IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Please read these instructions thoroughly before use. Failure to follow instructions may
result in equipment damage or failure, losses, injury or death.
DANGER:
To avoid possible electric shock:
• If the power cord has been damaged, DO NOT operate, PowerUV™ transformer and ballast
should be replaced.
• Prior to installation, inspect the quartz sleeve and UV-C bulb to ensure there was no damage
during transportation.
• After installation, the Power UV™ should be examined to ensure there is no water on parts not
intended to be wet.
• If the Power UV™ shows signs of any water leakage, immediately unplug it from the
power source.
• If the PowerUV™ falls into the water, DO NOT reach for it. First unplug and then retrieve it.
• Close supervision is necessary when the unit is used by or near children.
WARNING:
To reduce the risk of electric shock:
• Connect only to a properly grounded receptacle, which is serviced by a Ground Fault Circuit
Interrupter and never remove the ground pin from the plug.
• Provide a“drip loop” for the power cord. This is a loop in the cord below the level of the
receptacle or plug that prevents water from traveling along the cord in the direction of the
receptacle.
• ALWAYS unplug the PowerUV™ from power source when it is not in use, and before installing,
removing or servicing the Power UV™ components.
• If an extension cord is necessary, a cord with a proper rating should be used. A cord may
overheat if the cord is rated for less amperes or watts than the unit rating.
• DO NOT immerse the PowerUV™ or plug in water or attempt to use a wet plug.
• The PowerUV™ is NOT suitable for use in swimming pools, swimming ponds, or other
situations where bodily contact is made with the water. Although the PowerUV™ is designed
for outdoor use, it should never be submerged in water.
Avoid contact with the UV-C light. Light omitted can be harmful to the eyes and skin.
CAUTION:
To reduce the risk of equipment damage or failure:
• DO NOT place PowerUV™ in direct sunshine.
• DO NOT place PowerUV™ near ammable or other dangerous materials or objects.
• ALWAYS unplug the unit if there is no water running through it to prevent over heating.
• PowerUV™ is NOT submersible; do not place PowerUV™ where it might contact or fall into the
water.
• DO NOT operate during freezing conditions. Drain PowerUV™ and store in a protected location.
• DO NOT operate the PowerUV™ with a pump larger than the maximum ow rate indicated by
the unit specications. Operating with a pump larger than recommended can reduce the UV’s
eectiveness or cause damage to the UV and will NOT be covered under warranty.
IMPORTANT:
The Pond Guy® is not responsible for equipment damage or failure, losses, injury or death
resulting from failure to follow safety precautions, misuse or abuse of equipment.

in contact with PowerUV™.
• Place PowerUV™ before the biological

Step 1
Determine the Location
The PowerUV™ should be placed outside of the pond where
it can rest horizontally. Avoid locations that are prone to
water puddles or areas where the PowerUV™ could fall into
the pond. You can also mount the UV using the mounting
brackets (screws not included).
Step 2
Attach the Fittings
ATTACH the step down ttings to the inlet and outlet of the
PowerUV™ with the compression ring. Note: The o-rings
should be between the UV housing and the step down
tting to create a watertight seal when secure.
Step 4
Connect Plumbing
CONNECT plumbing and secure with a hose clamp (not
included).
Note: Water should ow into the PowerUV™ at the inlet
closest to the powercord. Water should ow from the unit at
the outlet on the opposite end of the PowerUV™ lter.
You may also switch the position of the outlet and viewing
window for added exibility.
Step 5
Start your Pump
START your pump, then plug the power cord into a standard
120-volt GFCI protected outlet. You will see a glow in the
viewing window while unit is functioning.
Optional:
TrueRock™ Medium
Boulder Cover
To camouage and protect
the PowerUV™ from the
outside elements use a
TrueRock™ Medium Boulder
Cover(#510332).
Step 3
Cut to Size
CUT step down ttings down to the largest connection
that will work with your plumbing. Step down ttings oer
options for use with 1”, 1-1/4”and 1-1/2” plumbing.
