Thank you for purchasing portable digital audio player UltraFM .
UltraFM is MP3 Player with simple design and FM radio function. It has
built-in memory of 64/96/128/256MB. It is able to support for format of new
music and is made to cope with the problem of intellectual property. You
can enjoy various content such as digital music and talk by playing a
cutting-edge digital audio player.
Caution : As HyunWon INC. owns copyright of this product, you must get its approval from the
company when using its description, picture, software and other related documents. In the
case of breach, you could be brought under the law. The content of the description could

What are MP3 and WMA File?
t compresses(1/12) data from CD through MPEG1-Layer3 and makes the
data into a file that can be used in PC computers. It provides music
equivalent of the quality of existing CDs.
What is portable digital audio player ?
It is a portable player that enables digital audio file to be saved and played
that could only be available in existing PC computers.

How to use extended battery pack
(If you use the extended battery pack, the length of playtime doubles.)
1) Insert the extended battery pack into the groove of UltraFM.
Turn on power : Press PLAY( ) button briefly
(over 1 sec) (before battery dies)
Turn off power : Press STOP( ) button for more
than 3 seconds.
Auto power off
Power turns off automatically when pressing
stop button for 5 minutes and pause button for 10 minutes.
If you turn on power again in the case of auto power off,
music is played from the beginning.
PLAY BACK POSITION : when power is turned off, and a user
turns it on again, music is played from the
part that was turned off.
When initially operating, the icons of the remaining capacity may not
readable.

When using a general battery, the player could stop working, even
though the battery capacity icon shows medium level, due to the
peculiarity of the battery.
(In this case, please change the battery into a new one.)
Please change into a new battery as the following cases.
When the icon blinks the signal of 'empty'.
When the player stops working immediately after pushing any button.
When the panel of the indicator doesn't change with any button in the
body on.

2) Turn the bolt located Á on the back of the
extended battery pack in clockwise rotation.
3) Insert the battery after opening the
extended battery pack cover and use it.
Amount of battery
The amount could be different depending on the type of batteries.
(The indication of the amount of battery left is equivalent of time the battery
of 1.2V Ni-MH was used.)
When the time of using the battery is shortened, the battery needs to be
discharged and then can be used.

Please follow the procedure to install M-ANY Loader Plus.
Notice
After installing M-ANY Loader Plus, connect UltraFM and PC by using USP Cable.
1. Insert M-ANY Loader Plus CD into CD-ROM drive. When CD is put in, Setup
program is automatically executed and the screen below pops up.

2. When Setup is started, follow the instruction of installation program.
If the Setup program is not automatically executed, find and execute Setup.exe file
in TCC folder of CD-ROM drive.
Select language for installation and click Confirm. Then two windows below pop
up and Setup starts.

3. If you click on a finger, the screen below pops up.
(If you click on the arrow below in order, the installation is completed.)
4.After completing the installation, M-ANY Loader Plus icon
appears on Windows screen.

How to connect UltraFM USB.

How to connect USB Cable.
Let’s link UltraFM to PC like the picture below. If M-ANY Loader Plus of the PC
does not recognize memory when connecting UltraFM with USB Cable, separate
USB Cable from UltraFM and then turn on the power and reconnect.

It's an abbreviation of Universal Serial Bus and a new connection way
between PC and a player.
The maximum band width is 12 Mbps.More than 127 USB could be connected to a PC.
What is USB?
When connecting USB, the power of digital audio is turned on.
When disconnecting USB after connecting, the digital audio player is rebooted.

If the PC has USB drive, you need not install a new one.
Insert software CD into CD-ROM drive.
(Don’t execute installation program.)
By using USB Cable, connect UltraFM and PC. (If the PC has no USB drive, the message
New Hardware Wizard comes up on the screen.)
Proceed the installation as instructed on the screen.
When asked the location of drive, select CD-ROM folder.
(When completing the installation, the message New Hardware Wizard" comes up on the
screen.)
To install USB drive, follow the instruction on the screen.
How to connect USB Cable.
To connect this MP3 player with your PC, the PC has to have USB PORT in the first place. USB
is supported on Microsoft Windows98 OS 2.1 Version.
The procedure to verify if your PC is equipped with USB PORT is as follows.
(1)Designate my computer' (2) Click on the right button of mouse (3) Registration of
information' (4) Device Manager (5) If USB Controller is not installed, verify if the PC has
USB PORT Enabled of CHIPSET FEATURES SET UP. The verification procedure is as
follows. Details could be different depending on BIOS. So please consult with BIOS store.
(1)During PC booting, press DEL' key and get into SET UP MODE
(2)CHIPSET FEATURES SETUP (3)Onchip USB (4)ESelect Enabled and install USB.
If MP3 is not recognized or UP/DOWN LOAD executed, (5) click on USB and verify CHIP
Controller of USB.
It could be a problem that Part of VIA CHIP doesn t support USB. So install USB related patch
file provided by VIA. (http://www.viatech.com)

- The latest version as of September 2001: VIA USB Filter Driver Version 1.08
2)Installation of Mini Port Router, bus master, the newest AGP device driver

Double-click on M-ANY Loader Plus icon
on the screen.
A. File filter
It enables a user to select according to the type of file.
B. File list Window
This window arranges files in a row in the given folder so that they can be
downloaded selectively into flash memory.
C. Memory Window
This window shows the title, volume and type of file on UltraFM memory.
D. Folder Window
This window enables a user to look at a specific file and select a music file more
easily. The content of chosen folder appears on the right file list window.
E. Memory
It shows the used and the total amount of memory and the state of connection of
memory. But, when USB PORT connection is not stable or doesn’t recognize USB
driver on PC, the message "Memory cannot be read."
F. File Transmission Button
This button downloads selected music file into player.

