ULTRAFLEX guaranteesthatits products are well designedandfree frommanufacturingandmaterialdefects,
foraperiodoftwoyearsfromthedateofmanufacturing.
Fortheproductswhichare installedandusedonworkingorcommercialboatsthewarrantyislimitedto
oneyearfromthedateofmanufacturing.
Ifduringthisperiodtheproductprovestobedefectiveduetoimpropermaterialsand/ormanufacture,the
manufacturerwill repairor replace thedefective parts freeofcharge.
Directorindirectdamageisnotcoveredbythiswarranty.Inparticularthecompanyisnotresponsibleandthis
warrantywill notcover thedamageresultingfromincorrectinstallationoruseoftheproduct(exceptfor
replacementor repairofdefective partsaccordingtotheconditionsandterms above).
Thiswarrantydoesnotcover theproducts installedonrace boats or boats usedincompetitions.

1.1Descriptionoftheproductandwarningsforthecorrectuse
T71FCandT72FCmechanicalsteeringsystemsaredesignedtocontrolboatsequippedwith outboard,inboardor
power assistedsterndrive engines.SteeringsystemT71FCisusedfor singlecablesteeringhelms,while
steeringsystemT72FCisusedfor dualcablesteeringhelms.Both systems must beusedwith ULTRAFLEX M66
steeringcables.
T71FCandT2FCsteeringsystems featureaPlanetary Gear Design:three satellite
gearsrotateontheiraxisandatthesametimerotatearoundthecentralhelm
axis(seepictureaside).Thisallowsforequaldistributionofenginetorqueover
threepointsofthecentralgear,dividingandbalancingthesystemloads.The
benefits ofthisspecialdesignare increasedsystemlongevity,increasedefficiency
andless enginefeedbackcomparedtosinglepiniongear helms.
T71FCsteeringsystemisnottobeusedonboatsequippedwithenginesthatexceed
themaximum horsepowerratingoftheboatand/orthespeedof50 knots(57.5mph).
Incaseofengineswhichexceedthespeedof50knots,itisadvisabletouseT72FCdualsteeringsystem.
DONOTDISASSEMBLE ANYPARTOFTHEHELM DURINGTHEINSTALLATIONOFTHECABLE. THE
DISASSEMBLYOFTHECOMPONENTSCANGENERALLYCAUSESERIOUS DAMAGETOOBJECTSOR PEOPLE.
THIS PROCEDURECAUSESTHEWARRANTY LOSS OFTHEPRODUCT.

4.1Safetyrulesduringinstallationanduse
OBSERVESTRICTLYthefollowingsafetyrules:
ULTRAFLEX declinesall responsibilityincasetheuser doesnotfollowtheserulesanditisnotresponsiblefor
negligence whileusingthesystem.
-DONOTPUTYOURHANDS BETWEENMOVINGPARTS.
-Donotdisablethesafetydevices.
-Donotmodifyor adddevicestothesystem,without ULTRAFLEX writtenauthorisationor technical
interventionwhichwill prove themodificationinthereport.
-Donotusethisequipment for apurposedifferent fromtheoneithasbeendesignedfor,whichis
specifiedintheinstallationandmaintenance manual.
-Donotletunskilledstaffperformtheinstallation.

-Duringinstallation,keepthesystemclean,toprevent anyforeignbodytodamageit.Eventhesmallest
objectcouldcausepermanentbutnotimmediatelyperceivabledamages.
-Avoidcablebends 200 mm (8").

5MAINTENANCE
Poor installationandmaintenance may resultinloss ofsteeringandcausepropertydamageand/or perso-
nalinjury.Maintenance requirements changeaccordingtoclimate, frequencyandtheuse.Inspectionsare
necessary atleastevery twoyearsandmust becarriedoutbyspecializedmarinetechnicians.
Carry outthefollowingmaintenance operations:
- Periodicallywash with water andsoapthecomponents removinganysaltdeposit.
-Every monthcheckandifnecessary tightenall thenutsfasteningthesystem.

DANGER
Releaseorseparationofoneofthefastenerscancausefailureofsteeringsystemresulting
inpropertydamage, injuryordeath.
-Periodicallychecktheabsence ofcorrosiononthemetalparts ofthecableendfittingsandofabrasions
ontheconduit.
-Replace thedamagedparts thatcouldcompromisethesteeringsystemintegrity.

Whenfor anyreason,thesystemisput out ofservice,itisnecessarytofollowsomerulesinorderto

Conduits,pipelines,plasticornon-metalliccomponents mustbedisassembledanddisposedofseparately.
