A Note On Batteries
Congratulations
Set the control throws as followings for a starting point. After you
familiar with its flying characteristics then these control throw can
be tailored to fit your flying style.
IMPORTANT - Do not attempt to fly your model before
completing this very important section. Amodel that is not
properly balanced will be unstable and could causeserious
damage and/or injury. Adjust the battery location or add
weight as needed to achieve level balance.

Now that youhave completed theassembly of your Sept.
Fury we feel that you have a very capable and good
looking sports scale plane. We hope that youwill enjoy
this model andget many hoursof flying pleasurefrom its
use. Thank you for purchasing this Sept. Fury from
Thunder Tigerand we look forward to providingyou with
other greatR/C productsin thefuture.
The batteries arethe heartof your radio system. Makesure
you have fully charged batteries! With recharge-able
batteries, follow the manufacturers instructions to make
sure the batteries are fully charged, especial thefirst time
the radio is used. We would recommend you use larger
capacity (1000mAh) if you use high performance servosas
they will draw more current than ordinary servos.
If there is not a chartered club field in your community,
you will need tofind a large area freeof obstructions, and
has a smooth grass or asphalt surface to be used as a
runway. Forsafetysake, itshould be located wellaway from
houses, buildings, schools, power linesand airports.If you
will be flying within 6 miles of an airport, you shouldcheck
with the airportmanager beforeflying yourmodel.
Generally, the best place to fly your modelis atan AMA
(Academy of ModelAeronautics) chartered club field. Your
local hobby dealer cantell you if there is such a club in your
area orwrite theAMAfor information. It isalso a good idea
to jointhis organizationbefore flying your model sincethey
offer liability insurance that can protect youif yourmodel
causes damageor injury toothers.

RECOMMENDED TOOLS & MATERIALS
Adhesives - You will need two typesof adhesivesfor the
Sept.Fury -Epoxy and Instant(cyanoacrylate) adhesives.
We recommendthat youpurchase both5-minute and30-
minute epoxyto cutdown onassembly time,but youcan
get by withonly 30-minute epoxy if time isnot important.
Youwill alsoneed asmall bottleof both"Thick" and"Thin"
instant CAadhesive.
Tools -Model assemblycan bemuch easierif theproper
tools are used. Therefore, we have included in our
checklist tothe left, a complete listing ofall thetools we
used to assemble our prototype models. As you will
notice, many household tools can be utilized during
construction.

However, we recommend
the use of Thunder Tiger
custom - made Sept. Fury
muffler with two exhaust
pipes that divert the smoke
in tothe two concavities of
the fuselage to obtain a
more scale- like apperance.
This muffler fits TT and OS.

No amount of glue can make up for apoor-fitting part. Always apply Loctite ( not furnished) to all screwsand nuts to
prevent themfrom loosening.

PARTS CHECK LIST WING
1. Glue theCA hingesin aileron first.
2. Next attachthe aileron inplace then applyCA onboth
sides. Makesure aileronis firmlyglued.
3. Locate theaileron servowell then usea hobby knifeto
cut an"X".
4. Usinga sealingiron totack downthe coveringinside
the servowell. Trim theexcess covering away.
5. Locate the left wingservo case /hatch cover; secure
the aileronservo asshown.
6. Connect an extension wire for Aileron servo, heat-
shrink ortape theconnectors toprevent fromloosening.

7. UseThrottle Pushrod to guide the wirethrough the
wing panels.Fix thewire withmask tapeto preventfrom
falling backinto wingpannel.
8. Link aileron servoswires to CH1 onreceiver. Make
sure the direction iscorrect. Setthe servohorn inthe
neutral thensecure the servo horn screw nextsecure
the servocase inplace withfour 2.3x12mmwasher
wood screws.
9.Please notethat theaileron isthick; carefullydrill the
(5/64")2mm holes andmake sure theback plate isflush
with the hingeline at theother side of aileron. Secure
the control hornin place with 2x22 machine screws.
Trim awaythe excessscrew fromthe backplate. Install
the pushrod with metalclevis, M2nut andthread ona
piece ofsilicone tubeasshown.
10. If you would use Flap function then proceed the
following steps. If notthen skip tostep 24. Dothe same
procedure for Flap Servo Case. (Left FlapServo Case
shown) and thread thewire through thewing panel and
tape thewire endon wingroot.
11. Temporally secure the Flap Servo Casein place
with 2.3x12mm Washer WoodScrews.
12. Carefully cut away covering. The knife maylean
against the flap then carefully cutalong withthe flap
leading edge.
13. Next cut away the covering between Flap I and Flap II.
14. Carefullycut awaythe flapfrom trailingedge.
15. Ironthe coveringat thetrailing edge.
16. Locatethe joinerwire andguide tube.Make markat
the center ofthe joiner sideof the FlapI and FlapII.
17. Carefully drillingthe joiner side atmark. Note that it
is angle atthe joiner side please drillthe hole perpend-
icular to thesurface. Drill 2.5mm hole onFlap Iand 2mm
hole onFlap II.
18. Insert guide tube in Flap I and light apply CA glue.
Glue threaded end ofjoiner wirein FlapII, alsoapply a
drop ofCA glue.Cut twohinge slotsand glueCA hinges
in place.

