NORMAS GENERALES DE SEGURIDAD
ADVERTENCIA: no intente operar esta des-
brozadora hasta que haya leído y comprendido
completamente todas las instrucciones y reglas
de seguridad contenidas en este manual, el no
cumplir con todas estas indicaciones podrían
provocar accidentes o serios daños personales.
Guarde el manual de operación y manténgalo
a la mano para cuando lo necesite o necesite
instruir a alguien más del como utilizar la he-
rramienta.
PRECAUCIONES DE OPERACIÓN
• Para una operación segura, lea y entienda
todas las instrucciones antes de usar este pro-
ducto.
• Los gases emanados del escape contienen
monóxido de carbono, un gas tóxico sin olor
o color. La inhalación de monóxido de carbo-
no puede causar lesiones cerebrales serias o la
muerte. Nunca arranque ni accione el motor en
un área cerrada o con poca ventilación.
• Limpie el área de trabajo cada vez antes de
usar la unidad. Retire todos los objetos tales
como piedras, vidrios rotos, clavos, alambre o
cuerdas que pudiesen resultar lanzados o enre-
dados en el hilo de corte o cuchilla, según sea
el caso.
• Para utilizar este producto utilice anteojos de
seguridad o gafas protectoras marcados con el
sello de cumplimiento de las normas de seguri-
dad locales.
• Use equipo de seguridad como pantalones lar-
gos de tela gruesa, botas y guantes. No use ropa
holgada o pantalones cortos o ande descalzo.
No se utilice joyas de ninguna clase.
• Mantenga alejadas a todas las personas, niños
y animales a una distancia mínima de 15 metros
(50 pies).
• No use esta unidad cuando se encuentre fa-
tigado, enfermo o bajo los efectos del alcohol,
drogas o medicamentos.
• No utilice la unidad en condiciones deficientes
de iluminación.
• Mantenga una postura firme y bien equili-
brada. No trate de alcanzar objetos fuera de
su alcance. Al tratar de hacerlo puede perder el
equilibrio o exponerse al contacto con superfi-
cies calientes.
• Mantenga todas las partes del cuerpo alejadas
de toda pieza en movimiento.
• Para evitar tocar superficies calientes, al utili-
zar esta unidad nunca coloque la parte inferior
de la misma arriba del nivel de la cintura.
• No toque las áreas alrededor del silenciador o
del cilindro de la unidad, estas partes se calien-
tan durante el funcionamiento.
• Siempre apague el motor y retire el tapón de
la bujía antes de realizar cualquier ajuste o re-
paraciones, excepto para los ajustes del carbu-
rador.
• Inspeccione cada vez la unidad antes de usarla
para ver si tiene tornillos flojos, fugas de com-
bustible, etc. Reemplace toda pieza dañada
antes de utilizar la unidad.
• El cabezal del hilo, gira durante los ajustes del
carburador.
TOME EN CUENTA LO SIGUIENTE: algunos
informes médicos indican que, en algunas per-
sonas, las vibraciones de las herramientas ma-
nuales pueden contribuir a una afección médica
llamada síndrome de Raynaud. Entre los posi-
bles síntomas está el hormigueo, el entumeci-
miento y la palidez de los dedos, síntomas pre-
sentes normalmente con la exposición al frío. Se
cree que los factores hereditarios, la exposición
al frío y a la humedad, la dieta, el fumar y las
prácticas de trabajo contribuyen al desarrollo de
estos síntomas. Actualmente se desconoce qué
tipo de vibraciones o cuánto tiempo de exposi-
ción a las mismas, si tal es el caso, pueden contri-
buir a la mencionada afección. Hay medidas de
precaución que puede tomar el operador para
reducir posiblemente los efectos de la vibración:
a) Mantenga caliente el cuerpo en tiempo frío.
Al utilizar la unidad use guantes para mantener
calientes las manos y las muñecas. Los informes
médicos indican que el clima frío es un factor
importante que contribuye al síndrome de Ray-
naud.
b) Después de cada período de operación de la
unidad, haga ejercicio para aumentar la circula-
ción de la sangre.
c) Tome descansos frecuentes durante el traba-
jo. Limite la cantidad de exposición al día.
d) Mantenga la herramienta bien cuidada, con
los elementos de sujeción debidamente apreta-
dos y siempre cambiando las piezas desgastadas.
Si sufre alguno de los síntomas de esta afección
médica, inmediatamente suspenda el uso de la
herramienta y consulte a su médico con respecto
a estos síntomas.
PRECAUCIONES DE REABASTECIMIENTO Y MA-
NEJO DE COMBUSTIBLE
• La gasolina es altamente inflamable y puede
ser explosiva bajo ciertas circunstancias, crean-
do condiciones potenciales que produzcan que-
maduras graves. Cuando vaya a reabastecer de
combustible, realice mantenimiento, drenar la
gasolina y/o cuando vaya a ajustar el carbura-
dor: detenga el motor y permita que se enfríe
antes de abastecer. NO fume cerca del área de
reabastecimiento.

CARACTERÍSTICAS
CONOZCA SU HERRAMIENTA
Antes de intentar usar este producto, familiarí-
cese con todas sus características de operación y
requerimientos de seguridad.
1. CUCHILLA. La cuchilla circular para cortes de
pasto, hierbas y arbustos. Para estos cortes se
requiere de utilizar arnés, guarda protectora y
mango en “U”.
2. CONJUNTO DEL EJE DE TRANSMISIÓN. Contie-
ne un eje flexible especialmente diseñado.
3. GATILLO DE ARRANQUE. Elaborado con re-
sorte para volver a su posición inicial cuando se
suelta. Cuando acelere, presione el gatillo gra-
dualmente para una mejor técnica de operación.
No apriete el gatillo mientras enciende la desbro-
zadora.
4. INTERRUPTOR DE ENCENDIDO. Mueva el inte-
rruptor hacia adelante para detener la desbroza-
dora, devuelva para arrancarla.
5. BLOQUEO DEL ACELERADOR. Antes de acele-
rar, presione este botón.
6. MANGO TIPO-U. Este mango puede ser ajusta-
do según su conveniencia.
• Asegúrese de que el área esté bien ventilada y
no haya presencia de llamas o chispas, y que no
haya ningún piloto encendido de ningún tipo
de aparato.
• NO sobrellene el depósito de combustible de
manera que esté por encima del indicador de
nivel máximo. Si sobrellena el depósito, el calor
puede producir que el combustible se expanda y
que se derrame a través de las ventilas que hay
en el tapón del depósito de combustible. Limpie
inmediatamente la gasolina derramada.
• Los motores pueden calentarse extremada-
mente durante su operación normal.
Para evitar el peligro del incendio: coloque el
motor a una distancia mínima de 1 m (3,3 pies)
de edificios, obstrucciones y otros objetos infla-
mables.
NO coloque objetos inflamables cerca del motor.
NO exponga materiales inflamables cerca del
escape del motor.
• Para evitar choques eléctricos, NO toque las
bujías, los tapones o los cables de las bujías du-
rante la operación.
• Para evitar quemaduras, NO toque el motor ni
el escape que haya sido calentado. El motor se
sobrecalienta durante su funcionamiento.
REGLAS DE SEGURIDAD
ESPECÍFICAS DESBROZADORAS
• Cambie el cabezal del hilo si está agrietado,
desportillado o dañado de cualquier forma.
Asegúrese de que el cabezal del hilo o cuchilla,
según sea el caso, esté debidamente instalado y
firmemente asegurado. El ignorar estas adver-
tencias pueden causar lesiones corporales serias.
• Asegúrese de que todas las protecciones, co-
rreas, manerales y guardas estén instalados de-
bidamente y de manera segura.
• En el cabezal de corte use únicamente hilo de
repuesto recomendado por el distribuidor. No
utilice accesorios de corte que no hayan sido re-
comendados por el distribuidor o fabricante.
NOTA: la instalación de hilo de corte inadecua-
do puede producir lesiones corporales serias.
• Nunca utilice la unidad si la guarda deflecto-
ra no está montada y en buenas condiciones de
funcionamiento.
• Al usar la desbrozadora , sujétela firmemente
por ambos lados del maneral. Mantenga el ca-
bezal del hilo por debajo del nivel de la cintura.
Nunca corte con el cabezal del hilo a más de 76
cm (30 pulgadas) del suelo.

