Press the button to open the tailgate.
When using the remote control, the tailgate
is only unlocked if the key slot in the button
is in the horizontal position.
If the key slot is in the vertical position, the
tailgate is always locked.

To open the right rear door, pull on the
handle andpull open the door. Toopen the
left rear door, turn the handle on the inside.
When using the rem ote control, the rear
doors are onlyunlockedifthe key slot in the
lock is in the vertical p osition.
If the key slot is in the horizontal position,
the rear doors are a lways locked.

Pull out the seat belt and engage
it in the belt buckle
The seat belt must not b e twisted andmust
lie snugly a gainst the body. The backrest
must not be tilted back too far (maxim um
approx. 25°).
To release belt, press red button on belt
buckle.

Reverse gear: With the vehicle sta tionary,
lift the ring under the gear-lever knob

then engage the gear.
If the gear does not engage, p ut the lever
into neutral, release the clutch pedal and
depress again; then repeat gear selection.

Steering c olum n lock a nd ig ni tion
Turn key to position 1. Move the steering
wheel slightly to release the steering
column lock.
Starting the engine
Depress the c lutch and brake ped als,
Easytronic 3in N , do not acc elerate ; for
diesel e ngine, turn ke y to p osition 2; when
control indicator !goes out turn the key
to position 3 and release it when the engine
is running.
To repea t the start procedure or switch off
the engine, turn the key b ack to 0.
To switch on the ignition, turn the key to 2.

Parking the vehicle
zAlwa ys apply ha ndb rake firmly without
op erating the release button, and apply
as firmly as possible on a downhill or
uphill slope.
zSwitch off the engine and ignition by
turning the ignition key to 0 and
removing it. Turn the steering wheeluntil
you can feel its lock enga ge (anti-theft
protection).
On vehicles with Easytronic 3, control
in d i c a to r Rflashes for a few seconds
after the ig nition is switched off if the
handbrake has not been applied.
zIf the vehicle is parked on a level surface
or an up hill s lope, wit h a m anu al
gearbox select first gear or with
Easytronic 3mov e the selector lever to
the centre position before switching off
the ignition. Also turn the front wheels
away from the kerb if the v ehicle is on an
uphill slope.
If the vehicle is on a d ownhill slope, with
manual gearbox or Easytronic 3se lect
reverse gear before switching off the
ig nition. Also turn the front w heels
to w a rd s t h e ke rb .
zLock the vehicle with the key in the lock
or the pbutton on the remote control.
Activate the anti-theft locking system 3
and Vauxhall alarm system 3by
pressing the pbutton twice.
Advice when parkin g
zDo not park vehicle on easily ignitable
surfaces as the hot exhaust system
temperatures could cause the surface to
ignite.
zClose windows.
zThe engine cooling fans may run after

Airbag system
The airbag system consists of several
internal systems.
Front airb ag system 3
The front airbag system will be triggered in
the event of a serious ac cident involving a
frontal impact and forms safety cushions
for the driver and front passenger. The
forward movement of the driver and front
passenger is checked and the risk of
injuries to the upper body a nd head
thereby substantially reduced.
Side airb ag system 3
The side airb ag system triggers when a
side-on collision occurs a nd provides a
safety barrier for the driver and/or
passenger in the respective front door
area. This reduces the risk of injury to the
up per body considerably in case of a side
impact.

Operating via the information
display menus
The menu options a re s ele cted via the
menus and with the button/four-way
button or the m ulti-func tion b utton of the
infota inm ent system 3or via the buttons 3
on the steering wheel. The menu options
app ear on the displa y.
