SafeOperatingPractices
GeneralInformation
•Readtheinstructionscarefully.Befamiliarwiththe
controlsandtheproperuseofthemachine.
•Neverallowchildrenorpeopleunfamiliarwiththese
instructionstousethemachine.Localregulationscan
restricttheageoftheoperator.
•Nevermowwhilepeople,especiallychildrenorpets,are
nearby.
•Theoperatororuserisresponsibleforaccidentsor
hazardsoccurringtootherpeopleortheirproperty.
Preparation
•Whilemowing,alwayswearsubstantialfootwearandlong
trousers.Donotoperatethemachinewhenbarefootor
wearingopensandals.
•Thoroughlyinspecttheareawherethemachineistobe
used,andremoveallobjectswhichcanbethrownbythe
machine.
•Beforeusing,alwaysvisuallyinspecttoseethattheblade,
bladebolts,andcutterassemblyarenotwornordamaged.
Replaceawornordamagedbladeandboltsasasetto
preservebalance.
•Tororecommendsthatthemachinebesuppliedwitha
residualcurrentdevice(RCD)havingatrippingcurrent
thatdoesnotexceed30mA.
•Useonlya1.00mm2sizeextensioncordthatisnotlonger
than30mandissuitableforoutdooruse(ifapplicable).
•Regularlyinspectthepowercordsforsignsofdamageor
aging.Replacethemimmediatelyiftheyaredefective.
•Donotusethemachineifanypowercordisdamaged
orworn.
•Donotconnectadamagedextensioncordtothemains
supplyortouchadamagedcordbeforeitisdisconnected
fromthemainssupply.Adamagedcordcanleadto
contactwithliveparts.
Handling
•Mowonlyindaylightoringoodarticiallight.
•Avoidoperatingtheequipmentinwetgrass,where
feasible.
•Alwaysbesureofyourfootingonslopes.
•Walk;neverrun.
•Forwheeledrotarymowers,mowacrossthefaceof
slopes,neverupanddown.
•Exerciseextremecautionwhenchangingdirectionon
slopes.
•Donotmowexcessivelysteepslopes.
•Useextremecautionwhenreversingorpullingthe
machinetowardyou.
•Switchoffthemachinewhentransportingitfrom1
cuttingareatoanother.Stopthebladewheneveryou
movethemachineoffthelawn.
•Neveroperatethemachinewithdefectiveguardsor
withoutmountedsafetydevices(forexample,deectors
and/orgrasscatchers)inplace.
•Switchonthemotorcarefullyaccordingtoinstructions

cabletieandthepackagingmaterial(Model21136
only).
2.Carefullyunfoldthehandle,keepingthecablesclearof
thepivotpointssothattheydonotgetpinched.
CAUTION
Thehandlespasseachotherlikeascissors
whilefoldingandunfoldingthemandcan
pinchyourngers.
Keepyourngersclearofthepivotpointsand
crossinghandlesasyoufoldorunfoldthe

Inadouble-insulatedappliance,2systemsofinsulationare
providedinsteadofgrounding.Nomeansforgrounding
isprovidedonadouble-insulatedappliance,norshoulda
meansforgroundingbeaddedtotheappliance.Servicing
adouble-insulatedappliancerequiresextremecareand
knowledgeofthesystemandshouldbedoneonlybyqualied
servicepersonnelatanAuthorizedToroServiceDealer.
Replacementpartsforadouble-insulatedappliancemustbe
identicaltothepartsthattheyreplace.Adouble-insulated

CleaningtheMachineHousing

3.Tipthemachineontoitsside.
4.Carefullyexaminethebladeforsharpnessandwear,

onabladebalancer.Youcanpurchaseaninexpensive
balanceratahardwarestore.Abalancedbladestaysina

offthecuttingedgeontheheavyendoftheblade.
InstallingtheBlade
Installasharp,balancedbladeandthebladebolt.Thesail
partoftheblademustpointtowardthetopofthemachine
housingtoensurecorrectinstallation.Tightenthebladebolt
to20N-m.

afteryoureleasethecontrolbar.Ensurethatthecontrolbar

grindingorscraping,metal-to-metalnoisewhenyourelease
thecontrolbar,contactanAuthorizedToroServiceDealer.
Thissamerecommendationappliesifyouobserveheavy
vibrationswhenusingthemachine.