7. ARNÉS DE SEGURIDAD. Un accesorio que sos-
tiene la desbrozadora al operador y que puede
ajustar su longitud.
8. CUBIERTA DEL FILTRO. Contiene elementos de
fieltro reemplazables.
9. TAPA DEL TANQUE DE COMBUSTIBLE.
10. TANQUE DE COMBUSTIBLE. Contiene com-
bustible y filtro para el combustible.
11. BOMBA BULBO. Al presionar las bombas bul-
bo (de 7 a 10 veces antes de comenzar), se elimi-
nará todo el aire y el combustible obsoleto del
sistema de combustible, y se cargará el carbura-
dor con nuevo combustible.
12. AHOGADOR. El estrangulador está ubicado
en la parte superior de la tapa del filtro. ARRAN-
QUE EN FRÍO: Tire de la palanca hacia arriba para
accionar el estrangulador para los arranques en
frío. Suelte la palanca cuando arranque.
13. GUARDA PROTECTORA PARA RESIDUOS. Ubi-
cado justo encima del accesorio de corte. Ayuda a
proteger al operador al desviar los desechos pro-
ducidos durante la operación de corte. No opere
la unidad sin la protección.
14. NAVAJA DE CORTE. Recorta el filamento de
nailon a la longitud correcta de 7’’, de cabeza a
extremo cuando el cabezal de nailon se golpea
en el suelo mientras esté operando. Si opera la
desbrozadora sin una navaja de corte, el nailon
se vuelve demasiado largo (más de 7’’), la veloci-
dad de operación reducirá la velocidad del mo-
tor, lo que sobrecalentará o dañará el motor.
15. CABEZAL DE HILO DE CORTE. Contiene un
hilo de nailon reemplazable que avanza cuando
el cabezal de recorte se golpea contra el suelo
mientras el cabezal gira a la velocidad normal de
operación.
16. BLOQUEO DEL ACELERADOR. Presione para
operar continuamente
17. CUBIERTA TRASERA DEL EMBRAGUE.
18. RETRÁCTIL. Tire de la manija hasta que el mo-
tor arranque, luego retírela lentamente. No deje
que el asa se retenga, de lo contrario, el motor de
arranque se dañará.

OPERACIÓN
MONTAJE DEL MANGO TIPO “BICICLETA“
Instale el manubrio en el soporte. Colóquelo en
una posición de operación cómoda y el tornillo
con agarradera.
ADVERTENCIA: no intente desmontar los dos
tornillos especiales. La posición de las dos abra-
zaderas se ha ajustado en un lugar adecuado,
no intente quitarlas ni moverlas. De lo contrario,
puede provocar lesiones personales graves.
AJUSTE MANGO TIPO “BICICLETA”
1. Gire el conjunto del tornillo de la manija en
U hacia la izquierda para ajustar la manija en U.
2. Gire el conjunto del tornillo de la manija en
U hacia la izquierda y luego arrastre la barra de
bloqueo de la manija en U para girar la manija
en U.

MONTAJE DE LA GUARDA
1. Instale la cubierta de seguridad en el eje con
el soporte de la cubierta de seguridad y los tor-
nillos provistos.
2. Apriete los tornillos después de colocar el so-
porte de la cubierta de seguridad en la posición
adecuada.
ARNÉS DE SEGURIDAD
1. Enganche el broche
del arnés en el asa para
la misma.
2. Ajuste el arnés para
dejarlo en una posición
cómoda de trabajo.
INSTALANDO LA CUCHILLA DE CORTE
1. Inserte la llave hexagonal (2) en el orificio es-
pecífico sobre la transmisión (3) angular y gire la
tuerca (7) hasta que la llave entre al orificio in-
terno y pare la rotación (la dirección de rotación
es en sentido de las manecillas del reloj).
2. Retire la cubierta de la cuchilla (6) y la tuerca
de presión de la cuchilla (5).
3. Extraiga la cubierta de la cuchilla y la placa de
presión de cuchilla.
4. Asegúrese que las ranuras embonen perfecta-
mente en la transmisión angular (4).
5. Instale la cuchilla (1) y la placa de presión (5).
6. Reajuste la cubierta de la cuchilla y la tuerca,
apriete totalmente en sentido contrario a las
manecillas del reloj.
7. Remueva la llave hexagonal.
ABASTECIMIENTO Y REABASTECIMIENTO DE
COMBUSTIBLE
IMPORTANTE: la gasolina es altamente infla-
mable y puede ser explosiva bajo ciertas circuns-
tancias. Cuando vaya a reabastecer de combus-
tible, detenga el motor y permita que se enfríe.
NO fume cerca del área de reabastecimiento.
Asegúrese de que el área esté bien ventilada y
no haya presencia de llamas o chispas, y que no
haya ningún piloto encendido de ningún tipo
de aparato.
ATENCIÓN: si utiliza solo gasolina sin mezclar
aceite para motores 2 tiempos causará daños
irreversibles al motor y esto invalidara la garan-
tía.
Los motores de 2 tiempos requieren una mezcla
de aceite y gasolina. La proporción de aceite de
motor y gasolina es de 25:1 (25 partes de ga-
solina por 1 parte de aceite para motores de 2
tiempos).
Para preparar 1 litro de gasolina mezcle un litro
de gasolina con 40 mililitros de aceite para dos
tiempos.
Vierta aceite para motores de 2 tiempos y la ga-
solina en un contenedor apropiado con las pro-
porciones indicadas anteriormente, agítelo bien
paraevitar quelos componentesestén separados.
Vierta la mezcla en el depósito de combustible.
IMPORTANTE: mezcle únicamente la can-
tidad de combustible necesaria para trabajar.
Cada que vaya a reabastecer de combustible
realice una mezcla nueva.
El dejar una mezcla de combustible almacenada
por largos periodos de tiempo, provoca que el
aceite se asiente. El usar este tipo de combusti-
ble puede dañar la máquina.
IMPORTANTE: nunca llene el tanque de com-
bustible por encima del tope (debe estar 3/4 por
debajo).
TIPO DE COMBUSTIBLE Y OCTANAJE
Al mezclar la gasolina con el aceite de motor de
dos ciclos, use solo gasolina que no contenga
etanol o metanol (tipos de alcohol). Esto ayuda-
rá a evitar posibles daños en las líneas de com-
bustible del motor y otras partes del motor.
No mezcle la gasolina y el aceite directamente
en el depósito de combustible del motor.
ATENCIÓN: utilice gasolina de marca 91 octanos
o superior, conociendo que es de buena calidad.

