INSTALLATION
ToinstalltheSFPintoanappropriatemodule,completethe
followingsteps:
InspecttheSFP.Ifdamaged,fileaclaimwiththecarrierandthen
contactADTRANCustomerSupport.
Ifpresent,donotremovetheprotectiveendcapfromtheSFP
untiltheCat5cableisreadytobeconnected.
1. InserttheSFPintotheSFPcageonthemodule.Ensurethe
latchontheSFPisfacingupwardforcorrectinstallation.
2. SlidetheSFPallthewayintotheSFPcageuntilthereisan
audible“click”.
♦ ThelatchontheSFPisusedtoremovetheSFPfromthecage
onthecircuitcard.
♦ TheSFPmeetsorexceedsalltheapplicablerequirementsof
NEBS,TelcordiaGR‐63‐CORE,andGR‐1089‐CORE.
COMPLIANCE
TheSFPportisclassifiedasType2orType4,asdefinedin
AppendixBofGR‐1089‐COREIssue5,andissuitablefor
connectiontointra‐buildingorunexposedwiringorcablingonly.
Donotmetallicallyconnectthisporttointerfaceswhichconnect
toOutsidePlant(OSP)ortotheOSPwiring.TheSFPportis
designedforuseasanintrabuildinginterfaceonly(Type2orType
4),andrequiresisolationfromexposedOSPcabling.
TheadditionofPrimaryProtectorsisnotsufficientprotectionin
ordertoconnectthisinterfacemetallicallytoOSPwiring.TheSFP
portissuitableforconnectiononlytoshieldedintra‐building
cablinggroundedatbothends.

inRestrictedAccessLocations.
