IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
• High,prolongedfeverrequiresmedicalattentionespeciallyforyoungchildren.Pleasecontactyourphysician.
• Donotallowchildrentotaketheirtemperaturesunattended.
• Donotallowchildrentowalkorrunduringtemperaturetaking.
• Thethermometerisonlysuitableforthemeasurementofbodytemperature.Theuseofthisthermometerisnotintendedasasubstitutefor
consultationwithyourdoctor.
• Thethermometerisinitiallycalibratedatthetimeofmanufacture.Ifthisthermometerisusedaccordingtotheuseinstructions,the
accuracyofmeasurementswillnotbeaffected.
TEMPERATURE READINGS
Temperaturereadingsvaryfrompersontoperson.Althoughthereisnoone“normal”temperaturereading,atemperature,takenorally,
rangingbetween36.1°C/97°Fand37.7°C/100°Fisconsiderednormal.Arectaltemperatureisgenerally0.5°C/1°Fhigherandanunderarm
(axillary)temperaturewillbe0.5°C/1°Flower.
Thebestmethodtodetermineyourownnormaltemperatureistousethethermometerwhenyouarefeelingwell.Recordyourreadingtwice
aday(earlymorningandlateafternoon).Taketheaverageofthetwotemperatures.Thisisconsideredyournormalbodytemperature.Any
variationfromitmayindicatesomesortofillnessandyoushouldconsultyourphysician.
BEFORE USE
YourVicks®FeverInSight®Thermometerisa3-in-1thermometerfororal,rectal,orunderarmuse.Whichevermethodisused,it
isrecommendedthatfor15minutespriortouse,youavoideatingordrinking,exercising,takingshowersorbathsorsmoking.
OPERATING YOUR VICKS®FEVER INSIGHT®THERMOMETER
1.TURNING THE THERMOMETER ON
• TurnthermometeronbypressingtheOn/Offbutton(Fig. 1).
• AbeepsignalwillsoundandthedisplaywillashRed/Yellow/Greenfor1second.
• Waitforthethermometertogetready
–Thedisplaywillshowatestvalue(Fig. 2).
–Thedisplaywillshowlastmeasurementfor2seconds (Fig. 3).
–Afterabout5seconds,thedisplaywillshowit’sready(Fig. 4).
2.SELECTING WHERE TO TAKE THE TEMPERATURE
Oral Use
• Itisimportanttoplacethetipofthethermometerwellunderthetonguetogetagood,accurate
reading.(Fig. 5) Placesensortipinareasmarkedwith“4”.
Keepmouthclosedandsitstilltohelpensureanaccuratemeasurement.
• Whenthepeaktemperatureisreached(usuallywithin12seconds),5beepsignalswillsound
andthe“°C/°F”signwillstopashing.Thetemperaturemeasurementisnowreadytoreadand
willnotchangewhenthethermometerisremoved.
• Washthethermometerasrecommended
Under-the-arm (Axillary) Use
Thismethodcanbeusedforbabiesandyoungchildren.
• Wipetheunderarmwithatowel.
•
Placetheprobetipunderthearmsothetipistouchingtheskinandpositionthearmnexttothebody(Fig. 6).
Withayoungchild,itissometimeshelpfultohugthechildtokeeptheirarmnexttotheirbody.
Thisensuresthattheroomairdoesnotaffectthereading.
• Whenthepeaktemperatureisreached(usuallywithin11secondsbutsometimeslongerforthis
method),5beepsignalswillsoundandthe“°C/°F”signwillstopashing.Thetemperature
measurementisnowreadytoreadandwillnotchangewhenthethermometerisremoved.
Note: This method produces a temperature reading 0.5°C / 1°F lower than if the temperature were
taken orally.
• Washthethermometerasrecommended.
Rectal Use
Commonlyusedforbabies,youngchildren,orwhenitisdifculttotakeanoralorunderarmtemperature.
• Laythepatientonhis/herside.Forababy,theproperpositionistolayonitsstomachwithlegshanging
down,eitheracrossyourkneesorattheedgeofabedorchangingtable.Thispositionstheinfant’s
rectumforsafeandeasyinsertionofthethermometer.
• GentlyinsertthetipofthethermometerNOMORETHAN1cmintotherectum.Ifyoudetectresistance,
stop.Holdthethermometerinplaceduringmeasurement.
