How the Machine Makes Ice
The m chine is in St nd-by mode when plugged in. When the ICE button is
pressed, it will utom tic lly proceed to the ice-m king st ge.
There re two distinct cycles: Freeze nd H rvest. During the Freeze cycle,
w ter flows to the ev por tor surf ce. In the H rvest cycle, the ice is rele sed.
A complete cycle c n t ke 15 to 40 minutes, depending on mbient
temper ture nd oper ting conditions.
Freeze: During the Freeze cycle the compressor is pumping refriger nt, the f n
motor is blowing ir, nd the w ter pump is circul ting w ter. When
the b tch of ice h s been fully formed, the ice m ker stops the Freeze
cycle nd begins the H rvest cycle.
Harvest: During the H rvest cycle the compressor is still oper ting, but the
w ter pump h s stopped. The hot g s v lve opens, diverting hot
refriger nt g s into the ev por tor. The g s w rms the ev por tor,
c using the cubes to slide s unit off the ev por tor nd into the
stor ge bin. The Freeze cycle will rest rt when ll the cubes drop
into the bin.
How the machine uses water:
E ch b tch of ice is m de of fixed ch rge of w ter which enters to the w ter
t nk in sever l times during the ice-m king st ge. As the w ter flows to the
freezing ev por tor surf ce, the w ter will freeze nd stick to the ice cube
molds, nd fresh w ter enters the w ter t nk discontinuously s the w ter from
the t nk freezes continuously on the ev por tor.
