up,removethemandlowerthechuteintoplace.
Anuncovereddischargeopeningcouldallow
thelawnmowertothrowobjectsinthe
operator’sorbystander’sdirectionandresultin
seriousinjuryordeath.Also,contactwiththe
bladecouldoccur.
Neveroperatethelawnmowerwiththegrass
deectorremovedunlessyouinstallacover
plate,amulchplate,oragrasschuteand
catcher.
1.MakesureoneJendofthespringisinstalledbehind
thedeckedgebeforeinstallingtheboltasshownin
Figure22.
2.PlaceoneJhookendofthespringaroundthegrass
deector(Figure22).
Important:Thegrassdeectormustbefreeto
rotatewithdownwardtension.Liftthedeector
uptothefullopenpositionandensurethatit
rotatesfreely,withoutbindingintothefulldown
position.
