interfere with the tou h s reen performan e.
2.1 Avoiding Hearing Damage
Permanent hearing loss may o ur if earphones, headphones or speakers are used at high volume. To prevent this, the
volume should be set to a safe level. You an be ome desensitized over time to high sound levels whi h may then
sound a eptable yet still ould be damaging your hearing. If you experien e symptoms su h as ringing in your ears,
please lower the volume or stop using the earphones/headphones. The louder the volume, the less time is required be-
fore your hearing ould be affe ted.
Hearing experts suggest the following measures to prote t your hearing:
•Limit the amount of time you use earphones or headphones at high volume.
•Avoid turning up the volume to blo k out noisy surroundings.
•Turn the volume down if you annot hear people speaking near you.
To establish a safe volume level:
•Set your volume ontrol at a low setting.
•Slowly in rease the sound until you an hear it omfortably and learly, without distortion.
62 Safety Tobii M-Series User’s manual v.1.2 - en-US

2.2 ower Supply and Batteries
The Tobii M-Series devi e uses Lithium Ion batteries. The batteries have a storage temperature range of between -20
℃/-4 ℉and 40 ℃/104 ℉within 6 months.
If you are in a hot environment, be aware that it an affe t the ability to harge the batteries. The internal temperature
has to be between 0 ℃/32 ℉and 50 ℃/122 ℉for the batteries to harge. If the internal battery temperature raises
above 50 ℃/122 ℉the battery will not harge at all.
Move the Tobii M-Series devi e and the batteries to a ooler environment to let the batteries harge properly.
Avoid exposing the batteries to fire or to temperatures above 50 ℃/122 ℉. These onditions may ause a battery to
malfun tion, generate heat, ignite or explode. Be aware that it is possible, in a worst ase s enario, for temperatures to
rea h greater than those stated above in, for example, the trunk of a ar on a hot day. So, storing the devi e, with bat-
teries installed, in a hot ar trunk ould on eivably lead to a malfun tion.
Only harge the Tobii M-Series batteries in an ambient temperature of 0 ℃/32 ℉to 35 ℃/95 ℉.
Use only the supplied power adapter to harge the Tobii M-Series tablet. Using unauthorized power adapters or Mi-
ro-USB ables may severely damage the Tobii M-Series tablet.
Do not disassemble or harm the batteries. Pay attention to the environmental laws and regulations whi h apply in your
area when disposing of batteries.
For safe operation of the Tobii M-Series devi e, use only harger, batteries and a essories approved by Tobii
Te hnology.
Do not open, or modify, the metal asing of the Tobii M-Series devi e or of the power supply, sin e you may be ex-
posed to potentially hazardous ele tri al voltage. The devi e ontains no servi eable parts. If the Tobii M-Series devi e
or it’s a essories are me hani ally damaged, ddoo nnoott ttoo uussee tthheemm.
If the batteries are not harged or the Tobii M-Series is not onne ted to the power supply, the Tobii M-Series devi e
will shut down.
If the Power Supply Cord is damaged it needs to be repla ed by Servi e Personnel only. Do not use the Power Supply
Cord until repla ed.
Only onne t the Tobii M-Series to the Power adapters shipped with this devi e.
The applian e oupler of the power supply is used as the Mains Dis onne tion Devi e, please do not position the
Tobii M-Series devi e so that it is diffi ult to operate the dis onne tion devi e.
Spe ial regulations apply to shipping Lithium-ion batteries. If dropped, rushed, or short- ir uited, these batteries an
release dangerous amounts of heat and may ignite, and are dangerous in fires.
Please referen e IATA regulations when shipping lithium metal or lithium ion batteries or ells:
http://www.iata.org/whatwedo/ argo/dangerous_goods/Pages/lithium_batteries.aspx
The Power adapters shall not be used without an adult or Care giver supervision.
The Tobii M-Series devi e ontains re hargeable batteries. All re hargeable batteries degrade over time. Thus the
possible usage times for the Tobii M-Series after a full harge an be ome shorter over time than when the devi e
was new.
2.3 Mounting
The Tobii M-Series should be mounted a ording to MANUFACTURERinstru tions of approved mounts. Tobii Te h-
nology or its agents are not liable for damage or injuries to a person or its property due to a Tobii M-Series falling from
a mounted onfiguration. The mounting of a Tobii M-Series is done entirely at the user’s own risk.
Tobii M-SeriesUser’s manual v.1.2 - en-US 2 Safety 7

2.4 Emergency
Do not rely on the devi e for emergen y alls or banking transa tions. We re ommend having multiple ways to om-
muni ate in emergen y situations. Banking transa tions should only be arried out with a system re ommended by,
and approved a ording to the standards of, your bank.
2.5 Electricity
Do not open the asing of the Tobii M-Series tablet devi e.
Do not open the asing of the Tobii M-Series Bluetooth® Speaker.
2.6 Child Safety
The Tobii M-Series are advan ed omputer systems and ele troni devi es. As su h they are omposed of numerous
separate, assembled parts. In the hands of a hild ertain of these parts have the possibility of being separated from
the devi e, possibly onstituting a hoking hazard or another danger to the hild.
Young hildren should not have a ess to, or the use of, the devi e without parental or guardian supervision.
2.7 Software
Using an antivirus program is strongly re ommended.
Software other than that whi h is pre-installed on the Tobii M-Series is installed at the user's own risk. External soft-
ware ould ause the Tobii M-Series to malfun tion and might not be overed by the warranty.
2.8 Magnetic Field
The Tobii M-Series Case and the Bluetooth® Speaker ontains magnets. Magneti fields may interfere with pa e-
makers, defibrillators, or other medi al devi es. As a general rule, maintain a minimum distan e of 6 in hes (15 enti-
meters) between any item with magnets and your heart devi e.
If you suspe t that the Tobii M-Series devi e is interfering with your pa emaker or any other medi al devi e, stop using
the Tobii M-Series devi e and onsult your physi ian for spe ifi information about that affe ted medi al devi e.