REVISE ESTOS PUNTOS ANTES DE OPERAR
1. Revise si hay algún tornillo, tuercas o perno
faltante.
2. Revise el filtro de aire. Límpielo en caso de
tener suciedad antes de cualquier trabajo.
3. Revise si el protector se encuentra bien colo-
cado y no esté flojo.
4. Revise si el combustible no presenta alguna
fuga.
5. Revise que las cuchillas no están desgastadas.
ENCENDIDO DEL MOTOR
COMBUSTIBLE
Coloque el motor sobre una superficie nivelada
antes de añadir el combustible.
• Abra la tapa del depósito del combustible y lle-
ne el depósito con una pre-mezcla de 25 partes
de gasolina por 1 de aceite.
• Vierta la mezcla lentamente para evitar que
se derrame, y así permitir que el aire salga del
depósito de combustible.
• Cierre la tapa firmemente.
IMPORTANTE: no sobrellene el depósito de
combustible de manera que esté por encima del
indicador de nivel máximo. Si sobrellena el de-
pósito, el calor puede producir que el combus-
tible se expanda y que se derrame a través de
las ventilas que hay en el tapón del depósito de
combustible. Limpie inmediatamente la gasoli-
na derramada.
ADVERTENCIA: el escape del motor de este
producto contiene sustancias químicas que se
sabe que causan cáncer, defectos de nacimiento
u otros daños reproductivos.
PUESTA EN MARCHA
ARRANQUE EN FRÍO
1. Mueva el interruptor (fig. 1-1) a la posición
‘START’ de encendido.
2. Presione el bombín cebador (fig. 2-1) de 7 a 10
veces o hasta que vea que el combustible pase
por los tubos que alimentan al motor.
3. Mueva la palanca del ahogador (fig. 2-2) a la
posición de cerrado .
4. Presione el gatillo del acelerador (fig. 1-2) y
en seguida presione el botón de bloqueo del
acelerador (fig.1-3) para mantenerlo acelerado.
5. Tire de la soga de arranque hasta que el mo-
tor comience a encenderse.
6. Empuje la palanca del estrangulador hacia
adentro (el arranque excesivo provocará el aho-
go del motor, lo que dificultará el arranque).
7. Tire de la soga de encendido hasta que el mo-
tor arranque completamente.
8. Cuando el motor esté encendido, quite el
arrancador poniendo la palanca del ahogador
en “RUN”(encendido) .
9. Desactive el bloqueo del acelerador (si está
activado) presionando brevemente el gatillo del
acelerador.
10. Deje que el motor se caliente durante unos
minutos antes de usarlo.
IMPORTANTE: si se tira de la cuerda de arran-
que repetidamente con el estrangulador puesto,
puede ahogar el motor y dificultar el arranque.
AVISO: si ha ahogado el motor, retire la bu-
jía y tire suavemente de la soga de arranque
para eliminar el exceso de combustible; luego
seque los electrodos de la bujía y colóquelos
nuevamente en el motor.
ARRANCANDO EL MOTOR EN CALIENTE
1. Coloque la palanca del estrangulador en la
posición de RUN (encendido) .
• Si el tanque de combustible aún tiene combus-
tible, tire de la soga del arrancador de una a tres
veces y el motor debería arrancar.
• Si el tanque de combustible se vació, reabas-
tezca y repita los pasos 1,2 y 7.
DETENIENDO EL MOTOR
1. Suelte el gatillo de aceleración y deje que el
motor funcione disminuyendo su velocidad du-
rante unos segundos.
2. Mueva el interruptor a la posición “STOP”.
NOTA: si la palanca reguladora está apretada o
bloqueada en su posición media, el motor no se
pondrá en funcionamiento. Compruebe que la
palanca reguladora está en la posición de total-
mente cerrada.
IMPORTANTE: nunca detenga el motor
cuando esté funcionando a marcha completa,
el motor se puede deteriorar prematuramente.
Reduzca la velocidad del motor por 1 minuto a
velocidad mínima de vacío antes de apagar.

OPERACIÓN DE LA DESBROZADORA
ADVERTENCIA: siempre coloque la unidad a
su lado derecho. Si utiliza la unidad colocándola
en el lado izquierdo del cuerpo, el usuario se ex-
pondrá a las superficies calientes y la salida del
escape, lo cual puede causar lesiones por que-
maduras. Sujete la desbrozadora con la mano
derecha en donde se encuentra en interruptor
y coloque la mano izquierda en el otro extremo
del maneral. Sujete firmemente la unidad con am-
bas manos durante la operación.
Se recomienda sujetar
la desbrozadora en
una posición cómoda,
con el mango trasero a
la altura de la cadera.
Siempre utilice la des-
brozadora a la máxi-
ma aceleración. Corte
la hierba alta desde la
parte superior hacia
abajo.
Esto evitará que la hierba se enrolle alrededor
del alojamiento del eje y del cabezal del hilo
que pudiese causar daño por calentamiento ex-
cesivo. Si la hierba se enrolla alrededor del ca-
bezal del hilo, apague el motor, desconecte el
cable de la bujía y desprenda la hierba.
El recorte prolongado con el acelerador parcial-
mente abierto produce goteo de aceite en el
silenciador.
ADVERTENCIA: además de los protectores
de cabeza, ojos, cara y orejas, use zapatos para
proteger sus pies y mejorar su equilibrio en su-
perficies resbaladizas. No use corbatas, joyas ni
ropa suelta que pueda ser atrapadas por las par-
tes móviles de la máquina.
· No use calzado abierto, ni esté descalzo o con
las piernas descubiertas.
· En ciertas situaciones debes usar protección to-
tal para la cara y la cabeza.
· Preste atención para no retroceder y empujar
la cuchilla.
ARNÉS DE SEGURIDAD
1. Monte y ajuste el arnés y el cinturón del hom-
bro.
2. Ajuste el botón del arnés para hombros, y
mueva el gancho a su cintura, luego ajuste el
cinturón (si hay un cinturón).
3. Enganche el seguro del arnés en el asa.
ADVERTENCIA: el gancho está situado en la
cadera derecha y el seguro de liberación rápida
está situado en el exterior.
4. Si la desbrozadora no se equilibra, ajuste el
gancho del arnés y el manubrio hasta que se
equilibre.
5. Para desmontar rápidamente la desbrozadora
del arnés, tire del seguro de liberación rápida
hacia arriba.
6. Inserte la lengüeta del broche en la ranura del
seguro de liberación rápida para volver a colo-
car la desbrozadora en el arnés.
ADVERTENCIA: antes de usar, revise el arnés
del hombro y confirme que está bien.
En caso de peligro, detenga la desbrozadora de
inmediato y tire del seguro de liberación rápida;
la desbrozadora se separará de su cuerpo.
RECOMENDACIONES DURANTE EL USO DE LA
DESBROZADORA
• Mantenga la desbrozadora inclinada hacia el