19. Securecontrol hornon FlapI with2x15mm machine
screw.Note thecontrol hornshould awayfrom theedge
at least8mm. The 8mm isto clearthe riblocated atthe
center of bothflaps.
20. Leave 0.5mm clearance between ribs and flapthen
draw the hinge line. Next cut hinge slots to accommodate
the hinges on flaps.
21.Join twoflaps theninsert themto the wing in place.
Make surethere isno contactwith eachother thenapply
CA atthe hinge area.Move the flap again andmake sure
it workssmoothly.
22. Repeatthe sameprocedure onthe rightwing. Link
two aileronservo wireswith Ycord and plug to CH1 on
receiver. Plug theleft flapto Ch6and rightflap toCh7.
Refer toyour radiomanual andset upFlap.

6.Trim thetwo flaps atsame throws byadjusting the trim
knob and pushrodif necessary.
23. Epoxythe dowelsat wingroot inplace asshown.
24. Locatethe plasticretract well;trim alongthe molded
line.
25. CA the retractwell inplace, trimthe excessplastic
so it islevel with thewing root.
26. Placethe retractin placeand drill5/64"(2mm) holes
on the retractmount.
27. Locatethe retract pushrod andball end,thread the
ball end as shown. TheZ-bent endto the center ofthe
ball end isabout 218mm.
28. Insert the pushrod from wingroot then connectto
retract. Note:The ballend with "Tiger" side shouldface
upside ofwing.

Here is theset up procedureif using FF9:

29. You mayneed to trim the wires of retract so the
wheel axle islever tothe wingroot. Secure theretract in
place withfour 3x15mm SinkHead Screws. Flats should
be ground on thelanding gear legsfor thesetscrew to
prevent the wheelaxle fromrotating under load.

30.Locateand trimthe wheeldoor retainersas shown.
31. Trim theretract doorto fitthe retractwell.
32.Sand theupper retainer Band placeit inthe strutcoil
then apply CAon retainer. Nextplace thewheel doorin
place, theretainer will beglued onwheel doorprecisely.
33. Securethe retractdoor withthe retainers ( A,B )at
the strutcoil with2.6x5 mmwood screw.
34. Secure the lower retainer onwheel doorwith two
2x5mm wood screws.
35.Install the wheel and secure collar with 3x3mm set screw.
Make sure wheel rotates freely.
36. Locatethe twoside framesand rearbulkhead. Trail
fit in thefuselage. Make sure the side frameinsert to
the front bulkhead properly. Make mark on fuselage.
Remove all wood parts then use 200 grit sandpaperto
sand where you marked. Epoxy therear bulkheadin
place.
37.Locate servotrays andservo traydoubler thenglue
the doubler in place. There are two fueltank frames.
Make surethe shorterslot isin thefront andlonger slot
is inthe rear.
38. Theside frame iseither marked Lor R.Make sureL
is atleft side and Ris atright side. Always trial fitall
wood partsbefore youglue it. Suggest to glue the one
side frame inplace first, nextthe other sideframe with
servo tray at the same time. Fuel tank retainer and
retract servo mountstrips at thelast.
LANDING GEAR FUSELAGE
39. Gluethe shortguide tubein fuselage.
40. Trail fitthe two wing halvesand join them withthe
fiberglass tube.Never pushtoo hardas itmay damage
the tube-stop rib inside the wingpanel. Trim holesor
dowels mightbe necessaryto geta goodfit .

