necessarily pertain to the particular model Singing Machine that you have. The
following are some brief explanations of karaoke terms:
Echo:
Echo adds depth and resonance to a singer's voice without affecting the music. This
echo is produced by creating minor controlled feedback in the singer's voice.
Multiplex:
Our multiplex recordings contain two copies of the same song. One version is a stereo
recording of the song without the lead singer. The second version is recorded with the
music and background vocals on the left channel and the lead singer recorded on the
right channel. This ‘split track’ recording allows you to control the volume of the lead
singer by adjusting the balance control. You can sing a duet with the lead singer or use
the lead singer as a guide as you learn the song, gradually fading them out with the
balance control until you are able to sing the song on your own.
Auto Voice Control (A.V.C.):
When the AVC function is activated, the vocals on a multiplex recording are eliminated
as soon as the singer begins singing into the microphone. When the singer stops
singing, the vocals on the multiplex recording are automatically re-activated. This
useful function is used primarily during practice sessions while a singer is learning a
song. Please note that the AVC function only works with multiplex recording and not
with standard audio recordings.
Key Controller:
Key Controller changes the key of the CD/CDG music (+ or - steps) to adjust to the
singer’s voice.
CDG:
This is an acronym for Compact Disc plus Graphics. You will also see variations
CD+G, and CD+Graphics. This is a regular audio CD with information stored on a data
track simultaneous to music. In laymen's terms, CDG has a video output for simple
graphics (not full motion video). In the case of karaoke, the graphics function is used to
store song lyrics, and display the lyrics in synch with music. In most cases, CDG
software displays lyrics which change colour as they are to be sung. A regular
television is all that is required to display CDG lyrics.
Note: CDG is a particular type of compact disc encoding system that is different from
VCD or DVD. Your Singing Machine can decode standard audio compact discs and
CDG discs. It will not read VCD or DVD encoded discs.
Standard audio discs and cassette tapes will not display lyrics on your TV. Audio CDs
do not contain the software necessary to display lyrics

To get your free songs, you first need to register.
Go online to www.singingmachine.com and under the SUPPORT menu at the bottom
of the page, click “Register Your”.
When the next web page opens, fill in the information in the lower half of the page.
Note: If the shop from which you purchased your product is not listed in the registration
field, just select “Other”.

Follow these EASY STEPS to download all of your favourite karaoke music once you
are on the music download store:
1. Create an Account
2. Select your Bonus Songs
3. Add each song to the Cart
4. At Checkout, enter your PROMO CODE and press Update
5. Press CONTINUE and CONFIRM YOUR ORDER
6. Press "GO TO DIGITAL LOCKER" to download songs.
Note: To Burn songs to a CD, you must save as SMC format and download the Free
SMC Manager software from the online store.
Make note of where your downloads are saved. Left click on the download link of each
song to select the format you need for playback, and then SAVE. See reference chart
to choose which file format to download.

15.1 To Burn Your Own CD+G
Download the free SMC MANAGER SOFTWARE from:
www.singingmachine.com/smcmanager for WINDOWS PC only ( *Mac users may visit
KJams www.kjams.com for similar software, free trial offer.)
Follow the step-by-step instructions for software download, installation and saving
options. Open up the software to load your favourite karaoke songs from your
collection, or buy new ones from our karaoke download store.
To customize a CD with your karaoke library, follow these steps:
1. Open SMC Karaoke Manager already installed to your computer.
2. Select the karaoke songs already saved on your computer as SMC file format, or
go to your DIGITAL LOCKER, left click on the SMC Icon for each file and click
Save. Select MY DOCUMENT and then MY KARAOKE to save songs into MY
KARAOKE Folder. In the same box you will see File NAME and SAVE AS type.
File type must be SMC Karaoke Song. Press SAVE to complete.
3. Go to SMC Karaoke Manager. Press FILE on top, then ADD SMC FILES, press
OK and songs will appear in SMC Manager.
4. Click ADD TO PLAYLIST for each song you want, or SELECT ALL SONGS.
Before burning a CD, you must have a PLAYLIST created in order to do anything
with the songs. To burn your own CD+G, simply pop in a blank CD-R/CD-RW, and
press BURN in the SMC Karaoke Manager. Use Write Speed = 1 X (or lowest
available). Press BURN, then a box with SMC Manager should come up indicating
"Burning CDG"