• La desbrozadora corta cuando se pasa la uni-
dad de derecha a izquierda. De esta manera se
evita el lanzamiento de desechos hacia el ope-
rador. Evite cortar en el área peligrosa la cual
es la que se encuentra mas cerca de la guarda
protectora.
• Use la punta del hilo para efectuar el recorte;
no fuerce el cabezal del hilo hacia la hierba sin
cortar.
• Las cercas de alambre y de estacas causan des-
gaste adicional en el hilo, incluso la ruptura del
mismo así como los muros de piedra y de ladri-
llo, los cordones y la madera pueden gastar rá-
pidamente el hilo.
• Evite tocar árboles y arbustos. La corteza de
los árboles, las molduras de madera, los reves-
timientos de las paredes y los postes de las cercas
pueden resultar dañados fácilmente por el hilo.

que la imagen muestra cómo bordear y hacer el
rebaje del pasto, cada operador debe encontrar
por sí mismo los ángulos que se adaptan al tama-
ño de su cuerpo y la situación de corte.
CORTANDO CON CUCHILLA
Existen muchos tipos de cuchillas, las que son
usadas más comúnmente son las siguientes.

ADVERTENCIA: no utilice las cuchillas de cor-
te para cortar árboles.
ADVERTENCIA: no utilice una cuchilla de
acero para bordear o raspar.
ADVERTENCIA: no corte con cuchillas desa-
filadas, agrietadas o dañadas. Antes de cortar
pasto crecido, inspeccione el área en busca de
obstrucciones tales como piedras, estacas de me-
tal o hilos de alambre de cercas rotas. Si no se
puede quitar una obstrucción, marque su ubi-
cación para que pueda evitarla con la cuchilla.
Las rocas y el metal desgastarán o dañarán la
cuchilla. Los cables pueden engancharse en la
cabeza de la cuchilla y aletear o lanzarse al aire.
CONTRAGOLPE: el contragolpe de la cuchilla es
la reacción que puede ocurrir cuando la cuchilla
(mientras esté girando) entra en contacto con
algo que no puede cortar. Este contacto puede
hacer que la cuchilla se detenga por un instan-
te y, de repente, “empuje” la máquina lejos del
objeto golpeado, suficiente para que el opera-
dor pierda el control de la desbrozadora. El con-
tragolpe de la cuchilla puede ocurrir sin previo
aviso si la cuchilla se engancha o se atasca. Esto
es más probable que ocurra en áreas donde es
difícil ver el material que se está cortando. Para
cortar con seguridad, acérquese a las malezas
que se cortarán de derecha a izquierda, por si es
el caso de que se encuentre un objeto inespera-
do o material peligroso; esto podría minimizar
la reacción de contragolpe de la cuchilla.
ADVERTENCIA: EN CASO DE VIBRACIÓN EX-
CESIVA – PARE INMEDIATAMENTE EL MOTOR.
La vibración excesiva de la cuchilla significa que
no está instalada correctamente. Pare el motor
inmediatamente y revise la cuchilla.
La hoja instalada incorrectamente causará lesio-
nes.
ADVERTENCIA: el área de corte es peligrosa
mientras la máquina se está deteniendo.
NOTA: RUIDO Y VIBRACIÓN.
1. El funcionamiento a baja velocidad puede re-
ducir el ruido y el temblor.
2. Para reducir el ruido, la desbrozadora debe

3. La vibración puede disminuirse si el mango se
sujeta firmemente.
4. Para evitar molestar a los demás, la máquina
debe operarse durante el día.

CAMBIO DEL CABEZAL DE CORTE
1. Inserte la llave hexagonal (2) en el orificio es-
pecífico en el ángulo de transmisión (3) y gire
la junta de la llave (4) con la mano hasta que
la llave hexagonal entre en el orificio interior,
bloqueando la rotación.
2. Asegúrese de que las ranuras de la junta de la
llave (4) se acoplan perfectamente con el ángulo
de transmisión (3).
3. Coloque el cabezal de hilo (1) atornillándolo
en sentido contrario a las agujas del reloj (vién-
dolo desde el cabezal).
4. Retirar la llave hexagonal (2).
REEMPLAZO DEL HILO
1. Gire la perilla retén en sentido contrario de
las manecillas del reloj y retírela.
2. Retire el carrete vacío del cabezal del hilo.
Mantenga el resorte acoplado al carrete.
3. Corte hasta 2 m de hilo para colocarlo en el
carrete.
4. Enganche uno de los extremos del nailon en
el cabezal y enróllelo, asegúrese de que coloque
los dos hilos en las ranuras opuestas entre sí en
el nuevo carrete.
5. Pase los hilos por las guías en el carrete.
6. Pase los hilos por los ojillos en el cabezal del
hilo. Empuje cuidadosamente el carrete en el ca-
bezal del hilo (tire levemente de los hilos hacia
afuera si es necesario). Al colocar el carrete en
el cabezal del hilo, sujete los hilos y tire de ellos
con fuerza para desengancharlos de las ranuras
en el carrete. Presione y gire a la izquierda el
carrete hasta que tope. Sujete el carrete y gíre-
lo levemente a la derecha. Suelte el carrete. El
carrete debe estar asegurado en el cabezal del
hilo. De lo contrario, sujételo y gírelo hasta que
enganche.
Asegúrese de que el cabezal del hilo y el retén
del carrete estén instalados en el eje de impul-
sión.
Vuelva a tirar de los hilos para girar el carrete a
la posición de corte. Presione el retén del carrete
a la vez que tira del hilo o hilos, para avanzar
que avance manualmente y así verificar el en-
samblaje correcto del cabezal de hilo.
7. Coloque el retén y asegúrese de que los extre-
mos de cada hilo sobresalgan aproximadamente
6 pulgadas. (152 mm) de cada ranura.
MANTENIMIENTO DEL TAPÓN DEL DEPÓSITO
DE COMBUSTIBLE
El tapón del depósito de combustible tiene in-
corporado una ventila de respiración.
Si se obstruye el respirador, el combustible no
podrá fluir al carburador, siendo esto causa de
problemas en el arranque o al hacer funcionar
el motor. Al mismo tiempo, asegúrese de que la
base del respirador/ventila se coloca firmemen-
te en la ranura que hay en el interior del tapón
como se puede muestra en la ilustración.
MANTENIMIENTO DEL FILTRO DE AIRE
Limpie el filtro de aire cada 20 horas de uso.
• Retire el tapón de la caja del filtro de aire.
• Retire la esponja de la caja del filtro.
• Lávelo con agua y detergente, séquelo cuida-
dosamente.
• Vuelva a colocar el filtro/esponja en la caja de
filtro de aire y coloque la tapa. Apriete con el
tornillo (fig.12).
NOTA: una limpieza del filtro inapropiada pue-
de causar daños en el motor. No utilice aire
comprimido para limpiar o secar el filtro. Limpie
siempre el filtro con un solvente cuyo punto de
inflamabilidad sea alto. Nunca utilice gasolina.
No haga funcionar nunca el motor sin el filtro.
SERVICIO DEL FILTRO DE COMBUSTIBLE
Limpie el filtro del tanque cada 20 horas.
• Extraiga el filtro de combustible fuera del de-
pósito.

