GROUNDED PLUG
To reduce the risk of electric shock this appliance has a grounded plug.
(2 blades and 1 pin) If the plug does not fit fully into the electrical outlet
contact a qualified electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way or
use an adaptor.
BEFORE FIRST USE
1. Read all instructions carefully and keep them for future reference.
2. Remove all packaging.
3. Install the Filter. (See Care and Cleaning section)
4. Water boiled for the first time should be discarded.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
1. Install the Filter, if not already in place (see the Care & Cleaning section).
Never use this kettle without the filter. Removal of the Filter may prevent
the Kettle from shutting off.
2. Open the Lid by sliding the latch towards the handle and lifting upward.
Fill the Kettle through the Lid opening, with a minimum of .5 litres of water.
DO NOT attempt to fill the Kettle while it is plugged into the wall outlet.
DO NOT use for other than boiling water. Other liquids will contaminate
the interior of the Kettle.
DO NOT fill past the MAX level indicated in the water level window.
Overfilling may cause water to spill out when boiling.
3. Close Lid. Note: The Lid should not be opened when the Kettle is hot.
4. Place Kettle on a level, dry, heat resistant surface.
5. Plug cord into a 120V AC wall outlet. Note: NEVER PLUG KETTLE INTO
AN ELECTRICAL OUTLET WHEN KETTLE IS EMPTY.
6. Depress the On/Off Switch (‘I’/’O’) and the red indicator light will light up
to indicate that the Kettle is in the boil cycle. Once the water has boiled,
the On/Off Switch will move to the 'Off' (‘O’) position and the light will
go out. IMPORTANT: The kettle shuts off automatically only after the
boiling cycle is complete. If the kettle is unplugged before the boiling
cycle is complete then it will begin to heat as soon as it is plugged in

again. To shut the kettle off before the boiling cycle is complete, press
the On/Off Switch to the ‘Off’ (‘O’) position.
7. If you want to use the Kettle again, allow the thermal safety switch to
cool down for 15 to 20 seconds then depress the On/Off Switch to the On
(‘I’) position. If the On/Off Switch does not remain in the On position, the
water is hot enough to use without reheating.
8. Unplug cord from wall outlet before pouring water from the Kettle. Only
grip the Kettle by the Handle as all other surfaces will be hot.
9. Return the Kettle to a heat resistant surface after use.
10. IMPORTANT:If the Kettle is accidently switched on when empty, the
thermostat will automatically cycle on and off to prevent the Kettle from
overheating. If this situation occurs, press the ‘O’ side of the On/Off
switch and unplug the Kettle immediately. Let the Kettle cool before refilling.
11. DISCONNECT the Power Cord from the wall outlet when not in use.
CARE AND CLEANING
Exterior
Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the exterior. DO NOT use abrasive cleaners.
Dry exterior thoroughly before use. DO NOT IMMERSE KETTLE OR POWER
BASE IN WATER OR OTHER LIQUID.
Installing the Filter
Install the Filter before filling the Kettle with water. NOTE: NEVER REMOVE
OR INSTALL THE FILTER WHEN THE KETTLE IS HOT.
The filter must be inserted in the Kettle so that the tab is at the top and the

Gently push on the tab until it snaps into position in front of the spout. To
remove the Filter, push the tab down and toward the center of the Kettle,

Descaling
Under normal use, a deposit of scale may form on the inside of the Kettle.
This scale build-up can be delayed by pouring out old water and refilling
before each use.
If descalling is required, follow the directions below:
1. Unplug Power Cord from wall outlet and allow Kettle to cool completely.
2. Open the Lid and remove the filter as described above. Wash the Filter
under running water.
3. Scale which has accumulated inside the Kettle can be removed by boiling
equal parts of white vinegar and water (2 cups of each is recommended).
Once the water has boiled, allow mixture to stand overnight. Empty out
mixture and fill Kettle to the MAX level with fresh water. Bring water to
a boil and discard. For heavy scale build-up, repeat this process.

A short supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards of becoming entangled
in or tripping over a long cord. Extension cords may be used if care is exercised
in their use. If an extension cord is used, the marked electrical rating of the
detachable power-supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great
as the electrical rating of the appliance. If the appliance is of the grounded
type, the extension cord should be of a grounded 3-wire cord. The extension
cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or
table top, where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.