43.Epoxy the firewall in place.You mayinsert the firewall
to Lsideframe then push in theother side. Make sure the
firewall with right thrust angleas shown.
44.Assemble theAnti-Vibration EngineMount.
45.Install theAnti-Vibration EngineMount in placewith
5x40mm Socket Cap Screw and Blind Nut. You just
screw in thecap screw thenthe blind nutwill punch into
the firewall.
46. Trial fitthe batterybox, thenepoxy thebattery box
and bottom reinforced plyin place.When cured,lightly
apply epoxy onall firewalls areaas well asthe battery
box so the plywood could be fuel-proof. Justmix the
epoxy with nomore that 50% mix of alcoholthen brush
on firewall.
47.Remove thebalsa insert from thevertical fin.Then
use flat fileto file thein side ofthe tail toget a smooth
surface.
48.Trialfit horizontal tailin fuselage, centerit thenmake
marks ontail atfour sides.
49.Carefully usehobby knifeto cutlines insidethe lines
about 1~2mm. Remove coveringas shown. Never cut
too deepto hurtthe balsaplanking.
50.Cut awaythe coveringof leadingedge atthe rootof
elevator where the torquerod isgoing tobe installed.
CA three hingesin elevatorat thistime.
51.Trail fitthe elevatoron tailwith torquerod installed.
Do not glue atthis step. When satisfied, remove the
elevator andtorque rod.

41. Locate the hole that is located at thebottom wing
between retract the flap servohatch. Drill a5/64" (2mm)
hole through the fiberglass tube ofthe main winghalves,
and make surethey are firmly close tothe fuselage then
secure 3x20mm wood screws. Main wing is removable
for convenient in transportation. For best performance,
epoxy two wing halves isstrongly recommended.
42.Sandwich the three firewalls together; note thecross
laser cutmark should beon thetop andsmallest one at
the bottom.

54.Locate the fiber cloththen cut intotwo pieces atabout
100 x80mm (4 " x 3").
55. Apply 30 min epoxy at the gluearea andcarefully cote
the fiber cloth.
56.Lubricant oil to the hinges ofelevator torque rod. You
may sprayWD-40 onthe hobbyknife thenuse the knife
tip tocontact the torqueshaft andthe oilwill go into the
hinge. Epoxy theelevator joiner inplace.
57.Locate the elevator pushrod parts asshown, epoxy
the plywood inside thewood rod at twoends with wires.
Thread the M2 nuts and clevises and make surethe
whole elevator pushrod has no free play. Note the
orientation of the pushrod andclevis.
58. Apply a small tube ontothe clevis then connectthe
elevator pushrod to the elevator torque rod. Aflat head
screwdriver will help snapping the clevises onto the
torque rod link. Trim the elevator center notch for enough
throws (down) as page 24shown.
59.Install elevator servo, note the servo horn orientation.
Then adjust the clevises to make sure elevators are level
when servo is in neutralposition. Whensatisfied, remove
the elevator pushrod temporarily andsecure M2 nuts and
clevises firmly.
60.Trail fit the Vertical FinBracket inthe Vertical Fin, you
may need to sand to fit in place. When satisfied, use
furnished covering and iron on the covering as shown.
61. GlueVerticalFin Bracketin placeand makesure the
upper one and lower one are in line. Applyepoxy at
torque rodhole nextinstall theelevator inplace. CAall
hinges andmake sureelevator isfirmly secured.
62.CA the Rudder on Vertical Fin with three CAhinges.
Next install the control horns on the rudder with two
2x30mm machine screws and M2 nuts.
63.Locate the straightthreaded end,brass tube,M2 nuts,
clevises and wire. Cut wirein length90mm. First thread
the M2 nut and clevis then secure the M2 nut on clevis.

RUDDER
52.Sand the tail saddle toincrease the roughness as well
as inside of the flange as the fiber cloth will beapplied
later.
53. Insert andcenter thetail in place. Use books or boxes
to support tailends makesure it islevel to the main wing.
You may needto file the flange to get a good fit. Use
furnished rubber bands to reduce the gapand fix the tail
in place. Apply thick CAor epoxy whensatisfied.