Select the view for a basic memory of the body.
Add the selected file to Memory. The chosen file appears in
Memory window as waiting for download."
Upload the selected file from Memory into PC folder.
(MP3,WMA file cannot be uploaded.)
Delete the selected file from Memory.
Format Memory.
In this case, delete all the files in Memory.
Shows the refreshed Memory.
Cancel file transmission between digital audio player and PC.

Method by using format icon
1Execute M-ANY Loader Plus and connect
digital audio player with data USB Cable.
2Select format type and click on mouse, and
then conversation box to verify format
appears.
3If you click on °ÆYES’ button, after
formatting the selected Memory, interactive
window indicating ‘completion’ of format
appears.
4If you click Confirm button, the format is
completed.

How to Format Memory

Fast format : Simply deleting file information saved in Memory of digital audio
player make the process faster.
Format All : The same as Overall format of floppy disk, and conducts the
examination of entire Memory of digital audio player one by one,
which makes the process slower.
Notice Once formatting begins, don t stop doing it.
If you remove USB Cable to force it to stop, the digital audio player
could malfunction.

1Purchase MP3 file on the Internet and save it in PC.
3Double-click M-ANY Loader Plus on the screen and execute the
program.
2Connect UltraFM with USB Cable.
4Click Flash button on the menu bar.
If you want to move favorite file from PC to digital audio player, follow the
instruction below.

5Select MP3 file or data file that will be downloaded on file list window.
Then, click ADD button and “waiting for download” will appear in
Memory window.
6If you press 'Download(F6),' it will be downloaded into the selected
Memory window.

verify the music.

How to upload file
Note) MP3/WMA file cannot be uploaded under related laws.
(Other files can be uploaded.)
If you want to move file from UltraFM to PC, follow the instruction below.
Select directory or folder in folder window.
(File list window shows the directory or file)
Select file in Memory window that you want to upload, and ‘Save it to PC’
button in menu bar, then the file is uploaded to the chosen folder or directory.
Note
File can be uploaded only with Drag & Drop.
When uploading/downloading file to UltraFM.
During communication, file cannot be played through a digital audio
player.
Other kinds of USB Cable cannot be used other than the one provided.

How to set up REPEAT MODE(1)

RANDOM / REPEAT MODE (Set up MODE for repeating songs : Setting the
mode for a song unit)
If you briefly press MODE while playing, REPEAT MODE DISPLAY is changed
in the order below.
NORMAL REPEAT REPEAT-ALL RANDOM RANDOM-ALL
: Play entire music file in order.
: Repeat only the designated song.
: Play once entire songs in order.
: Same function as RANDOM, but repeatedly play without
a stop.
:Regardless the order of songs, songs can be
changed. Play entire music and stop.
How to set up REPEAT MODE(2)

REPEAT MODE(repeat an interval of the current song)
1) If you press MODE button for a while when playing a song, REPEAT
MODE' is displayed.
2) If you press MODE button briefly, REPEAT A-’ is displayed.
3) After more than 3 seconds, press once MODE button briefly. Then,
REPEAT A-B is displayed and A and B are repeatedly played. If B is not
set up, the last song will be designated as B.
4) If you press STOP button, REPEAT MODE is canceled.( REPEAT A-’
makes it impossible to be changed to USER EQ.)

-Button is not recognized.
-When power is off, and HOLD is on, PLAY is not executed even if you press
PLAY button. Of course, button is not recognized.

How to set up USER EQ

USEREQ MODE
1) Only when playing songs. If you press MODE button once for a while, REPEAT
MODE is displayed. Then, if you press MODE button for a while, USER EQ is
displayed.
2) You can set up EQ by using REW/FF, VOL UP/DOWN button.
3) To cancel USER EQ MODE, press STOP button, and the title of song is
displayed.
4) To adjust User EQ
- If you press MODE button for a while, 5 Bars are displayed.
- First Bar is flashing.(Band 1 standby: Band 1 waiting for setting)
- To select Band, press FF/REW.
- The chosen Band can be adjusted by pressing Vol +/-. (-15~+15:31 )
- After adjustment, if you press STOP button, User EQ MODE is cancelled.

If you enter USER EQ MODE by using MODE button, EQ icon in the middle
of LCD Window is automatically changed to USER .

