System Requirements
Installation
• Computer with an available USB port; a
USB 3.0 port is required to achieve USB 3.0
data transfer rates
• 2.5" / 3.5" / 5.25" SATA or IDE drive
Notes:
• Hard drives are sensitive to static electricity and
must be handled properly to prevent data loss.
Always handle your hard drive with caution. Wear
an anti-static strap (such as the Tripp Lite
P999-000) when transporting it, or touch a
grounded metal surface to discharge yourself of
static electricity before picking up the drive.
• If your drive has not been formatted, you must
format it using your computer’s Disk Management
utility before you can copy and access files.
• For all IDE devices, set the Jumper setting on the
drive to Master Single drive mode. For Jumper
settings, refer to your hard drive manufacturer’s
documentation.
• Before unplugging the adapter, make sure to
properly eject the drive from your computer to
avoid any potential data loss.

Installation
1. Connect the external power supply to the
included power supply adapter and plug it
into an appropriate power source.
SATA Drive (For IDE drives, skip to Step 4)
2. Insert one end of the provided 7-Pin SATA
data cable into the SATA port on the
U338-06N and the other end to the SATA
data port on the SATA hard drive.
3. Connect the included 15-Pin SATA Power
Cable between the included power supply
adapter and the SATA power port on the
SATA hard drive. Go to Step 6.
IDE Drive
4. Align the IDE drive interface on the hard
drive with the appropriate port on the
U338-06N, then gently but firmly insert the
IDE drive interface into it. Be sure the drive
is firmly connected.
5. Connect the included 4-Pin Molex Power
Cable between the included power supply
adapter and the power port on the IDE
hard drive.

6. Insert the built-in USB cable on the U338-
06N into an available USB port on your
computer. The LEDs on the U338-06N
will illuminate if all devices are connected
properly.
Note: The two LEDs will illuminate solid blue to
indicate the unit is powered on. They will blink
when transmitting data.
7. The hard drive should be automatically
detected by your computer’s operating
system.

3-Year Limited Warranty
TRIPP LITE warrants its products to be free from defects in
materials and workmanship for a period of three (3) years
from the date of initial purchase. TRIPP LITE’s obligation
under this warranty is limited to repairing or replacing (at its
sole option) any such defective products. To obtain service
under this warranty, you must obtain a Returned Material
Authorization (RMA) number from TRIPP LITE or an authorized
TRIPP LITE service center. Products must be returned to
TRIPP LITE or an authorized TRIPP LITE service center with
transportation charges prepaid and must be accompanied by
a brief description of the problem encountered and proof of
date and place of purchase. This warranty does not apply to
equipment, which has been damaged by accident, negligence
or misapplication or has been altered or modified in any way.
EXCEPT AS PROVIDED HEREIN, TRIPP LITE MAKES NO
WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES
OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR
PURPOSE.
Some states do not permit limitation or exclusion of implied
warranties; therefore, the aforesaid limitation(s) or exclusion(s)
may not apply to the purchaser.
EXCEPT AS PROVIDED ABOVE, IN NO EVENT WILL TRIPP LITE
BE LIABLE FOR DIRECT, INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR
CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE USE OF

Notas:
• Los discos duros son sensibles a la electricidad estática
y deben manipularse adecuadamente para evitar la
pérdida de datos. Manipule siempre su disco duro con
precaución. Utilice una correa antiestática, como la
P999-000 de Tripp Lite, durante el transporte o toque

Instalación
1. Conecte la fuente de alimentación externa
al adaptador de suministro de energía
incluido y conéctela a una fuente de energía
adecuada.
Unidad SATA (Para unidades IDE, vaya al
paso 4)
2. Inserte un extremo del cable de datos SATA
de 7 pines en el puerto SATA en el
U338-06N y el otro extremo al puerto de
datos SATA del disco duro SATA.
3. Conecte el cable de alimentación SATA
de 15 pines entre el adaptador de la
suministro de energía incluido y el puerto de
alimentación SATA del disco duro SATA. Vaya
al paso 6.
Disco IDE
4. Alinee la interfaz de disco IDE en el disco
duro con el puerto apropiado en el
U338-06N y, a continuación, introduzca la
interfaz de disco IDE firmemente pero con
cuidado. Asegúrese de que la unidad esté
firmemente conectada.

5. Conecte el cable de alimentación Molex

Configuration requise
Installation

Remarques :
• Les lecteurs de disque dur sont sensibles à l'électricité
statique et doivent être manipulés de façon adéquate
afin de prévenir tout risque de perte de données.
Toujours manipuler le lecteur de disque dur avec
prudence. Porter un dispositif antistatique comme
le P999-000 de Tripp Lite lors de son transport, ou
toucher une surface métallique mise à la masse pour
décharger les charges électrostatiques du corps avant
de toucher au lecteur.
• Si le lecteur n'a pas encore été formaté, il doit d'abord
être formaté en utilisant l'utilitaire Disk Management
de l'ordinateur pour copier les fichiers et y accéder.
• Pour tous les dispositifs IDE, configurer le paramètre
de la bretelle sur le lecteur en mode de lecteur Master
Single. Pour les paramètres de la bretelle, consulter la
documentation du fabricant du lecteur de disque dur.
• Avant de débrancher l'adaptateur, s'assurer d'éjecter
correctement le lecteur de l'ordinateur afin de prévenir

Installation
1. Raccorder la source d'alimentation externe
à l'adaptateur d'alimentation inclus, puis le
brancher dans une source d'alimentation
appropriée.
Lecteur SATA (pour les lecteurs IDE,
passer à l'étape 4)
2. Insérer une extrémité du câble de données
SATA à 7 broches fourni dans le port SATA
sur l'U338-06N, puis l'autre extrémité au
port de données SATA sur le lecteur de
disque dur SATA.
3. Raccorder le câble d'alimentation SATA
à 15 broches inclus entre l'adaptateur
d'alimentation inclus et le port d'alimentation
SATA sur le lecteur de disque dur SATA.
Passer à l'étape 6.
Lecteur IDE
4. Aligner l'interface du lecteur IDE sur le
lecteur de disque dur avec le port approprié
sur l'U338-06N, puis y insérer délicatement,
mais fermement, l'interface du lecteur IDE.
S'assurer que le lecteur est solidement
raccordé.
