Mégarom T.2 User Manual
Introduction
Thank you for purchasing a Mégarom T.2, which we hope will give you satisfaction for
many years.
The Mégarom T.2 is a MEM 7 cartridge compatible with all the machines of the 8-bit
Thomson T family: T9000, T 7, T 7/70, T 8, T 8D, T 9, T 9+.
It provides a 2 MB persistent and rewritable flash memory space that can be used freely
by the user. These 2 MB are accessed through 128 banks of 16 KB each, in the cartridge
space of the machine ($0000- $3FFF).
The Mégarom T.2 is 100% backward compatible with the Mégarom T.1 and all commercial
software distributed in MEM 7 format, including 32 and 64 KB multi-bank software (e.g.
Microsoft® BASIC 128).
It can also be used to develop and / or distribute software that requires up to 2 MB of R M
space.
Package Contents
The package contains a ready-to-use printed circuit board and a self-adhesive label for the
MEM 7 case. The MEM 7 case is not supplied.
The board comes preloaded with a compilation of various software.
Getting Started

2. Insert the cartridge into your machine. n T9000, T 7 and T 7/70, it is
recommended to switch off the machine before inserting the cartridge. n T 8/8D/
9/9+, hot-plug is possible. A reset will be necessary in this case to make the
Mégarom T.2 appear in the startup menu.

Going Back to the Main Menu
When the reset button (init. prog.) is pressed, the computer returns to its startup menu.
With the standard image preloaded in the Mégarom T.2, two situations are possible:
•a short press on the button shows in the menu the last selected application
(MEM 7 only)
•a long press (more than 2 seconds) brings up the Megarom T.2 in the menu. It is
thus possible to change the application without turning the machine off and on
again.

Differences Between MEMO7, CHG and BIN
In the standard image, there are three types of software storage: MEM 7, CHG, and BIN.
The MEM 7 type corresponds to applications usually provided in the form of a R M
cartridge. nce configured, such an application remains visible in the startup menu of the
machine, option 1 on T9000/T07/T07-70 and 0 on T 8/8D/9/9+. The MEM 7 applications
being run from the R M, their code does not take up space in RAM.

The type CHG corresponds to the usual applications provided on floppy disks, only for
T 8/8D/9+. These applications are thus loaded into RAM and can be called and managed
through option 4, "Appel de programme" in the startup menu. After a reset, the last used
CHG application appears as option 6.
The BIN type corresponds to free binary programs, loaded and executed in RAM.
Updating the Software
Updates for the standard Mégarom T.2 image are released from time to time.
The latest binary image as well as the update tool may be downloaded from the website
http://megarom.forler.ch.
There are two ways to update your Mégarom T.2 cartridge : with a set of floppy disks or
through a connection to a PC with CC90 (http://www.pulsdemos.com/cc90.html).
Follow these steps to update your Mégarom T.2 cartridge with the floppy disks :
1. Insert the cartridge in the host computer and switch on the computer.
2. Insert the first floppy disk and select B (T 8/8D/9+) or D (T 9) in the start-up menu
( n the T 7 and T 7/70, start BASIC 1.0).
3. Insert the next floppy disks as the computer instructs.
4. Programming the cartridge takes about 8 minutes.
5. When programming is over, press ST P or init. prog. (reset).
Follow these steps to update your Mégarom T.2 cartridge with CC90:
1. Insert the cartridge in the host computer, and connect the computer to a PC using
the same hardware as CC90.
2. Select "0 – Mise à jour" in the Mégarom menu.
3. Start the update tool on the PC side.
4. Click on the button "Flash the Megarom" and select the binary image.
