Add Paper
When a drawer runs out of paper, the drawer display on the touch panel starts blinking.
Perform the following steps to add paper to a drawer.
1. To add/replace paper:
a) Pull out the drawer
2. Open the ream of paper and
remove any creased sheets.
Note: Remember to fan the ream of
paper to reduce static charges in
the paper.
3. Place the ream of paper into the
drawer, face up.
Note: Refer to the paper height
guides on the side of the drawer to
prevent overfilling. Maximum is
600 sheets for 17 lbs. Bond, 550
sheets for 20 lbs.
4. Adjust the front and side guides
to match the paper size and
orientation.)
Note: If you change the paper size
and/or the paper orientation,
change the paper size indicator at
the front, right corner or the drawer.
5. Close the drawer.

Dual Scan Document Feeder (DSDF)
In this job shop you will use the Dual Scan Document Feeder (DSDF) to make copies.
Do not use the following types of
originals in the document feeder
since they may cause misfeeding
or damage to the system:
•Badly wrinkled, folded, or
curled originals
•Originals with carbon paper
•Taped, pasted, or cut-out
originals
•Clipped or stapled originals
•Paper with holes or tears
•Damp paper
•Film or tracing paper
•Paper coated with wax
Perform the following steps to use
the Dual Scan Document Feeder
for a continuous feed of up to 100
sheets (up to 20 lbs.).
1. Collate the originals in the order
that you want them to be copied.
The top sheet of the originals will
be copied first.
2. Place the originals face up in
the Dual Scan Document Feeder.
Adjust the guides.

3. Tap Paper Select or touch the
trays on the image of the copier
near the bottom of the screen.
4. Select copy settings if desired.
5. Press the green Start hard
button.
Note: If you need to stop copying,
tap the red Stop button on the
touch screen, and then press the
Orange Function Clear button.

Bypass Copying
In this job shop you will use the stack bypass of the e-STUDIO to copy onto thick LT-R
(landscape orientation) paper.
Use the bypass tray to make copies on
specialty media like card stock, OHP
transparency film or non-standard size
paper. Non-standard size paper can be
within the range of 5.8 to 17 inches X 3.9
to 11.7 inches. Perform the following steps
to practice
1. Place the originals face up in the Dual
Scan Document Feeder.
.
2. Open the bypass tray. If the paper is
large, pull out the paper holder.
3. a. Move the paper holding lever
toward the outside.
b. Place 110 lbs. Index paper face
down in LT-R orientation on the
bypass tray.
4. Align the side guides to the paper
length while holding the tab.
5. Move the paper holding lever back
toward the equipment.

6. When paper is placed in the
bypass tray, the control panel
displays the menu for bypass
settings.
7. Under the ORIGINAL and COPY
columns, Tap the LT in both
columns.
8. Tap Paper Type.
9. Tap Thick 2 (~110lbs index).
10. Tap OK.
11. Select other copy features as
desired.
Then press the green Start hard

Automatic Paper Selection (APS)
In this job shop, you will use the e-STUDIO’s APS feature.
1. Place the originals you want to
copy in the Dual Scan
Document Feeder.
2. If the e-STUDIO isn’t in Copy
Mode, access the Copy mode
screen.
3. Tap APS if it isn’t already
enabled
4. Select other copy modes as
required, and then press the
green Start hard button.

Manual Paper Selection
This job shop will explain that sometimes APS cannot be used. You will practice how to select
Manual Paper Selection.
You cannot select Automatic Paper
Selection (APS) for the following
originals because their sizes cannot
be detected accurately:
•Highly transparent originals
•Dark originals or originals
with dark borders
•Non-standard size originals
such as newspapers or
magazines
Perform the following steps to set
the manual paper selection mode
1. Place an original you want to
copy on the platen glass.
2. On the HOME screen, tap Copy.
3. Confirm that the APS (Automatic
Paper Selection) button is off.

4. Select other modes as required,
and then press the green Start
Hard button.
5. Follow the prompt in the
message area of the screen.
6. When you have finished
scanning the originals, press Job
Finish.

Edge Erase
(Copying > Basic Copying)
Sometimes a dark edge appears outside a copied image. This can be caused by a gap
between the original glass and the platen sheet. You can delete this shadow on copies using a
function called edge erase. This feature is especially useful when you are making copies of
thick heavy cardstock or bound originals.
1. Place the originals face up in
the automatic document feeder and
adjust the guides.
2. On the HOME screen, tap Copy.
3. Tap the EDIT tab on the touch
panel.

4. Tap Edge Erase.
5 Adjust the width of the desired
amount of edge to be erased using
the up and down arrows.
6. Tap OK.

1 to 2 Duplex
In this job shop, you will perform the following steps to copy one-sided originals and produce
two-sided copies.
1. Place several originals
in the automatic document
feeder.
2. On the HOME screen, tap
Copy.
3. Tap 2-SIDED on the
touch screen.
4. Tap 1 -> 2 DUPLEX.
5. Tap OK to close this
screen or tap the START
button to begin copying.

2 to 2 Duplex
In this job shop, perform the following steps to copy a two-sided original and produce a two-
sided copy.
1. Place a 2-sided original in the
automatic document feeder.
2. Tap 2-SIDED on the touch
screen.
3. Tap 2 -> 2 DUPLEX.
4. Tap OK to close this screen or tap
the START button to begin copying.

2 to 1 Split
Perform the following steps to copy a two-sided original and produce one-sided copies.
1. Place a 2-sided original in the
Document Feeder
2. On the HOME screen, tap Copy
3. Tap 2-SIDED on the touch
panel.
4. Tap 2 -> 1 SPLIT.
5. Tap OK.
6. Tap the START button to begin
copy job.

Book to 2
(Copying > Duplex Copying)
Perform the following steps to copy a book-type original and produce a two-sided copy.
1. On the HOME screen, tap Copy.
2. Tap 2-SIDED on the touch
panel.
3. Tap BOOK -> 2.

3. Select the appropriate book
copying options to reflect where
the start and end pages of the
section of the book that you are
copying are located (one of four
choices). Right indicates that the
first page of the section of the book
being copied and the last page and
last page are both on the right.
Tap OK.
4. Select the drawer
corresponding to the desired paper
size.
Note: Only LT, LT-R and LD sizes
are applicable.
5. Place original book with its
bottom toward you and align its
center spine with orange indicator
line under copier glass.