IMPORTANTE: muchos solventes son alta-
mente inflamables y pueden provocar serias
quemaduras. Un uso inapropiado de solventes
puede producir un incendio o una explosión. No
use gasolina o solventes con un punto de igni-
ción bajo para limpiar el filtro de combustible.
Limpie sólo en un área bien ventilada alejada de
fuentes de chispas o llamas, alejado también de la
presencia de aparatos con pilotos.
MANTENIMIENTO DE LA BUJÍA
Cada 50 horas de uso
• Tome el vástago de la bujía con los dedos, y
levántela.
• Retire la bujía con una llave apropiada.
• Limpie los electrodos con un cepillo de alam-
bre para extraer depósitos de carbono acumula-
dos y la humedad.
• Examine que no haya grietas en la porcelana
u otro deterioro o anomalía. Cambie la bujía si
es necesario.
• Compruebe la abertura del electrodo y rea-
jústelo si fuera necesario. La abertura debe de
estar abierta entre 0,6 a 0,7 mm. Para cambiar la
abertura, doble un lado del electrodo con una
herramienta de bujías.
• Coloque y apriete la bujía a 14 Nm (1,4 kgf/m).
• Coloque el tapón de la bujía con firmeza.
• Intente sacar el tapón ligeramente para com-
probar que está firmemente colocada.
ALMACENAMIENTO
ALMACENAMIENTO (MENOS DE 1 MES)
Limpie todo material extraño de la desbrozado-
ra. Guárdelo en un lugar bien ventilado fuera
del alcance de los niños. Manténgalo alejado de
agentes corrosivos tales como productos quími-
cos de jardinería y las sales de deshielo.
ALMACENAMIENTO (1 MES O MÁS)
1. Drene todo el combustible del tanque en un reci-
piente para gasolina. Haga funcionar el motor hasta

3. Retire la bujía, vierta 0,5 ml de aceite para motor

SOLUCIONADOR DE PROBLEMAS

Compresión insuficiente:
Pistón, cilindro y aros de pistón defectuosos.

Bujía floja o Pernos de cilindro flojos. Apretar

GENERAL SAFETY RULES
WARNING: do not attempt to operate this
trimmer until you thoroughly read and com-
pletely understand all instructions, safety rules,
etc. contained in this manual. Failure to comply
can result in accidents involving fire, electric
shock, or serious personal injury.
Save operator’s manual and review frequently
for continuing safe operation, and instructing
others who may use this tool.
READ ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• For safe operation, read and understand all
instructions before using the trimmer. Follow all
safety instructions. Failure to follow all safety
instructions listed below, can result in serious
personal injury.
• Exhaust gas contains carbon monoxide, a
colorless, odorless poisonous gas. Inhaling car-
bon monoxide can cause serious brain injury or
death.
• Clear the work area before each use. Remove
all objects such as rocks, broken glass, nails,
wire, or string which can be thrown or become
entangled in the string head.
• Wear full eye and hearing protection while
operating this unit.
• Wear heavy long pants, boots, and gloves. Do
not wear loose fitting clothing, short pants, jew-
elry of any kind, or go barefoot.
• Keep all bystanders, children, and pets at least
15 m (50 ft.) away.
• Do not operate this unit when you are tired,
ill, or under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or
medication.
• Do not operate in poor lighting.
• Keep firm footing and balance. Do not over-
reach. Overreaching can result in loss of balance
or exposure to hot surfaces.
• Keep all parts of your body away from any
moving part.
• Do not touch areas around the muffler or cyl-
inder of the trimmer, these parts get hot from
operation.
• Always stop the engine and remove the spark
plug wire before making any adjustments or re-
pairs except for carburetor adjustments.
• Inspect the unit before each use for loose fas-
teners, fuel leaks, etc. Replace any damaged
parts before use.
• The string head will rotate during carburetor
adjustments.
FOR YOUR INFORMATION: it has been re-
ported that vibrations from hand-held tools
may contribute to a condition called Raynaud’s
Syndrome in certain individuals. Symptoms may
include tingling, numbness and blanching of the
fingers, usually apparent upon exposure to cold.
Hereditary factors, exposure to cold and damp-
ness, diet, smoking and work practices are all
thought to contribute to the development of
these symptoms. It is presently unknown what,
if any, vibrations or extent of exposure may con-
tribute to the condition. There are measures
that can be taken by the operator to possibly
reduce the effects of vibration:
a) Keep your body warm in cold weather. When
operating the unit wear gloves to keep the
hands and wrists warm. It is reported that cold
weather is a major factor contributing to Rayn-
aud’s Syndrome.
b) After each period of operation, exercise to
increase blood circulation.
c) Take frequent work breaks. Limit the amount
of exposure per day.
d) Keep the tool well maintained, fasteners
tightened and worn parts replaced.
If you experience any of the symptoms of this
condition, immediately discontinue use and see
your physician about these symptoms.
CAUTIONS FOR FUEL AND REFUEL HANDLING
• Gasoline is extremely flammable and can be
explosive under certain conditions, creating the
potential for serious burns. When refueling,
servicing fuel system, draining gasoline and/or
adjusting the carburetor:
Stop engine and allow it to cool before refuel-
ing. DO NOT smoke.
• Make sure the area is well-ventilated and free
from any source of flame or sparks, including
the pilot light of any appliance.
• DO NOT fill the tank so the fuel level rises into
the filler neck or level surface of level gauge. If
the tank is overfilled, heat may cause the fuel to
expand and overflow through the vents in the
tank cap. Wipe off any spilled gasoline imme-
diately.
• Engines can become extremely hot during nor-
mal operation.
To prevent fire hazard: Keep the engine at least
1 m (3.3 ft) away from buildings, obstructions
and other flammable objects. DO NOT place
flammable objects close to the engine. DO NOT
expose combustible materials to the engine ex-
haust. To avoid getting an electric shock, DO
NOT touch spark plugs, plug caps or spark plug
leads during engine running.
To avoid a serious burn, DO NOT touch a hot en-
gine or muffler. The engine becomes hot during

