COMMISSIONING
WARNING: 230 Volts is present on the underside of the
printed circuit assembly.
Swivel the detector head to give
best coverage - by experimenting with various orientations,
the range control can be kept to a minimum setting.
7. With the room empty, ensure that there are no spurious
movement signals liable to cause interference. Check this
with ventilation and other machinery running. Possible
interference sources are: fans turning, flapping notices,
flashing fluorescent lights, running water etc.
Commissioning the photocell (if fitted):
8. Set switch number 2 to OFF. Adjust the control within the
photocell to a mid position. This may be turned down to suit
user requirements later. (See photocell instructions.)
1. Set all mode switches to ON.
2. Adjust the timer controls to zero (fully anticlockwise). Relay
R1 will time out in 4 seconds enabling the unit to be ‘walk
tested’.
3. Set both range controls fully anticlockwise.
4. Leave the area until the lights go off and then re-enter.
5. Adjust the ON range control clockwise to increase sensitivity,
ensuring all areas are covered and that the lights are kept on
with minimal movement.
6. Leave the area and wait for the lights to turn off. Wait a further
10 seconds then re-enter. Adjust the OFF range control
clockwise until the lights are switched on ONLY AS THE
AREAIS ENTERED.
*When set fully anticlockwise the OFF range is equal to
the ON range.
Complete Commissioning
9. Set the MODE switch to give the desired functions. (See Modes
of Operation over.)
10. Set the OFF DELAY controls as required - each control has a
range of 0 to 16 minutes. A setting of around 5 - 10 minutes is
usually appropriate.
Off Delay O/P1 relates to Relay R1. (Off Delay O/P2 is not used).
11. Lock the detector head into position before leaving (see detector
instructions).

WHERE TO FIT
A corner position often takes maximum advantage of the
detection pattern. Reflections from walls and ceilings will
increase performance further and extend coverage into non-
line-of-sight areas. The detector responds to movement
through glass therefore point away from thin partitions and
windows which view onto activity.
It is generally advisable to separate the detector and control unit
for convenience of wiring and commissioning. Do not fit in roof
space or other inaccessible locations.
CONTROL UNIT TYPE
For use with Switchlite Detectors: SWITCHLITE HI-BAY MW AMSF & SWITCHLITE MSF HI-BAY MW HP60
230V 50/60Hz 10 Watt. Switch capacity: 10 amp 230V ac. Incandescent lamps: 1500W max (at 230V)
Output: 1 x single pole volt-free
Each Control Unit will support up to two detectors.

INSTRUCTIONS
MODES OF OPERATION
Switchlite detectors are designed to work fully automatically,
ie when movement is detected the lights switch on, when the area
is vacated lights switch off.
Relay R1 can be set to semi-automatic by setting the first of the
4-pole switches to off. In these circumstances, a push-button is
required to activate the relay.
The MODE of operation is selected by a 4-pole switch inside the
enclosure.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
Cable access can be made at the side or end of the control unit
adjacent to the terminal blocks. Select entry points with care and
keep all cables away from the underside of the printed circuit board
(PCB).
Switch for Semi-Automatic Operation
The switch is connected across low-voltage terminals D and E.
It can only switch the load ON and cannot switch OFF in standard controllers. Accidental action when the room is in use does not matter.
The control unit responds to a change of state and not an ON or an OFF state therefore any convenient type of switch may be used. If several
switches are required, they must be momentary action types (eg push-buttons). Floor pads may be used for precise threshold or zone
control.
Note: The switch will not override the photocell (if fitted).
