Important Safety Instructions
When using your telephone equipment, basic safety precautions should always be followed
to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and injury, including the following:
1. Read and understand all instructions.
2. Follow all warnings and instructions marked on the product.
3. Unplug this product from the wall outlet before cleaning. Do not use liquid or aerosol
cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning.
4. Do not use this product near water (for example, near a bath tub, kitchen sink or
swimming pool).
5. Do not place this product on an unstable surface such as a table, shelf or stand.
The product may fall, causing serious damage.
6. Slots and openings in the back or bottom of the Base Unit and Handset are provided
for ventilation. To protect them from overheating, these openings must not be
blocked by placing the product on a soft surface such as a bed, sofa or rug. This
product should never be placed near or over a radiator or heat register. Nor should
this product should not be placed in any area where proper ventilation is not
provided.
7. This product should be operated only from the type of power source indicated on
the packaging. If you are not sure of the type of power supply in your home, consult
your dealer or local power company.
8. Do not allow anything to rest on the power cord. Do not install this product where
the cord may have anyone walking on it.
9. Never push objects of any kind into this product through slots in the Base or Handset
as they may touch dangerous voltage points or short out parts that could result in
a risk of fire or electric shock. Avoid spilling liquid of any kind on the product.
10. To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not disassemble this product, but take it to
an authorized service facility. Opening or removing parts of the Base or Handset
other than specified access doors may expose you to dangerous voltages or other
risks. Incorrect reassembling can cause electric shock when the product is
subsequently used.
11. Do not overload wall outlets and extension cords as this can result in the risk of fire
or electric shock.
12. Unplug this product from the wall outlet and refer servicing to an authorized service
facility under the following conditions:
A. When the power supply cord or plug is damaged or frayed.
B. If liquid has been spilled onto the product.

Charge the Battery

Removable Handset Plate and Base Plate
Your gz2404comeswith additionalHandset and BasePlates ofvarious colors. Youcan
interchangethese platesto suit yourpersonal tastesand room decor.
Handset Face Plate
Carefullyremove theHandset faceplate by prying up from the notch at the bottom ofthe
plate.Re-attachby snapping the upperportionoftheplateintopositionfirst,thensnapping
thelowerportionintoposition.
Base Plate
Carefully remove the Base plate by prying up from the notches located at the bottom
front and back edge of the plate. Align the new Base plate, making sure the antenna
passes through the appropriate slot. Secure the plate by snapping it into position.

Whena callerleaves amessage inyour voicemailbox, the MESSAGE light onthe Base
Unitwillflash.Inaddition, the Handsetwilldisplay:
Aftercallingyourvoicemailserviceandlisteningtoallnewmessages,theindicatorswillbe
turnedoff withina fewseconds after you complete your call.

LIGHT OFF? YES
You can retrieve your voicemail messages from any telephone. If the indicators remain on
after all new messages have been reviewed, you can turn them off manually:
1. Make sure the Handset is off.
2. Press PROG.
3. Press or until the screen displays MESSAGES WAITING.
4. Press SELECT. The screen displays:
5. Use or to choose YES or NO. Press SELECT or PROG to confirm. If you choose
YES, the MESSAGES WAITING animation on the Handset and the MESSAGE light on
the Base will turn off.
Temporary Tone Dialing
If you have pulse (rotary) service, you can change from pulse to touch tone dialing
during a call by pressing */TONE. This is useful if you need to send touch tone signals
for access to telephone banking or long-distance services.
1. Dial the number.
2. Press */TONE. Buttons pressed after this send touch tone signals.
3. After you hang up, the phone automatically returns to pulse (rotary) service.
Operating Range
This cordless telephone operates within the maximum power allowed by the Federal
Communications Commission (FCC). Even so, this Handset and Base can communicate
over only a certain distance — which can vary with the locations of the Base and Handset,
the weather, and the construction of your home or office. For best performance, keep the
Base antenna fully upright.
If you receive a call while you are out of range, the Handset might not ring — or if it
does ring, the call might not connect when you press PHONE. Move closer to the Base, then
press PHONE to answer the call.
If you move out of range during a phone conversation, you might hear noise or
interference. To improve reception, move closer to the Base.
If you move out of range without pressing OFF, your phone will be left off the hook. To
hang up properly, walk back into range, periodically pressing OFF.

The gz 2404 is also equipped with a
detachable belt clip. Align the pins on the
inside edge of the clip with the notches on
thesidesoftheHandset.Thebeltclipshould
snap securely into place. Do not force the
connection.
Your gz 2404 Handset is equipped with a 2.5mm Headset Jack for use with an optional
accessoryHeadsetforhandsfree operation. Ifyouchooseto use theHeadsetoption,you
mustobtainanoptionalaccessoryHeadsetwhichiscompatiblewiththegz 2404.Forbest
resultsuse a VTech 2.5mm headset.
Topurchase a Headset, call VTechCustomer Serviceat 1-800-595-9511.
Once you have a compatible 2.5mm Headset, locate the Headset Jack on the gz2404
Handset.Connectthe plugon the Headsetcord to thejack (underasmall rubberflap)on
thecordless Handset.The plugshould fit securely. Do not force the connection.

• Make sure the telephone line cord is plugged firmly into the Base Unit and the

orindication, the batterypack needscharging.
No Dial Tone
• Firstcheck allthe suggestionsabove.
• Ifyoustill don’thear a dialtone, disconnect theBase Unitfromthe telephonejack and
connectadifferentphone. If thereisnodial tone onthatphoneeither, the problemisin
yourwiring or localservice. Contactyour localtelephone company.
You Get Noise, Static, Or A Weak Signal Even When You’re Near The
Base Unit
• Householdappliances pluggedinto the same circuit as the BaseUnit cansometimes
causeinterference. Try to move theappliance orthe BaseUnit toanother outlet.
You Get Noise, Static, Or A Weak Signal When You’re Away From
The Base Unit
• Youmay be out of range.Either move closer to theBase, or relocate the BaseUnit.

Your telephone has a durable plastic casing that should retain its luster for many years.
