INSTALLATION and OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
THIS LEAFLET MUST BE AVAILABLE TO THE USER
The product you have purchased is an extractor fan
for exhausting directly outside or through ediu
lengths of ducting and is suitable for wall, ceiling or
window (with optional kit) installation. To ensure opti-
u operation and guarantee a long life, please read
this anual carefully. It explains how to install correct-
ly, use and aintain the product properly. Following
these instructions will ensure the reliability of the prod-
uct and extend its working life.
The manufacturer w ll not be held respons ble and
w ll not accept any respons b l ty for damage caused
to persons or th ngs due to mproper use w th refer-
ence to the precaut ons outl ned n th s leaflet.
The product, constructed using state of the art tech-
nology, co plies with current standards regarding
electrical equip ent. It confor s with the EMC
2014/30/UE European Directive regarding radio
interference suppression and electro- agnetic co -
patibility.

• Do not use this product for any purpose other
than that for which it was designed.
• Re ove the product fro its packaging and ake
sure that it has not been da aged. If in doubt,
contact the supplier, authorised dealer, service
centre or anufacturer to check that the product
will still operate correctly. Do not atte pt to use
or repair the product before doing this.
• Do not leave packing aterial within the reach of
children or unskilled people. To dispose of the pack
aging and the appliance at the end of its useful life
refer to the recycling rules in force.
• The use of any electrical product requires co pli
ance with so e basic rules which are listed below:
- do not touch it with wet or da p parts of the
body (e.g hands, feet).
- this appliance can be used by children aged
8 years and over, and people with reduced
physical, sensory or ental capabilities or lack
of experience and knowledge f they have been
given supervision or instruction concerning use
of the appliance in a safe way and understand
the hazards involved. Children shall not play with
the appliance. Cleaning and user aintenance
should not be carried out by children without
supervision.
• The product should be connected to the ains
electricity supply or electrical outlet only if:
- the electrical voltage and frequency correspond
to those shown on the rating label.
- the capacity of the electricity supply is sufficient
to operate the product at its axi u power.
- suitable electrical protection is provided for the
product to be installed.
• The electrical supply to which the fan is connected
ust co ply with all existing regulations. All instal-
lations ust co ply with current IEE wiring regula
tions.
• Before aintenance or cleaning is carried out, the
product ust be switched off and disconnected
fro the ains electricity supply.
• If a fault, alfunction or ano aly of any type occurs,
the fan should be isolated (switching it off and dis-
connecting it fro the ains electricity supply) and
advice sought fro qualified personnel.
• Always request original spare parts for repairs
• If the product needs to be re oved, turn off the
ains supply circuit-breaker and then disconnect
the fan.
• The fan MUST BE installed as detailed in
this leaflet

WARNING: Damage could be caused to the product

• The product should not be used in an a bient
te perature higher than 40°C (104°F).
• The product should not be exposed to at os-
pheric agents (rain, sun, snow, etc.).
• The product or its parts should not be placed in
water or other liquids.
• Routine aintenance as described below should
be carried out to check the condition of the fan.
• The air or fu es being extracted ust be clean
and free fro greasy particles, soot, che ical and
corrosive agents, fla able or explosive ixtures.
• The product must be nstalled by profess onally
qual f ed personnel. Incorrect nstallat on can
cause damage to people, an mals or property,
for wh ch the manufacturer cannot be held
l able.
• The product ust be connected to the electricity
supply via a double pole switch of a suitable size,
with contact openings of at least 3 .
• If the electrical supply board (or switching device)
is located so e distance fro the fan a eans of
local isolation ust be provided.
• To ensure opti u operation, do not block the
air intake and exit vents.
• Any ducting used ust be free of blockages, and
should be insulated if in an unheated area.
• The roo where the product is operating ust
have adequate air replace ent to ensure ax
u effectiveness.
• If the product is sited in a roo containing a
fuel burning appliance which is not of the bal-
anced flue type, the installer ust ensure that
air replace ent is adequate both for the fan
and the fuel burning appliance
• The product ust not be used as an activator
for water heaters, stoves, etc.
• The product ust not exhaust into ducts
designed to evacuate fu es fro co bustion
in stoves or other co bustion-powered devices.

EL1003 - this fan co bines the latest technology
with energy saving and efficiency. It is a quiet running,
3 speed fan. It is designed to run continuously at a
pre-selectable choice of 2 trickle speeds (fixed at
installation). The user can boost the fan speed to its
axi u perfor ance when required by eans of
the cord or re ove the cord and use a re ote
switch, light switch, PIR sensor or hu idistat. The

EL1003DT - 3 speed, continuous running fan with
delay-on ti er and pull cord. The delay-on ti er ver-
sion will run at low speed until the boost speed is
activated by eans of the cord or, if the cord is
re oved, by eans of a re ote switch, light switch,
PIR sensor or hu idistat. There is a 2 inute delay
before the fan starts to run at its high speed - if the
boost speed is deactivated before that ti e lapse,
the fan will continue to run at low speed. If the boost
speed is activated, the fan will operate at high speed
until the boost switch is turned off. After this, the fan
will continue at high speed for the length of ti e set
on the ti er overrun adjust ent, between 0 and 30
ins. (See page 8). After the overrun ti e has
elapsed, the fan will return to the slower speed.
EL1003HDT - 3 speed, continuous running fan. The
fan runs continuously at the pre-selected lower
speed, and the boost (speed 2) will start to operate
auto atically when the relative hu idity (adjustable
between 40% and 90% +/-5% tolerance) reaches
the pre-set level and will continue to operate at this
speed until the hu idity has been dispersed and the
adjustable over-run ti er (adjustable fro 0 to 30
inutes) has co pleted its cycle. The boost speed

N.B Th s fan s NOT su table for use w th a

a Cowl or F xed Gr lle.
IMPORTANT
If the fan is installed in a ceiling with a vertical duct
passing through an unheated space, a condensa-
tion trap MUST be fitted. Any ducting in an
unheated space should also be insulated according
to the latest Building Regulations reco enda-
tions in the Do estic Ventilation Co pliance
Guide.
Failure to do this could result in condensation
affecting the operation of the fan and cause da -
age to the ceiling.
Additionally for ceiling installation the pull-cord
switch should be put in the "off" position and the
cord re oved. A re ote switch will be necessary
for changing the fan speed - see wiring diagra s
on following page.

and the cord removed.

TRIMMER ADJUSTMENT
To adjust the hu idistat and ti er tri ers,
re ove the front cover of the fan (Fig 2) to
access the tri ers.
The hu idistat (HY) can be adjusted
between 40% and 90% relative hu idity.
Turn clockwise to decrease sensitivity and
set at a higher level of relative hu idity.
The ti er (TM) is adjustable between 0 and
30 inutes. Turn the tri er clockwise to
increase the overrun ti e, or anti-clockwise
to decrease it.
MAINTENANCE
Before any aintenance or
cleaning operation, switch off
the fan and disconnect it fro
the ain power supply. The
front cover can be cleaned
with a dry cloth or soft brush
The fan ust not co e into
contact with any kind of liquid
or solvent. If this should occur,
contact a qualified technician
before reasse bling the fan.
NOTE: The motor does not
requ re lubr cat on as t s
ma ntenance free "sealed for
l fe" type.
