Overview
The dehumidifier is intended for those DaVinci fireplaces encountering condensation on the inside of the
glass. This is most common in areas with high humidity using air-conditioning inside the home (especially
when the temperature difference inside to outside is significant). The dehumidifier system consists of a circuit
board and a small heating element. When the circuit board detects the conditions for condensation (the dew
point – high humidity and cold air) it turns the heater on. The heater stays on just long enough to warm the
firebox interior, preventing water from condensing on the inside of the glass. The dehumidifier only operates
when the fireplace is off.
Before using this kit, make sure intake dampers are installed on all intakes. This prevents air
from circulating inside the fireplace and is the best method for reducing condensation.
SHUT OFF ELECTRICITY TO THE FIREPLACE PRIOR TO INSTALLING THE DE-
HUMIDIFIER (DISCONNECT CIRCUIT BREAKER).

Installation
1 Remove the outer and inner glass from the front of the fireplace (see manual for details). Remove the
crushed glass and media screens (see manual for details).
2 Locate the rheostat near the center of the fireplace. Remove the two screws securing the rheostat and
bracket to the horizontal support.
3 Re-position the rheostat (and bracket) to the left. Secure it to the horizontal support using the included
magnets. The rheostat should be located on an adjacent vertical support at a similar height.
NOTE: The rheostat may not be accessible using the external cover plate after it is re-positioned.


4 Install the heating element in the center of the fireplace in the intake channel as shown below. Secure
the heating element to the vertical supports with the two included sheet metal screws (these holes are on
the supports when it ships from the factory).
3 Burner Units – Move the Brackets on the Heating-Element Assembly Inwards
3 Burner units have a smaller span between the supports. Re-position the mounting brackets on the heating
element assembly to the inner holes to shorten the length of the assembly.

5 Place the circuit board in a location to the right of the heating element on the floor of the firebox near the
pressure switch. Make sure the wiring harness can reach the wires from the heating element. This
location should be away from any components and accessible at a later time. Secure the circuit board to
the floor of the fireplace with the two included self-drilling screws (use only the forward two mounting
holes).
6 Attach the heating-element-harness from the circuit board to the wires from the heating element
(orientation does not matter). Make sure to route the wires so they do not contact any hot components.

Secure using self-drilling screws
on the forward mounting holes.

7 Attach the power-in harness from the circuit board to one of the power leads inside the fireplace. There
are extra power leads on the right side. Disconnect the empty molex plug to expose the power lead.
Make sure to route the wires so they do not contact any hot components.