operation. Before you service or remove parts,
stop engine and allow the engine to cool.
SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES FOR GAS
TRIMMERS
• DO NOT place hands or feet near moving or
rotating parts. Place a protective cover over pul-
ley, V-belt or coupling.
• DO NOT run engine at excessive speeds. This
may result in injury.
• Replace string head if cracked, chipped, or
damaged in any way. Be sure the string head is
properly installed and securely fastened. Failure
to do so can cause serious injury.
• Make sure all guards, straps, deflectors and
handles are properly and securely attached.
• Use only the manufacturer’s replacement
string in the cutting head. Do not use any other
cutting attachment.
• Never operate unit without the grass deflector
in place and in good condition.
• Maintain a firm grip on both handles while
trimming. Keep string head below waist level.
Never cut with the string head located over 76
cm (30 in) or more above the ground.
FEATURES
KNOW YOUR TOOL
Before attempting to use this product, become
familiar with all of its operating features and

1. BLADE. Circular blade for grass, weed or brush
cutting applications. Harness, plastic shield and
‘U’ handles required for blade operation.
2. DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY. Contains a specially
designed inner flexible drive shaft.
3. THROTTLE TRIGGER. Spring loaded to return
to idle when released. When accelerating, press
trigger gradually for best operating technique.
Do not hold trigger while starting.
4. IGNITION SWITCH. Move switch forward to
stop, back to start.
5. THROTTLE LOCKOUT. Before acceleration,
compress it please.
6. U-HANDLE this handle can be adjusted at
your convenience for comfort.
7. HARNESS ASSEMBLY an attachment which
hang the machine on the operator and adjust-
able in length.
8. AIR CLEANER COVER. Contains replaceable
felt element.
9. FUEL TANK LID.
10. FUEL TANK Contains fuel and fuel filter.
11. PRIMING BULB Pressing the priming bulb
pumps (7 to 10 times before starting), will re-
move all air and stale fuel from fuel system and
bring fresh fuel to the carburetor.
12. CHOKE the choke control is located on the
top of the filter cover.
COLD STARTS: Pull lever up to close choke for
cold starts. Push lever down for RUN position.
13. DEBRIS SHIELD. Mounted just above the
cutting attachment. Helps protect operator by
deflecting debris produced during the trimming
operation. Do not operate unit without shield.
14. CUT-OFF KNIFE. Trims nylon filament to the
correct length (7’), head to end of line-when
nylon trimming head is bumped on the ground
during the operation of advancing the line. If
trimmer is operated without a cut-off knife the
line becomes too long (more than 7’) the oper-
ating speed will slow down the engine, this will
overheat or damage the engine.
15. NYLON CUTTER HEAD. Contains replace-
able nylon trimming line that advances when
the trimmer head is tapped against the ground
while the head is turning at normal operating
speed.

INSTRUCTIONS
ASSEMBLY OF THE “BICYCLE” TYPE HANDLE
Install the handlebar in the holder. Place it in
a comfortable operating position and the screw
with handle.
WARNING: do not attempt to disassemble
the two special screws. The position of the two
clamps has been adjusted in a suitable place, do
not try to remove or move them. Otherwise, it
can cause serious personal injury.
“BICYCLE” TYPE HANDLE ADJUSTMENT
1. Turn the screw assembly of the U-handle to
the left to adjust the U-handle
2. Rotate the U-handle screw assembly to the
left and then drag the U-handle lock bar to turn
the U-handle.
ASSEMBLY OF THE GUARD
1. Install the safety cover on the shaft with the
safety cover bracket and the provided screws.
2. Tighten the screws after placing the safety
cover bracket in the proper position.
SAFETY HARNESS
1. Attach the headgear
clip on the handle of
the shaft.
2. Adjust the harness
to place it in a comfort-
able position.
INSTALLING THE CUTTING BLADE
1. Insert the hexagonal key (2) into the specific
hole on the angular drive (3) and turn the nut
(7) until the key enters the internal hole and
stop the rotation (the direction of rotation is in
the clockwise direction.
2. Remove the blade cover (6) and the blade
pressure nut (5).
3. Remove the blade cover and the blade pres-
sure plate.
4. Make sure that the grooves fit perfectly into
the angular transmission (4).
5. Install the blade (1) and the pressure plate (5).
6. Readjust blade cover and nut, tighten fully
counterclockwise.
7. Remove the hexagonal wrench.
FUEL AND REFUELING
IMPORTANT: gasoline is highly flammable
and can be explosive under certain circumstanc-
es. When refueling, stop the engine and allow it

to cool. DO NOT smoke near the replenishment
area.
Make sure that the area is well ventilated and
that there are no flames or sparks, and that
there is no pilot light on any type of device.
ATTENTION: running on gasoline only will cause
the engine to seize. Use gasoline-oil mixture.
2 - stroke Engines requires a gasoline-oil mix-
ture. Gasoline and engine oil mixing ratio is 25:1
(Gasoline; 25, 2 - stroke engine Oil; 1).
Pour the 2 - stroke engine oil and the gasoline
into an appropriate container with the ratio
shown above, and shake it thoroughly to avoid
the separation of them.
And then, pour it into the fuel tank.
IMPORTANT: mix only the amount needed to
work. Prepare a new mix every time you need to
refuel the fuel tank. Leaving the mixture stored
for long periods of time causes the oil to seize,
this can cause serious damage to the compo-
nents or the engine.
FUEL TYPE AND OCTANE RATING
When mixing gasoline with two-cycle engine
oil, use only gasoline that does not contain
ethanol or methanol (types of alcohol). This will
help prevent possible damage to the fuel lines
of the engine and other parts of the engine.
Do not mix gasoline and oil directly in the en-
gine fuel tank.
ATTENTION: use gasoline marked 91 octane or
higher, knowing that it is of good quality.
CHECK THESE POINTS BEFORE OPERATING
1. Check for any missing nuts or bolts.
2. Check the air filter. Clean it in case of dirt be-
fore any work.
3. Check if the protector is properly positioned
and not loose.
4. Check if the fuel does not show any leakage.
5. Check that the blades are not worn.
STARTING THE ENGINE
FUELING
Place the engine on a level surface before add-
ing the fuel.
• Open the fuel filler flap and fill the tank with a
pre-mix of 25 parts of gasoline for 1 oil.
• Pour the mixture slowly to prevent it from
spilling, and thus allow air to escape from the
fuel tank.
• Close the lid firmly.
IMPORTANT: never fill the tank so the fuel
level rises into the filler neck. If the tank is over-
filled, heat may cause the fuel to expand and
overflow through the vents in the tank cap.
After refueling, make sure the fuel tank cap is
closed securely. If gasoline is spilled on the fuel
tank, wipe it off immediately.
WARNING: the engine exhaust of this prod-
uct contains chemicals known to cause cancer,
birth defects or other reproductive harm.
STARTING
COLD START
1. Move the switch (fig. 1-1) to the “START” po-
sition.
2. Press the primer cylinder (fig. 2-1) 7 to 10
times or until you see fuel passing through the
tubes that feed the engine.
3. Move the choke lever (fig. 2-2) to the closed
position .
4. Press the throttle trigger (fig. 1-2) and then
press the throttle lock button (fig. 1-3) to keep
it accelerated.
5. Pull the starter rope until the engine starts
to light.
6. Push the choke lever inwards (excessive start-
ing will cause engine choking, which will make
starting difficult).
7. Pull the ignition cable until the engine starts
completely.
8. When the engine is running, remove the
starter by turning the choke lever to “RUN” .
9. Deactivate the throttle lock (if activated) by
briefly pressing the throttle trigger.
10. Allow the engine to warm up for a few min-
utes before using it.
IMPORTANT: pulling the starter rope repeat-
edly with the choke on can choke the engine
and make starting difficult.
NOTICE: if you have choked the engine, re-
move the spark plug and gently pull the starting
rope to remove excess fuel; Then dry the spark
plug electrodes and put them back in the en-
gine.
STARTING THE ENGINE IN HOT
1. Set the choke lever to the RUN position .
• If the fuel tank still has fuel, pull the rope from
the starter one to three times and the engine
should start.
• If the fuel tank has been emptied, replenish
and repeat steps 1,2 and 7.

