1. Introduction
1.1. Overview: Detailed instructions on installing the Verus Engineering side splitters for the 987
Porsche Cayman.
1.2. Difficulty: Easy
1.3. Time Required: 1-1.5 hour

2. 987 Cayman Side Splitter
2.1. Verus Engineering is not responsible for damage to you or your vehicle by following this
manual and/or installing Verus Engineering products.
2.2. We begin by either jacking the vehicle up or lifting it up on the lift. We personally found it
easiest to leave the car on the ground as on the lift, the arms got in the way during the
install.
2.3. First, let us get the hardware ready for install. Install the M6 BHCS through the billet pieces
as shown below. Ensure the bolt head is on the flat side of the billet piece.

2.4. Snug the bolt into the billet piece. Only snug is necessary.
2.5. On the other side of the component, install the M6 x 25mm OD washer with the thin jam
nut. Leave this loose as shown below.
2.6. We need to remove the (5) plugs per side. These are circled below.
2.7. A single unit is shown below.
2.8. Remove these by pulling down. We used finger strength to pull them out; but needle nose
pliers are another option.
2.9. With the rubber plugs removed; some of the underbody sealant will remain hanging down.
This is shown below.

2.10. Utilizing a razor, we can remove some of this. The more you can remove and make flat,
the better.
2.11. We can now install the assembly into the holes in the chassis as shown below.
2.12. Tighten the jam nut onto the washer with the 10mm wrench. You will have to hold the
bolt with your fingers to tighten the nut.
2.13. We can now test fit the side splitter. Due to manufacturing tolerances of both the
vehicle and the carbon, the slots may need a little bit of massaging to fit the locations on the
Cayman.
2.14. Utilizing either a drill with a drill bit, or a dremel and some sanding discs or router, we
can open the slot in the direction necessary.

2.15. Once the side splitter can be installed on the hardware, we can install the double sided
tape on the side splitter.
2.16. It is *highly* recommended to follow 3M’s VHB install instructions, which are listed in
these steps below. The ambient temperature should be over 50 degrees F. 50% of the
ultimate bond strength will be achieved after 20 minutes, 90% after 24 hours, and 100%
after 72 hours.
2.17. Clean the area the double sided tape will be installed on with a 50/50 mix of alcohol and
water.
2.18. Install the double sided tape on the side splitter as shown below.
2.19. The side splitter is now ready to be installed on the Cayman.
2.20. Utilize the remaining hardware to install the side splitter on the car. This should be an
M6 x 18mm OD washer and an M6 serrated nut.

2.21. Now that we know where the double sided tape will be installed on care, we need to
clean this area with alcohol and water mix.

2.22. Pull the backing off the double sided tape.
2.23. Install the double sided tape portion onto the car, kneading it to attempt and get as
much adhesion as possible. Hold the side splitter on the Cayman for about a minute initially.