66.Adjust thewire to make the circle as small aspossible
then use the pliers to crimp thewire firmly.
67. Drill the pull-pull wire exithole and threadthe wire
into fuselage to the rudder servo.Do the sameway to
servo end and use Z bend end rod. Do not crimp the
brass tubeat this moment until tail gear pull pull wires
are ready.
TAIL GEAR
68.Locate thetail gearmount, doublersthen gluethem
together then press theBlind Nutin thehole. Itwill be
easier touse hammeror mice.
69. Securethe tailgear mountright inthe frontwith four
2x8mm washer woodscrews.
70. Locatethe tailgear bag,and assemblethe tailgear
as shown. Note theorientation ofsteering arm,trim the
outer hole away as it is too long to installin thetail.
Secure steeringarm inplace with3x5mm setscrew.
71. Securethe tailgear assemblyon thetail gearmount
with 4x20mm sinkmachine screws.
72. Do the same procedure of the pull-pull wire on tail
gear.
73.Adjust the threaded end at theservo end to getbetter
tension of the four wires and make sure both rudder and
tail gear arein linewith each other.Crimp the tubes when
satisfied.
74. Locate the bottom tail cover, make the opening
according tothe tailgear.
75. Trim thetail coverand fitin place. Drill eight1.5mm
holes then glue doublers at the holearea. Itmight be
needed tosand thedoubler toadapt tothe curvesurface.
Drill theholes againon doublersthen securethe bottom
tail coverwith 2x8mmwasher woodscrews.
TAIL GEARTAIL GEAR
64. Next thread the wire through the clevislinkage then
tread to the tubeagain.

FUEL TANK
78.Install the Sept. Fury Exclusive Muffler(TTR9791),
which contains 2 angled exhaust pipes and aim to the
concavity of the fuselage for true scale looking.
79.Install Ttube fittingand fueltube plugas shown,this
will help you toknow fuel is fullwhen pumping.
80. Install the EZconnector on thethrottle servo horn
with M2 washer and M2 nut. Afterwards, thread the
throttle pushrodthrough theEZ connectand securethe
servo hornon theservo. Adjust theservo withthe radio
on, oncesatisfied withthe result,proceed tosecure the
throttle pushrodwith a3x3mm setscrew.
81. Locate the retractservo tray, glue the doubler as
shown. Then,install theretract servoon theservo tray.
82. Secure the whole assembly in place with four 2.3x12mm
washer wood screws. Next secure two Steel Balls on the
servo horn with 2x8mm machine screw and M2nuts. The
distance between two balls is 24mm. Fine adjust the retract
pushrod, and make sure the ball link with "Tiger" is facing
up. Switch on the retract gear tomake surethe retract gear
works smoothly.
83. Placea battery in the batterycase; use doubleside
tape to secure it in the fro ntof battery case.You can use
the excess servo tray plywood to make a block tohold
battery in place. It requiresan extensionwire to connect
to theswitch harness. Approximately 300-350g ofweight
will be added inthe front of thebattery case.See balance
section in page24 and add proper weightsto get right CG.
84. Secure battery boxcover withfour 2x8mmwasher
wood screws.
85. Connect all servo wires tothe receiver; wrapthe
receiver with foamto fully protectthe receiver.Insert
receiver between frameand fiberglass wallin fuselage.
86.Route theantenna alongthe fuselageand exitat the
tail gearopening. Tape thewire inplace asshown.
Locate thefuel tankand itsaccessories. Assemble the
tank asshown. Installthe fueltank inplace, connectthe
fuel lines andexit from thefirewall for enoughlength to
carb andmuffler.
RADIO
ENGINE
76.Place theEngine (ThunderTigerPRO-91 Shown)in
the Engine Mount then proceed to make mounthole
marks onthe enginemount wheredrive washeris 53/4"
(147mm) to the firewall.
77. Remove the engine and engine mount. Drill the 3.4mm
holes based on those marks then tap the hole with M4x0.7
thread tap. Connect throttle pushrod then secure the engine
with M4x20mm socket cap screws. Make a Z bent on throttle
pushrod as indicated.

COWLING
88. Drill needle valve extension wire exit hole. When
satisfied, secure the cowling in place with 2.3x12mm
Washer Wood Screws.Suggest toinstall PrecisionFueler
(TTR1115) for easy fueling.
89. Installthe propellerand furnishedspinner. What we
used hereis MasterAirscrew13x8.
90. Suggest to file the cowl located nearthe ventof
carburetor asshown, theengine will getenough airand
run smootherif youinstall a2 strokeengine.
91. Applyinstrument panelin the cockpit. Nexttrim the
canopy and trial fit the canopyon the cockpit. Glue the
plywood doublers and drill four 1/16" ( 1.5mm ) holes.
Secure the canopy with four 2x5mm washer wood screws.
Pilot shownis not included.
94.Trial fitthe upperCockpit on fuselage, drilleight 1/16"
(1.5mm) holes and glue small plywood doublers inside
the fuselageat the holes area. Drill the doublers again
and secure the cockpit in place with 2x8mm washer wood
screws.
92.Refer to thebox label thenapply all decals.Suggest
to jointhe firedecals togetherbefore applyingon
fuselage.