STOPPING THE ENGINE
1. Release the acceleration trigger and allow the
engine to slow down for a few seconds.
2. Move the switch to the “STOP” position.
NOTE: if the throttle lever is tightened or locked
in its middle position, the engine will not start.
Check that the throttle lever is in the fully closed
position.
IMPORTANT: never stop the engine when it
is running at full speed, the engine may deterio-
rate prematurely. Reduce the engine speed by 1
minute at minimum idle speed before shutting
down.
OPERATING THE TRIMMER
WARNING: always place the motor head to
your right side. If you place the trimmer motor
on your left side, you will be exposed to the mo-
tor heat and muffler outlet, this can cause pos-
sible serious injury.
Hold the trimmer with the right hand on the
rear handle and the left hand on the front “D“
handle. Keep a firm grip with both hands while
in operation. Trimmer should be held at a com-
fortable position with the rear handle about hip
height.
Always operate trim-
mer at full throttle.
Cut tall grass from the
top down.
This will prevent grass
from wrapping around
the drive shaft housing
and string head which
may cause damage
from overheating.
If grass becomes wrapped around the string
head, stop the engine, disconnect the spark
plug wire, and remove the grass. Prolonged cut-
ting at partial throttle will result in oil dripping
from the muffler.
WARNING: in addition to head, eye, face and
ear protectors, wear shoes to protect your feet
and improve your balance on slippery surfaces.
Do not wear ties, jewelry or loose clothing that
can be caught by moving parts of the machine.
· Do not wear open footwear, or be barefoot or
with bare legs.
· In certain situations you should use full protec-
tion for the face and head.
· Pay attention not to back off and push the
blade.
SAFETY HARNESS
1. Mount and adjust the shoulder harness and
belt.
2. Adjust the shoulder harness button, and
move the hook to your waist, then adjust the
belt (if there is a belt).
3. Engage the harness latch on the handle.
WARNING: the hook is located on the right
hip and the quick release latch is located on the
outside.
4. If the trimmer does not balance, adjust the
harness hook and handle until it is balanced.
5. To quickly disassemble the harness trimmer,
pull the quick release latch upwards;
6. Insert the tongue of the clip into the slot of
the quick-release latch to replace the trimmer
in the harness.
WARNING: before using, check the shoulder
harness and confirm that it is okay.
In case of danger, stop the trimmer immediately
and pull the quick release latch; the trimmer will
separate from your body.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE USE OF THE
TRIMMER
• Keep the trimmer tilted toward the area being
cut; This is the best cutting area.
• The trimmer cuts when the unit is passed from
right to left. In this way the release of waste to-
wards the operator is avoided. Avoid cutting in
the dangerous area which is closest to the pro-
tective guard.
• Use the tip of the thread to make the cut; Do
not force the thread head towards the uncut
grass.
• Wire and stakes fences cause additional thread
wear, including breakage, as well as stone and
brick walls, cords and wood can quickly drain yarn.
• Avoid touching trees and shrubs. Tree bark,
wood trim, wall coverings and fence posts can
easily be damaged by the thread.
BLADE ON TRIMMER GUARD
This trimmer is equipped
with a cutting blade of
wire installed in the protec-
tive guard. For best results
in trimming, advance the
thread until the blade cuts
it to the proper length.
NOTE: advance the thread whenever you hear
that the motor is running faster than normal, or
when the cutting efficiency decreases. This will
maintain a better performance and keep the
thread at a sufficient length to advance prop-
erly.

DECORATIVE CUT
To make a decora-
tive cut around trees,
posts, fences, etc., turn
the whole unit so that
the cutting head is at
an angle of 30 ° to the

BORDERING
During cutting at the
edges and lowering

BLADE CUTTING
There are many types of blades, the most com-
monly used are the following.
The 3/4 “diameter cut-
ting blade is used to cut
weeds and weeds. Only
the blade of 255 mm of
3 blades can be used in
this type of trimmer.
WARNING: do not use the cutting blades to
cut trees.
WARNING: do not use a steel blade to edge
or scrape.
WARNING: do not cut with dull, cracked or
damaged blades. Before cutting tall grass, in-
spect the area for obstructions such as stones,
metal stakes or broken fence wire. If an obstruc-
tion can not be removed, mark your location
so you can avoid it with the blade. Rocks and
metal will wear or damage the blade. The cables
can snag on the head of the blade and flap or
launch into the air.
KICKBACK: the blade thrust is the reaction that
can occur when the blade (while it is running)
contacting something that can not be cut. This
contact can cause the blade to stop for a mo-
ment and, suddenly, “push” the machine away
from the struck object, enough for the operator
to lose control of the trimmer. Kickback of the
blade can occur without warning if the blade is
caught or jammed. This is more likely to occur in
areas where it is difficult to see the material be-
ing cut. To cut safely, get close to the weeds that
will be cut from right to left, in case it is the case
that an unexpected object or dangerous mate-
rial is found; this could minimize the backlash
reaction of the blade.
WARNING: IN CASE OF EXCESSIVE VIBRA-
TION - STOP THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY.
Excessive vibration of the blade means that it is
not installed correctly. Stop the engine immedi-
ately and check the blade.
Incorrectly installed sheet will cause injuries.
WARNING: the cutting area is dangerous
while the machine is stopping.
NOTE: NOISE AND VIBRATION.
1. Low speed operation can reduce noise and
tremor.
2. To reduce noise, the brush cutter should be
used in an open environment.
3. The vibration can be reduced if the handle is
held firmly.
4. To avoid disturbing others, the machine must
be operated during the day.
5. Wear personal protective equipment, such as
gloves and ear protection during operation.
6. The machine is not for professional work and
is not for a prolonged operation.
7. To maintain the physical condition of the user
and prolong the life of the machine, do not
work more than 2 hours in a whole day and do
not continue working more than 10 minutes at
a time.

