Vicon Kollector Elite User manual

To Log In to the ViconNet Application:
1. From power-on, the system will boot and Login window displays the last logged in user.
2. In the User Name field, enter your assigned user name. If you are an administrator entering for the first
time, enter admin. If you are a guest, enter guest.
3. In the Password field, enter your assigned password.
NOTE: If you are a guest, you do not need to enter a password. If you are an administrator entering the
application for the first time, you do not need a password. After logging in as admin, it is recommended to
assign yourself a password.
4. Click . The ViconNet Main window is displayed, as shown in the following section.
Functions on the Main ViconNet Window:
Used to manage preconfigured macros
in the system.
Used to view and generate reports.
Used to configure the entire ViconNet
system.
Used to logout of ViconNet and login as
another user.
Used to close ViconNet and shutdown
the recorder.
Used to identify the
current user and
Master Nucleus.
Used to display current recorders, workstations and devices in the system.
Used to report an estimate of the recording time remaining until data is overwritten and the total number of
cameras and microphones currently recording in the system.
Used to report the current operational state of the Scheduler.
Single: Enables you to view one camera.
Two-by-two matrix (Quad): Enables you to view four cameras simultaneously.
Hexa (Six): Enables you to view six cameras simultaneously.
Three-by-three matrix: Enables you to view nine cameras simultaneously.
Four-by-four matrix (Sixteen): Enables you to view sixteen cameras simultaneously.
Full Screen: Enables maximizing a single video display location to fit the entire screen.
Functions on the Navigator Window:
Used to display the current storage location sources, recorders,
workstations and devices, and defined archives.
Tab Description
Displays all recorded segments for the selected cameras and microphone for the last 24 hours
Displays all recorded segments for the selected cameras and microphone for the last 72 hours
Displays all recorded segments for the selected cameras and microphone for the last 7 days
Displays all recorded segments for the selected cameras and microphones
Used to place each selected camera from the Recorded Device Contents area will display in the Main ViconNet Window for
viewing and playback.
NOTE: The current default video display location is indicated by the pink border and can be changed by clicking on a
different location. Only one camera can be placed in each video display location. For example, if display mode Quad is
selected, only four cameras can be selected in the Recorded Device Contents area and, therefore, displayed in the Main
Window Display Location area.
Option Description
Zooms in on the segment and simultaneously updates the Time Interval Map accordingly.
Zooms out of the selected segment, returning the area to its previous display status.
Used to change the number of video display locations.
Used to search for a specific camera’s video based on item location and detected video motion.
Used to return to the Main ViconNet Window and playback the selected video and audio as configured.
Used to playback all selected video segments simultaneously.
Option Description
Creates a new archive, which includes specifying the archive location, name, and contents.
Enables you to remove an archive and all its contents.

Front Panel Components:
•Keyboard Port: A USB-type connector used to connect a standard PC keyboard (not included).
•Mouse Port: A USB-type connector used to connect an optical mouse.
•Status LEDs: Used to indicate what the Kollector Elite is doing, for example, scanning for attached cameras or recording.
•Keylock: Used with the provided key to lock the front door.
•Power Switch: Used to power on the recorder.
•LED Indicator: Used to display the power status (ON means recorder on and OFF means recorder off).
•Front Cover: Used to protect the Kollector Elite's front panel from unauthorized use.
•Floppy Drive: Used as a removable data drive.
•CD-RW Drive: Used as a high-capacity removable data drive.
Rear Panel Components:
•Video Looping Outputs: DB-15 connectors used with provided cables to loop the video inputs out.
•PTZ Connections: Screw terminal block used for RS-422 PTZ connections.
•Video (Camera) Inputs: Standard BNC-F connectors used for analog camera video input.
•SMSR Connections: Standard RJ-45 jack used for connection to SMSR box associated with each video channel. SMSR boxes are used to connect
sensors, microphones, speakers and PTZ cameras.
•Power Switch: Used to power on and off the power supply of the recorder.
•Power Receptacle: Used to connect the provided Power Cable.
•Keyboard Port: A PS-2 (mini-DIN) type connector used to connect the provided PC keyboard.
•Mouse Port: A PS-2 (mini-DIN) type connector used to connect the provided optical mouse.
•Network Port: A standard RJ-45 connector used to connect to a LAN/WAN.
•USB Connectors: Used for optional devices.
•Parallel Port: Used for general printing.
•Serial (COM) Port: Used to connect system serial devices.
•Speaker Output: Mini phono-type connector (green color) used for sound card audio output.
•VGA and LCD Monitor Outputs: Used for video output to a monitor. Several outputs exist including S-Video, composite, DVI and VGA types.
Adapters are provided for use with all port options and vary by card type.
NOTE: Connector locations may vary according to type.
Installing the Kollector Elite
After the recorder is mounted permanently, follow the steps in this section to install the Kollector Elite unit hardware.
NOTE: The connection of external hardware may require simple hand tools. Do not apply power or plug-in the recorder to any outlet until instructed to do so.
Disable the AC power to prevent installer injury and damage to the unit.
To Install the Kollector Elite:
1. Locate the keyboard on a flat surface near the recorder. Connect the keyboard by inserting its connector into the correct
port.
2. Locate the mouse on a flat surface near the recorder. Connect the mouse by inserting its connector into the correct port.
3. Position the monitor in a permanent fixed location near the recorder. Connect the monitor by inserting its VGA connector
into the VGA Monitor Output port.
4. Insert one side of a standard LAN cable to the Network Port’s RJ-45 connector. Insert the other RJ-45 connector into the
LAN side of the network.
5. Gather and locate all camera video input cables near the rear of the recorder. Insert each BNC-M into its respective
Video (Camera) Input port (1 – 16).
6. Mount the provided Termination Boxes in a fixed permanent location near the recorder. Insert one end of the provided
RJ-45 Cable Assembly into the Termination Box, and insert the other end into the desired SMSR Connections port (1 –
16) on the recorder.
7. Insert the female end of the provided 120VAC Power Cable into the recorder's Power Receptacle. Do not connect the
remaining end to a power receptacle, via UPS unit, until instructed. If using 230VAC power, it will be necessary to obtain
a suitable power cord for use. This cable is a standard computer 230 VAC power cord.
8. Turn ON the Power Switch to the UPS and verify diagnostic indicators. Then power-on the recorder.
