Observethe following safety precautions:
1) Read and Follow the pedestal assembly
instructions included with the pedestal.
CAUTION:Before beginning pedestal assembly,
carefully laythe front ofthe LCDPanelface down
on aflat, cushioned surface such as a quilt or
blanket. Leavethe bottom of the unit protruding
overthe edge of thesurface andassemble the
pedestal as indicated below.
Note; Extreme care should always be used
when attaching the pedestal stand to avoid
damage to the LCD panel.
2) Placethe TV ona sturdy, level surface that can
support the weight of the TV.
3) Be sureto secure the TVto a wall, pillar,surface, or
other immovable structure. (,_ item 25, page4).

usingaWail Bracket:
If you decideto wall mount your LCDTV/DVD
combination, always use a UL listed wall bracket
appropriate for the size and weight of the LCDTV/
DVDcombination (_ page 2):
1) CAUTION:Two peopleare requiredfor installation.
2) Unplug and removeany cables and/or other
component connectors from the rear of the TV.
3) Follow the instructions provided with your wall
bracket. Before proceeding, makesure the
appropriate bracket(s) areattached to the wall and
the backof the TV asdescribed in the instructions
provided with the wall bracket.
4) IMPORTANT:Always use the screws supplied or
recommended by the wall mount manufacturer.
5) After attaching the appropriate bracket(s) to the
wall and the back ofthe TV,remove the pedestal
stand from the TVas described below.

Removingthe PedestalStand
1) Carefully laythe front of the TVface down on aflat,
cushioned surface suchas aquilt or blanket. Leave
the stand protruding over the edge ofthe surface.
Note; Extreme care should always be used
when removing the pedestal stand to avoid
damage to the LCD panel,
2) Removethefour screwsshown in thebelow diagram.
This will allow removalof thepedestalstand.
3) Onceyou have removed all four screws, holding
the pedestal stand in place, remove the pedestal
stand from the TV.

Notes on moisturecondensation
Moisture condensationdamages the unit. PJease
read the following carefully.
Moisture condensation occurs, for example, when
you pour a cold drink into a glass on awarm day and
drops of water form on the outside of the glass. In
the same way, moisture may condense on this unit's
internal optical pick-up lens, one of the most crucial
internal parts of the unit.
Example of moisture
condensation!
Moisture condensationmayoccur in the following
situations:
.When you move the unit from acold area to a warm
area.
.When you usethe unit in a room in which the heat
was just turned on.
.When you usethe unit in an areawhere cold air
from anair conditioner directly hits the unit.
.When you usethe unit in a humid area.
Never usethe unitwhen moisture condensationmay
occur.
Using the unit when moisture condensation exists
may damage discs andinternal parts. Oonnectthe
power cord of the unit to the wall outlet, turn on the
unit, remove the disc, and leaveit for two or three
hours. After two or three hours, the unit will have
warmed up and evaporatedany moisture. Leaving
the TVconnected to the wall outlet will help prevent
moisture condensation in the unit.

which is called "title number", "chapter number" or

do not have these numbers.

This owner's manual explains the basic instructions
of this LCDTV/DVDcombination. Some DVDvideo
discs are produced in a manner that allows specific
or limited operation during playback.As such, the
LCDTV/DVDcombination may not respond to all
operating command. This is not adefect of the LCD
TV /DVDcombination. Referto the instruction notes
of discs. Thefollowing symbol may appear onthe TV
screen during operation.
It means that the operation is not permitted by the
LeD TV/DVDcombination or the disc. For example,
sometimes it is unable to stop the playback of
copyright message ofthe disc when the Stop button
is pressed. Alternatively, this symbol may also indicate
that thefeature is not availablefor thedisc.
Notes on region numbers
The region number of this LCDTV /DVDcombination
is 1. If region numbers, which stand for their playable
area, are printed onyour DVDand you do notfind
or_, disc playback will not be allowed by the
player.(In this case, the LODTV/DVDcombination
will display a message on-screen.). Some DVDsthat
haveno region code label may still besubject to area
restrictions andtherefore not playable.
8n VideoCDs
This LODTV/DVDcombination supports Video ODs
equipped with the Playback Oontrol (PBO)function,
version 2.0.You can enjoy two playbackvariations
depending ontypes of discs.

Sound andmovie can beplayed onthis LCDTV/
DVDcombination in the same way as a DVD.
• Video CDequippedwith PBCfunction (Version 2.0}
Inaddition to operation of aVideo CDnot equipped

interactive software with searchfunction by using
the on-screen playback menu. Some of thefunctions

Overview of steps for installing,
setting up, and using your new TV
Follow these steps to set up your TV and begin using
its many exciting features.
Carefully read the important safety, installation,
care, and service information. Keep this manual
for future reference.
Observe the following when choosing a location
for the TV:
• Read" hnportant notes about your LCD TV /
DVD combination " (_v page 9).
• Place the TV on the floor or a sturdy, level,
stable surface that can support the weight of the
mill Secure the TV to a wall, pillar, or other
immovable structure (_ page 4).
• Place the TV in a location where light does not
reflect on the screen.
• Place the TV far enough from walls and other
objects to allow proper ventilation. Inadequate
ventilation may cause overheating, which will
damage the TV. THIS TYPE OF DAMAGE
IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE TOSHIBA
WARRANTY.
3 Do not plug in any power cords until AFTER you
have connected all cables and devices to your TV.
4 BEFORE connecting cables or devices to the TV,
learn the functions of the TV's connections and
controls (_v pages 12-13).
5 Connect your other electronic device(s) to the TV
(_v pages 14-20).
fi Install the batteries in the remote control
(_v page 21 ).

in the power cords for your TV and other devices.

Connecting an HDNJ or DVI
device to the HDN]®input
The HDM[ input on your TV receives digital audio
and uncompressed digital video from an HDM[
source device, or macompressed digital video from
a DVI (Digital Visual Interface) source device.
This input is designed to accept HDCP (High-
Bandwidth Digital-Content Protection) wogram
material in digital form from EIA/CEA-861-D
compliant m consumer electronic devices (such as
a set-top box or DVD player with HDM[ or DVI
output). The HDMI input can accept and display
VGA, SVGA, XGA, WXGA, SXGA, 480i (60 Hz),
480p (60 Hz), 720p (60 Hz), 1080i (60 Hz), and
1080p (24 Hz /30 Hz /60 Hz) signal formats. For
detailed signal specifications, see page 75. Supported
Audio format: Linear PCM, sampling rate 32144.1148
kHz.

Connectinga digital audiosystem
The TV's DiGiTAL AUDIO OUT terminal outputs a
Dolby <_"Digital m OOLB_o,_ifALIOl"2-channel down-mixed
PCM (Pulse-Code Modulation) signal for use with
an external Dolby °_Digital decoder or other external
audio system with optical audio input.
You will need:
,_ Optical audio cable (Use an optical audio cable
that has the larger "TosLink" connector and not
the smaller "mini-optical" connector.)
