The VTS-8589 board s an all- n-one d g tal s gnage k t for Open Pluggable Spec f cat on (OPS) systems.
Compl es w th OPS board standard, the VTS-8589 board s powered by a 1.0GHz NXP .MX 6QuadPlus
(or .MX 6Quad) Cortex-A9 quad-core SoC w th power eff c ent graph cs processor to del vers
remarkable performance for a w de range d g tal s gnage appl cat ons.
The VTS-8589 board s fully compat ble w th L nux kernel 4.1.15 / 3.10.53 operat ng system, and prov des
support for extens ve connect v ty opt ons, nclud ng and G gab t Ethernet port, two USB 2.0 ports, and
M cro SD card slot for expandable storage. In add t on, the VTS-8589 board has an onboard W -F
controller for W -F connect v ty.

2.1.4. Reset Button
The VTS-8589 comes w th a reset button on the front panel. The reset button allows the user to reboot or
reset the system forc bly w thout turn ng off the system power.

2.1.5. Open Pluggable Spec f cat on Plug Connector
The VTS-8589 comes w th an Open Pluggable Spec f cat on (OPS) plug connector on the back panel that
prov des hardware nterface connect ng the OPS board to the OPS d splay or OPS I/O card. The OPS plug
connector conta ns s gnal groups of HDMI, USB 2.0, UART, GPIO, aud o, and power (12V~19V) nterfaces.

2.2. Onboard Connectors
2.2.1. RTC Battery Connector
The VTS-8589 s equ pped w th onboard RTC battery connector used for connect ng the external cable
battery that prov des power to the 32.768KHz crystal osc llator for Real T me Clock (RTC). The p nout of
the RTC connector s shown below.

2.2.2. W -F Antenna Connector
The VTS-8589 s equ pped w th an onboard W -F antenna connector (m cro-RF connector) used for
connect ng the W -F antenna cable to prov de W -F connect on. The W -F antenna connector s labeled
as “VCC_WIFI”.

3. Onboard Jumpers
Th s sect on w ll expla n how to conf gure the VTS-8589 board to match the needs of your appl cat on by
sett ng the jumpers.
Jumper Descr pt on
A jumper cons sts of pa r conduct ve p ns used to close n or bypass an electron c c rcu t to set up or
conf gure part cular feature us ng a jumper cap. The jumper cap s a small metal cl p covered by plast c. It
performs l ke a connect ng br dge to short (connect) the pa r of p ns. The usual colors of the jumper cap
are black/red/blue/wh te/yellow.

There are two sett ngs of the jumper p n: “Short and Open”. The p ns are “Short” when a jumper cap s
placed on the pa r of p ns. The p ns are ”Open” f the jumper cap s removed.
In add t on, there are jumpers that have three or more p ns, and some p ns are arranged n ser es. In case
of a jumper w th three p ns, place the jumper cap on p n 1 and p n 2 or p n 2 and 3 to Short t.
Some jumper s ze s small or mounted on the crowded locat on on the board that makes t d ff cult to
access. Therefore, us ng a long-nose pl ers n nstall ng and remov ng the jumper cap s very helpful.