MAINTENANCE
IMPORTANT: BEFORE USING THE MACHINE,
PERFORM MAINTENANCE OR CHANGE OF AC-
CESSORY, READ THE “PERIODIC MAINTENANCE
TABLE” ON PAGE 20.
WARNING: use only original manufacturer’s
replacement parts, accessories and attachments.
Failure to do so can cause possible injury, poor
performance and may void your warranty.
REPLACING THE NYLON THREAD
1. Insert the hex key (2) into the specific hole
in the drive angle (3) and turn the key seal (4)
by hand until the hex key enters the inner hole,
blocking the rotation.
2. Make sure that the slots in the key seal (4) fit
perfectly with the transmission angle (3).

3. Attach the wire head (1) by screwing it coun-
terclockwise (viewed from the head).
4. Remove the hexagonal wrench (2).
REPLACING THREAD
1. Turn the stopper knob counterclockwise and
remove it.
2. Remove the empty spool from the thread
head. Keep the spring attached to the spool.
3. Cut up to 2 m of thread to place it on the reel.
4. Hook one of the ends of the nylon in the head
and wind it, make sure that you place the two
threads in the slots opposite each other in the
new reel.
5. Thread the threads through the guides on the
spool.
6. Thread the threads through the eyes in the
thread head. Carefully push the spool on the
thread head (pull the threads out slightly if nec-
essary). When placing the spool on the thread
head, hold the threads and pull them hard to
disengage them from the slots in the spool.
Press and turn the spool counterclockwise until
it stops. Grasp the spool and turn it slightly to
the right. Release the spool. The spool must be
secured in the thread head. Otherwise, hold it
and turn it until it engages.
Make sure that the thread head and the spool
retainer are installed on the drive shaft.
Pull the threads again to rotate the spool to the
cutting position. Press the spool retainer while
pulling the thread or threads, to advance it to
advance manually to verify the correct assembly
of the thread head.
7. Position the retainer and make sure that the
ends of each wire protrude approximately 6 in.
(152 mm) of each slot.
FUEL TANK CAP SERVICE
A breather passage is incorporated in the tank
cap. If the breather passage is clogged, the fuel
will not flow into the carburetor, causing prob-
lems with starting or running the engine.
At the same time, make sure that the base of
the breather assembly is fitted firmly into the
groove inside the tank cap as shown below.
AIR CLEANER SERVICE
Clean the air cleaner element every 20 hours.
• Remove the air cleaner cap from the air clean-
er case by removing the air cleaner cap screw.
• Remove the element from the air cleaner case.
• Wash the element in detergent and water, and
dry it thoroughly.
• Reinstall the element in the air cleaner case
and reinstall the air cleaner, and tighten the
screw.
NOTE: improper element cleaning can result in
engine damage. Do not use compressed air to
clean or dry element. Always clean element with
an approved high flash point solvent only. Never
use gasoline. Do not operate engine with air fil-
ter parts removed.
FUEL FILTER SERVICE
Every 20 hours of operation.
• Pull the fuel filter out from the fuel tank.
• Clean the fuel filter
in a bath of high flash-
point solvent.
• Dry the fuel filter and
reinstall it into the fuel
tank.
NOTE: if a fuel still does not flow well after the
cleaning, replace the fuel filter with new one.
IMPORTANT: many solvents are highly flam-
mable and may cause serious burns. Improper
use of solvents can result in fire or an explosion.
Do not use gasoline or low flash-point solvents
to clean the fuel filter. Clean only in a well-venti-
lated area away from sources of sparks or flame,
including any appliances with a pilot light.

SPARK PLUG SERVICE
Every 50 hours of operation
• Take the spark plug cap with fingers, and pull
it up.
• Remove the spark plug by using a suitable
plug wrench.
• Clean the electrodes by scraping or with a wire
brush to remove carbon deposits and wetness.
• Inspect for cracked porcelain or other wear
and damage. Replace the spark plug with a new
one if necessary.
• Check the spark plug gap and reset it if neces-
sary. The gap must be between 0.6 and 0. 7 mm.
To change the gap, bend only side-electrode, us-
ing a spark plug tool.
• Install and tighten the spark plug to 14 Nm
(1.4 kgf/m).
• Fit the spark plug cap on the spark plug se-
curely.
• Pull up the spark plug cap lightly to make sure
of the installation of the spark plug cap.
STORAGE
STORAGE (LESS THAN 1 MONTH)
1. Clean all foreign material from the trimmer.
Store it in a well-ventilated place that is inac-
cessible to children. Keep away from corrosive
agents such as garden chemicals and de-icing
salts.
2. Abide by all ISO and local regulations for the
safe storage and handling of gasoline. Excess
fuel should be used up in other 2 - cycle engine
powered equipment.
STORAGE (1 MONTH OR LONGER)
1. Drain all fuel from tank into a container ap-
proved for gasoline. Run engine until it stops.
2. Clean all foreign material from the trimmer.
Store it in a well-ventilated place that is inac-
cessible to children. Keep away from corrosive
agents such as garden chemicals and de-icing
salts.
3. Abide by all ISO and local regulations for the

TROUBLESHOOTING
ENGINE WON’T START OR OUTPUT IS LOW
Insufficient compression:
Faulty piston, cylinder and piston ring. Consult
an authorized service center.
Loose spark plug. Loose cylinder bolts. Tighten
properly.
No fuel to combustion chamber:
No fuel in fuel tank. Fill fuel tank.
Blocked fuel Mer or tube. Clean it.
Blocked air vent in tank cap. Clean it.
Faulty carburetor. Consult an authorized service
center.
Spark plug fouled by fuel:
Over-rich fuel/air mixture. Turn lift up lever to
“RUNNING” position. Move the choke lever to
“OPEN” position. Pull recoil starter grip with
spark plug removed to discharge excess fuel.
Clean spark plug.
Clogged air cleaner. Clean it.
Faulty carburetor. Consult an authorized service
center.
Incorrect grade I type of fuel. Water fuel.
Change fuel.
No spark or weak spark:
Faulty spark plug. Replace spark plug.
Faulty ignition coil. Consult an authorized ser-
vice center.
Engine switch left in “0” (stopping) position.
Turn engine switch to “I” (starting) position
LOW OUTPUT
Engine overheats:
Clogged air cleaner. Clean it.
Recoil starter or cooling air path clogged with
dirt. Clean it.
Carbon built-up in combustion chamber. Con-
sult an authorized service center.
Poor ventilation around engine. Select a better
location.