• Whenthepeaktemperatureisreached(usuallywithin10seconds)5beepsignalswillsoundandthe
“°C/°F”signwillstopashing.Thetemperaturemeasurementisnowreadytoreadandwillnotchange
whenthethermometerisremoved.
NOTE: This method produces a temperature reading 0.5°C / 1°F higher than if the temperature were

• Washthethermometerasrecommended.
3.READING THE MEASUREMENT: FEVER INSIGHT®FEATURE
TheVicks®FeverInSight®Thermometercomeswiththepatented“FeverInSight®”featurewhichoffersacolorindicator
withthetemperaturereading.Thisfeaturewillhelpyouexplaintoyourchildthemeaningoftemperature.Italsohelps
bydistractingyourchildfrompossiblefearassociatedwithtemperaturetaking,especiallywithyoungchildren.
• Forreadingsbetween36.1-37.1°C/97-98.8°F,thescreenwilldisplaygreenasthebacklightcolorindicatingthetemperatureis
withinthe“normal”range.
• Forreadingsbetween37.2-38.2°C/99-100.7°F,thescreenwilldisplayyellowasthebacklightcolorindicatingaslightelevation
intemperature.
• Forreadings38.3°C/101°Fandabove,thescreenwilldisplayredasthebacklightcolorindicatingpossiblefever.
TheFeverInSight®featurecontinuesforabout5seconds.
4.TURNING THE THERMOMETER OFF
TurnthethermometeroffbypressingtheOn/Offbutton.Ifyouforgettoturnitoff,thethermometerwillautomaticallyturnoffafter
approximately11/2minutes.
CHANGING TEMPERATURE SCALE FROM °C TO °F OR °F TO °C
Whenthepowerisoff,pressandholdtheOn/Offbuttonfor4seconds,whenthe“M”symboldisappears,releasethebuttonandpressthe
buttontoswitchfrom°Cto°For°Fto°C.After3secondsidle,thethermometerentersintotheready-for-measurementmode.
CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
• Cleanthethermometerbywashingitwithsoapandwarmwaterorrubbingalcohol(70%isopropylalcohol).
• Wipedrywithsoftcloth.
• DONOTBOILORWASHINDISHWASHER.Thiswillcausethethermometertonolongerfunctionandwillvoidthewarranty.
• Donotwashwithanythinnerorchemicalsolvent.

TEST PROTOCOL
(Laboratory use only)
1. Placethermometerintoastableliquidbathwithtemperaturesetabove35°C(95°F).Thetipofthethermometershouldbe
approximately0.8inches(2cm)belowthesurface.
2. Waitfor10seconds,thenturnthermometeronbypressingtheblue“On/Off”button.
3. Whenthemeasurementiscompleted(approximately8seconds),recordthetemperaturereading.
CHANGING THE BATTERIES
TheVicks®FeverInSight®Thermometerfeaturesalonglifebattery.Whenthe“ ”appearsandashesinthecentertopofthedisplay,the
batteryisexhaustedandneedsreplacing.
1.Usingacoin,unlockthebatterycoverandcarefullyremovethebatterywithanon-metallicinstrument.
2.Replacethebatterywitha3V,CR1225lithiumtypeorequivalent.Insertthenewbatterywiththepositive(+)sidefacingthebatterycover.
3.Carefullyputthebatterycoverbackinplaceand,usingacoin,tightenthecover.
4.Properlydisposeoftheoldbattery.Keepoutofreachofyoungchildren,elderlyandpets.
LIFETIME WARRANTY
Thisproducthasbeenproducedwiththegreatestcarefornormal,householduse.Followingdirectionscarefullywillensuredependableoperation.Iffor
anyreason(otherthanmisuseornormalbatteryoperation)youaredissatisedwithyourVicks®FeverInSight®Thermometer,wewillrepairorreplaceit,
atouroption,atnochargeduringthelifetimewarrantyperiod.Modicationtotheproductbytheconsumerisnotauthorisedandvoidsthewarranty.
Ifthethermometerdoesnotfunctionproperly,rstcheckthebattery.Replaceifnecessary.Batteriesandpackagingareexcludedfromthewarranty.
Ifyouexperienceunsatisfactoryoperation,pleasecontactFeltonGrimwade&Bosisto’s.Ifrepairisrequiredunderthewarrantyperiod,theproduct
