W en using t e vacuum cleaner, basic safety precautions s ould always
be observed, including t e following:
1. Only use t e vacuum cleaner indoors on dry surfaces.
Do not andle t e plug or vacuum cleaner wit wet
ands. Do not use outdoors or on wet surfaces.
2. Turn off t e vacuum cleaner controls before disconnecting or
connecting from t e mains supply.
3. Always unplug t e vacuum cleaner before connecting or
disconnecting t e vacuum ose and accessories.
4. C ildren s ould be supervised to ensure t at t ey do not play wit
t e appliance.
5. T is appliance is not intended for use by persons
(including c ildren) wit reduced p ysical, sensory
or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge,
unless t ey ave been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of t e appliance by a person responsible for
t eir safety.
6. Use only as described in t is manual. Use only Vax
recommended attac ments.
7. Do not use t e vacuum cleaner if it as been dropped,
damaged, left outdoors or dropped into water. Do not use t e
vacuum cleaner wit a damaged cord or plug. If t e supply cord
is damaged, it must be replaced by t e manufacturer or a
recommended Service Agent to avoid azard and invalidating
t e guarantee.
8. Do not pull or carry by cord. Do not use t e cord as a andle,
close a door on t e cord or pull cord around s arp edges or
corners. Do not run t e vacuum cleaner over t e cord.Keep t e
cord away from eated surfaces.
9. Do not put any objects into openings. Do not use wit any
openings blocked and do not restrict air- flow. Keep all
openings free of dust, lint, air or anyt ing t at mig t reduce
airflow.
10. Keep air, loose clot ing, fingers and all parts of t e body away
from openings and moving parts.
11. Do not pick up ot coals, cigarette butts, matc es or any ot,
smoking or burning objects.
12. Do not pick up flammable or combustible materials (lig ter
fluid, petrol, kerosene etc.) or use in t e presence of explosive
liquids or vapours.
13. Do not vacuum up armful or toxic material (c lorine, bleac ,
ammonia, drain cleaner etc.).
14. Do not vacuum up ard or s arp objects suc as glass, nails,
screws, coins, etc.
15. Do not use wit out ALL of t e filters in place.
16. Take extra care w en vacuuming on stairs.
17. Keep vacuuming area well lit.
18. Store t e vacuum cleaner in a cool, dry area.
19. Turn off t e on/off switc before unplugging t e
vacuum cleaner
20. Use only CE-approved 13 amp extension cords. Non-approved
cords may over eat. Care s ould be taken to arrange t e cord
so t at t e cord cannot be tripped over.
WARNING: Always switc off and unplug t e vacuum
cleaner from t e electrical socket before assembling, opening
or emptying t e dirt container, or before connecting/disconnecting
t e attac ments.
CAUTION: T e vacuum cleaner is a very powerful unit.
Before plugging t e cord into t e electrical socket, make sure
t e switc is in t e ‘off’ position.
IMPORTANT: If t e inlet, ose or telescopic tube is blocked,
switc off t e vacuum cleaner and remove t e blockage(s)
before re-starting t e vacuum cleaner. See Maintenance:
Clearing blockages.
IMPORTANT: Was ing filters improves vacuum performance.
Vax recommends t at t ey s ould be c ecked and cleaned
periodically (depending on t e level of use). Make sure all filters are
completely dry before inserting back into t e vacuum cleaner.
IMPORTANT: T e motor is equipped wit a t ermal cut-out.
If for any reason t e unit s ould over eat, t e t ermostat will
automatically turn t e unit off. S ould t is occur, unplug t e
vacuum cleaner from t e electrical outlet and turn off t e switc .
Remove dirt container and empty. Clean filters. Allow t e unit to cool
for approximately one (1) our. To re-start, plug into an electrical
outlet and switc back on.
T is vacuum cleaner is intended for ouse old use only and NOT
for commercial or industrial use.
