RF8000isdesignedforleveldetectionandsimplepumpcontrolinavarietyofapplications:
•Liquids,solids(powderandgranules),slurries,interfacedetection(forexample,oil/water),andfoamdetection
•Foodsandpharmaceuticals
•Chemicalandpetrochemical
•Highpressureandtemperature
Function
RF8000isaversatilecapacitanceswitch,idealforleveldetectionofinterfaces,solids,liquids,slurries,andfoam,andfor
simplepumpcontrol.
Theswitchrespondstothepresenceofanymaterialwitharelativedielectricconstantof1.5ormorebydetectinga
changeincapacitance,whichisregisteredasachangeinoscillatingfrequency.
Theswitchcanbesettodetectbeforecontactoroncontactwiththeprobe.TheRF8000requiresaconnectionto
earth/groundforeffectivecapacitancemeasurement.
Thepowersupplyisgalvanicallyisolated.
Thematerialsusedintheprobeconstructionprovideahighlevelofchemicalresistance,andanexcellenttemperature
ratingontheprocesswettedportionoftheprobe:upto400°C(752°F).
RF8000isavailableintwomodels:thestandardmodel,andthedigitalmodelwithintegrallocaldisplay.

RF8000carriesoutitslevelmeasurementfunctionaccordingtothesetofbuilt-inparameters.Youcanmakeparameter
changeslocallyviathelocaluserinterface,orfromaremotelocationviaaPCusingSIMATICPDMsoftware.
RF8000Digitalcanbeusedeither:
•asastandaloneunit,programmedlocallyusingthelocaluserinterface,or
•installedaspartofanetwork,programmedremotelyusingSIMATICPDMonProbusPAnetwork(orlocally
usingtheLocalUserInterface).
Alarm signalling
Thesolid-stateswitchcanbesettoreacteithertoadiagnosedfaultintheinstrument,ortoachangeintheprocesslevel.
Fault Signalling
RF8000canactivelyreportinformationonitsownstatusviaPROFIBUSPAwhenusedaspartofanetwork,orbymeans
ofapre-denedoutputstatusatthesolidstateswitchandontheLocalUserInterface(LUI).

•Relaycontactterminalsareforusewithequipmentwhichhasnoaccessiblelivepartsandwiringwhichhas
insulationsuitableforatleast250V.