Fast Searching
1) If you press FF/REW button for a while, FF/REW
Searching is done in 4 speed pace, the searching
speed increases to 8 speed pace, 16 speed pace and
32 speed pace every five seconds respectively. (the
maximum speed is 32 speed pace)
2) During REW Fast Searching, when arriving at the
beginning of the song, the song begins to play
3) During FF Fast Searching, at the end of a song, FF
Fast Searching is started again from the initial part of
next song. (played for 2 seconds at the first part of a
song.)
EQ MODE ( )

The quality of sound can be deteriorated depending on music.
In this case, if you set up EQ MODE, you can enjoy quality music. In addition, if
the volume level is 25 or higher, you cannot recognize the value of EQ MODE.
How to set up voice and music recording MODE

Record MODE
1) MODE can only be set up at STOP.
2) If you press REC button for a while, VOICE RECORD is displayed. If
you press it again for a while, from MUSIC RECORD to ERASE
MODE to VOICE RECORD is displayed.
How to record voice
1) Voice recording function is only possible in MP Player MODE.
2) While at STOP mode, if you press REC button for a while, VOICE
RECORD is displayed on LCD screen.
3) Then if you press REC button briefly, voice recording is started. (REC icon
is turned on in the lower part of LCD screen, and Recording... is
displayed.)
You can listen to the file through earphone while recording. (loop back)

4)To stop recording, press STOP button.
5)To play the recorded file, press PLAY button. The recorded file is displayed
as V001, V002, V003,.....
6)During recording, if memory is insufficient, Memory Full flashes three
times. If Rec Stop is displayed, recording is automatically stopped.
(If battery is dead during recording, the recorded file is automatically saved
and power is off.)
While playing MP3, if you want to listen to the file with voice recording,
press PLAY button for a while.

How to record music
1) Insert one end of Line In Cable into the earphone terminal of ordinary
audio and other end into IN PUT AUDIO terminal of the product.
2) While at STOP mode, press REC button twice for a while, then MUSIC
RECORD is displayed on LDC screen.
3) Press REC button again briefly, music recording is started. (Recording
icon is turned on in the lower part of LCD screen, and Recording... is
displayed.)
During recording, you can listen to the file with music recording through
earphone.(loop back)

What is loop back?
It enables you to verify recoding is being executed through earphone.
(During loop back, there s a little noise, but there s no problem with
recoding the file.)
4)To stop recording, press STOP button.
5)To play the recorded file, press PLAY button, and the file is displayed as
E001, E002, E003,...
6)During recording, when memory is insufficient, Memory Full flashes
three times. Then, Rec Stop is displayed and recording is automatically
stopped. (If the battery is dead during recording, the recorded file is
automatically saved and power is off.)
How to set up ERASE MODE

Erase MODE
1) Erase MODE can only be set up at STOP mode.
2) If you press REC button for a while, VOICE RECORD is displayed. Then,
if you press it again for a while, MUSIC RECORD MODE is displayed. If
you press REC button again for a while, ERASE MODE is displayed.
In this case, if you press REC button briefly, it enters Erase MODE and the
title of a song you want to erase is displayed.
3)Select the file you want to erase with FF/REW button, and then if you press
REC button, Erase? Yes:rec NO:Other is displayed.
- To erase it, press REC button briefly, Erasing..” is displayed and it is erased.
- To cancel erasing, press other button except REC, then, Erase Cancel” is
displayed
And erasing is cancelled.
Erase function?
It is the function of erasing only with the product without connecting with
M-ANY Loader Plus.

FM RADIO MODE

Entering FM RADIO MODE
1) RADIO MODE can be entered only at STOP mode of MP player.
2) If you press MODE button for a while, FM Radio" is displayed and you can
enter RADIO MODE.
(FM Radio” is displayed for about 3 seconds, and then received frequency is displayed.)
3) FM icon is displayed in the upper left part of LCD screen. Radio icon is
displayed where EQ icon of MP Player MODE used to be shown. Volume is
displayed equally.
4) PreSet Number is displayed where Track Number of MP Player MODE
used to be shown. PreSet Number is about the number that can save a
total of 10 frequencies that users can listen to. (PreSet Number 1 ~ 10)
(If the number of currently received frequency is equal to the frequency
saved in PreSet Number, the number is displayed.)
Note
Each radio station uses different frequencies.
The range of frequency modulation differs from nation to nation.
If you turn on, you enter MP Player MODE. Then, press MODE button for a
while to change the mode.

Listen to radio at FM RADIO MODE (Frequency 87.5MHz ~ 108.0MHz) 1)
After entering RADIO MODE, press PLAY button to listen to FM
radio.(RADIO MODE )
- Antenna icon is displayed above FM icon.
- According to the rate of received frequency, the level is indicated with a bar.
To stop listening to radio at FM RADIO MODE(STOP MODE)
1) During playing, press STOP button briefly to stop listening to radio, and
then antenna icon is turned on. The frequency that you used to listen to is
automatically saved. (After turning on power, the saved frequency is
displayed.)
- If STOP mode lasts for about 5 minutes, Power down is automatically
displayed.
