installation instructions
1. Pull your Stair Barrier across stairs with the
rod in place. Slide one of the brackets onto
the bottom of the rod, at side to the wall and
ush to the bottom of the step, or the oor
if using at the top of the stairs. Mark the 4
bracket holes with a pencil. Roll TSB back
to the banister side for the time being. If you
have molding, install the 4 screws directly
through the bracket into the wall without TSB
inserted. See Fig. A. If you are drilling into
wood or studs, you will not need the anchors.
If you are attaching directly to drywall, use a
hammer to gently tap anchor bolts halfway
into the drywall at the 4 pencil marks. Use a
screwdriver to tighten until ush with the wall.
See Fig B.
2. Insert TSB with rod into the bottom bracket.
Take the 2nd bracket and slide onto the top
of the rod, at side against the wall. Use a
level to ensure the rod is as level as pos-
sible. Mark 4 holes with a pencil. Roll TSB
back to the banister side.
3. If you are attaching to drywall, use a hammer
to gently tap anchor bolts halfway into the
drywall at the 4 pencil marks. Use a screw-
driver to install the rest of the way (until ush
with the wall).
4. Once you have determined how many
spacers you need, slide the second bracket
with screws and spacers onto TSB with
rod. Line up screws to the pencil marks,
or anchor bolts and tighten into place.
See Fig. C.

installation instructions
Note: If you are attaching both brackets directly to a wall, then you will not need the spacers that are provid-
ed. If you have molding at the bottom, you will likely need spacers to bring the top bracket out from the wall.
You will use spacers to match the thickness of your molding. Extra spacers can be purchased from our online
store.
5. Wrap the top strap of TSB around the banister and latch the buckle. You may use the banister, spindles or
both to attach the straps. In some cases, you may choose to use multiple spindles. See Figs. D, E and F.
6. Repeat this process for the middle and bottom straps.
7. Tighten all straps so that TSB is taut.
8. When properly installed, the bottom edge of TSB should be ush with the tread, and there should be little
(maximum 1”) to no gaps on the sides. See Fig D.
9. For use at the top of stairs: Install TSB a minimum of 10 inches back from the rst tread/step. With all soft
barrier gates there will be some give to the fabric and to ensure there are no entrapments, there must be
ample distance between TSB and rst step. See Fig G.
10.If TSB is unlatched to allow access to the staircase, completely roll TSB to the wall side. See Fig I. When
not in use, TSB should not block the staircase. See Fig H.
All indoor Stair Barriers are made of Class 1 Upholstery grade fabric. Cleaning code is “S”. To clean, use a soft brush to loosen dirt
and then vacuum TSB with an upholstery attachment. For tougher stains, use a mild, water-free solvent or dry cleaning product. DO
NOT MACHINE WASH
