AND EXCELLENCE SINCE 1912
Since the turn of the 20th century, Tower has been designing,
developing and manufacturing housewares and small

UK and beyond. During the 1960s, the rise in popularity
of pressure cooking saw Tower become the UK’s largest
producer of pressure cookers, right through into the late
1980s. In recent years the Tower brand has been reborn with

• Do not put vinegar, starch, chemically, de-scaled water or de-scaling agents in
the water tank.
1. Remove the mains plug from the wall socket before filling (or emptying) the
iron with water.
Note: Wait for the iron to cool down before emptying or filling the water tank.
2. Set the steam control switch to “0” and the temperature control dial to “OFF”.
3. Place the iron on the heel rest and tilt forward at a 45 degree angle.
4. Pour water into the water tank opening and fill up to the maximum (MAX)
level.
Setting the temperature:
5. Stand the iron on its end.
6. Set the temperature control dial to the desired temperature setting.
7. Insert the plug in the wall socket and stand the iron upright.
8. When the desired temperature is reached the indicator light will turn off, and

Note: While ironing, the indicator light will turn on and off to maintain your desired
temperature setting.
9. If you set the temperature control to a lower setting after ironing at a high
temperature, please allow time for the iron to cool. This is to prevent scorching
on your garment.

4 - Before First Use
5 - Using Your Appliance

10
Steam-ironing:
This function can be used only at higher ironing temperatures.
••• or MAX for maximum steam.
1. Ensure that there is enough water in the water tank.
2. Set the required temperature. Turn the temperature control dial to the ••• or
the MAX setting.
3. Once the required temperature has been reached the power indicator light
will turn off.
4. Move the Steam Control switch to the required position. Steam should start
coming out from the holes in the soleplate.
5. A brush attachment is supplied which, when fitted, forces the steam into a
more concentrated area. This is ideal for steam ironing heavier cloths such as
drapes.
Note: Water may leak from the soleplate if too low of a temperature has been
selected. If this happens, turn the temperature control dial to a higher temperature.
Steam will be generated as soon as the correct temperature is reached.
Note: If the steam control switch is in the ON position, the steam pump is activated
and a continuous flow of steam is produced. If the steam button is pressed, steam
will be produced as long as the button is held down.
CAUTION! The steam is very hot. DO NOT allow steam to come in contact with
your skin, face or hands to avoid injury. Never direct steam at people or animals.
Dry ironing:
1. Set the steam control switch to 0.
2. Read the washing label instructions on your clothes to select the required
temperature.
3. Begin ironing when the indicator light turns off.
Anti-Calc function
• Your iron contains an anti-scale cartridge to reduce scale deposits.
• The cartridge is permanent and does not need replacing. However if you live in
a particularly hard water area, we recommend using bottled or distilled water.
WARNING: Never pour vinegar or other liquid cleaners for eliminating calcium into
the water tank.
IMPORTANT WARNING! The iron comes with a brush attachment that can be used
while ironing. Before attaching and removing the brush, make sure the iron is
turned off, unplugged from the mains and has cooled down completely.
Temperature control settings:
Read all garment labels when ironing and ensure the manufacturer’s ironing
guidelines are followed. The manufacturers ironing guidelines are often shown by
symbols similar to the below:
• Always check the garment label for ironing instructions before ironing a
garment.
• If the ironing instructions are missing, see the table below.

11
Ironing tips:
• Always check first whether a label with ironing instructions is attached to the
article.
• The iron heats up quicker than it cools down, therefore, you should start ironing
the articles requiring the lowest temperature such as those made of synthetic
fibres.
• If the fabric consists of various kinds of fibres, you must always select the lowest
ironing temperature to iron the composition of those fibres.
• Silk and other fabrics that are likely to become shiny should be ironed on the
inner side.
• Velvet and other textures that rapidly become shiny should be ironed in one
direction with light pressure applied. Always keep the iron moving at any given
moment.
• Pure woollen fabrics (100% wool) may be ironed with the iron set a steam
position. Preferably set steam button to the maximum position and use a dry
cloth as a mat.
Note: If your woollen fabric becomes shiny while ironing, turn the article inside out
and iron it on the reverse side.
• Sort your laundry: Wool with wool, Cotton with cotton etc. Start ironing the
fabrics requiring the lowest temperature and progress to the higher ones
because the iron heats up quicker than it cools down.
Note: If the article to be ironed consists of various different fabrics, always select the
temperature required by the most delicate fabric.
Textile Chart:

Read all garment labels when ironing and ensure the manufacturers ironing
guidelines are followed. The manufacturers ironing guidelines are often shown by
symbols similar to the below:

The temperature dial may not have been
rotated correctly, or it may have been
set to the incorrect position. The iron is
unplugged.
Set the temperature dial to the correct
position and check if the iron is plugged in.
No steam or
leakage.
The temperature dial has been set to
MIN or a temperature that is too low.
Set the temperature dial to the required
position or a higher temperature. Steam will
be generated once the correct temperature
is reached.
No burst of
steam or
no vertical
steam.
The vertical steam function has been
used too often within in a short period.
The iron is not hot enough.
Continue ironing in horizontal position and
wait a while before using the vertical steam
function again.
Leaking
water from
Soleplate.
The temperature dial is not set in steam
range. Set the temperature dial as per steam range.
The heat is still not enough. ONLY use the Steam Button after the indica-
tor light goes off.
The water is above the max level. Pour out the remaining water.
Weak Steam
Output.
Check if the steam button is in the
correct position. Set the steam button to the correct position.
The steam hole is blocked. Clean the steam hole with distilled water.
There is too little water in the water tank. Fill the tank with water.
No Spraying. There is not enough pressure or air
inside.

Limescale:
If you live in a particularly hard water area, we recommend using bottled or distilled
water.
WARNING: Never pour vinegar or other liquid cleaners for eliminating calcium into
the water tank.
After ironing:
1. Turn the temperature control dial to the “OFF” position and set the steam
control to the ‘0’ (no steam) position, then disconnect the iron from the wall
outlet. Empty any water left in the water tank and let the iron cool down
completely.
2. Wipe flakes and any other deposits on the soleplate with a damp cloth or a
non-abrasive (liquid) cleaner. Clean the upper part of the iron with a damp
cloth. Always store the emptied iron horizontally on a stable surface with a
cloth protecting the soleplate. The casing may be wiped with a damp cloth
and then polished with a dry one.
3. Keep the soleplate smooth; avoid contact with metal objects.
4. When not in use, store the appliance in a safe, dry place, out of reach of
children.
Anti-calc:
1. The Anti-calc function filters some minerals from the water to prevent
limescale residue from building up in the steam chamber. However if you live
in a particularly hard water area, we recommend using bottled or distilled
water.
IMPORTANT!
Do not use the appliance if the surface is wet or damp. Ensure the appliance is
completely clean and dry before use and storage.
