Introduction
The information in this instruction manual covers the installation of Models V10AH, V1000AH, V1600AH,
V2400AH and V30AH Adjustable Mounting Heads. These units should only be installed by a qualified technician
using approved materials in accordance with national, state and local codes. Read this manual through
completely before attempting installation.
Vicon’s Adjustable Mounting Heads allow a wide range of positioning angles for mounting closed-circuit
television cameras and camera housings. These heads accommodate light, medium, and heavy camera/housing
combinations and are intended for use with Vicon mounts. The use of adjustable heads affects the load rating of
the mount. Refer to the instruction manual for the specific mount. Refer to Table 1 for compatibility. The V10AH,
V1000AH, V1600AH, V2400AH, and V30AH Adjustable Heads do not require any maintenance. If the equipment
must be returned for repair, follow the Shipping Instructions at the end of this manual.

Installation
Installing the V10AH
The V10AH Adjustable Mounting Head is intended for use on various light-duty mounts and as a standalone
adjustable mount when there is no room for a standard mount.
The V10AH has a 1/4-20 x 9/32-inch (0.7 cm) full threaded hole in its base. When being used on a light-duty
mount, simply screw the adjustable head onto the mount. For standalone installations, install a lag bolt of
appropriate length at the installation location and screw the adjustable head onto the bolt.
Install the camera onto the 1/4-inch (0.6 cm) threaded stud on the V10AH according to the mounting directions
in the instruction manual for the camera. Releasing the lever on the side of the head allows positioning of the
head. Move the lever into the locked position when camera positioning is complete.
Installing the V1000AH
The V1000AH consists of a circular base, a mounting platform, and a clamping piece which fits into the platform.
The clamp has a 1/4-20 threaded hole in its center. The three components of this head are held together by a
1/4-20 hex-head bolt with flat washer and lock washer. The bolt is removed from the head assembly to secure it
to the mount; the relationship of the base, clamp and platform should be noted for easier installation. The
V1000AH is intended for use with the V114WM. To attach the head to the mount, follow the procedure below.
1. Insert the bolt, with washers attached, upwards through the mounting hole in the mount.
2. While holding the bolt in place, position the adjustable head assembly (platform, clamp and base) over the
bolt and then turn the bolt several turns into the head. Refer to Figure 1.
3. Determine the approximate direction and angle that the camera is to face. Tighten the bolt finger tight
followed by an additional 1/2 turn to lock.
Caution: Further tightening could damage the unit. Overtightening is not necessary.
4. Attach the housing/camera to the V1000AH according to the instruction manual for the camera or housing
and complete all cable connections. Two mounting holes (0.281 in. diameter) are provided.

5. To adjust the camera/housing position, loosen the hex-head mounting bolt sufficiently to allow the
camera/housing to be rotated and angled up or down to cover the exact scene to be observed. Retighten the
mounting bolt.

V1000AH Installation
Installing the V1600AH
The V1600AH consists of three parts, the circular base, the mounting platform, and the clamp, plus related
mounting hardware, including a 1/4-20 x 2-1/2 inch stainless steel hex-head bolt, a flat washer, and a 1/4-20
stainless steel hex nut. Additional washers may be present for packing purposes; these are not used in
installing the adjustable head. Note the relationship of the base, clamp, and platform before removing the hex
bolt for installation. Some units are packed with a corrugated cardboard piece which holds the parts in proper
relationship during shipping. Remove this cardboard and discard it.
The V1600AH is intended for use with the V1600WM Wall Mount or the V14LCM Column Mount. Installation is
different on each of these units. Follow the instructions for the appropriate mount described below.
Installation on the V1600WM
The 1/4-20 hex bolt, the 1/4-inch washer, and the 1/4-20 nut are required to install the V1600AH on the
V1600WM. Refer to Figure 2.
1. Place the round edge of the V1600AH base onto the mounting platform of the V1600WM.
2. Insert the clamp diagonally (with flat side facing up) inside the V1600AH mounting plate. Position the clamp
horizontally and lower it until it rests on the rounded edges of the mounting plate.

3. Place the V1600AH mounting plate with the inserted clamp onto the V1600AH base. Slide the washer onto
the 1/4-20 hex bolt and insert the threaded end into the bottom of the V1600WM, upwards through the hole
in the center of the mount. Place the hex nut on the bolt at the top of the clamp and hand tighten, followed
by an additional turn to lock. Make sure the nut is recessed in the hexagonal recess in the center of the
clamping piece.
Caution: Further tightening could damage the unit. Overtightening is not necessary.
4. To position the adjustable head, loosen the hex bolt on the bottom of the mount, adjust the head to the
desired position, and retighten the bolt.
5. Install the camera/housing according to the instruction manual for the camera or housing (four 0.281 in.
diameter mounting holes are provided) and complete all cable connections. Make any needed adjustments
to the V1600AH by loosening and retightening the bolt.

Installation on the V14LCM Mount
Remove the stainless steel bolt, nut, and washer(s) from the packing. The bolt and the 1/4-inch washer are
needed to mount the V1600AH head; the hex nut is not used. Refer to Figure 3.
1. Slide the washer onto the bolt and insert the bolt into the hole in the center of the clamp. Insert the clamp
diagonally (with flat side facing up) inside the V1600AH mounting platform. Position the clamp horizontally
and lower it until it rests on the rounded edges of the mounting plate. Note that there is a hexagonal recess
in the clamp. This recess is not used when mounting the V1600AH on the V14LCM. The 1/4-inch washer
prevents the head of the bolt from dropping into the hexagonal recess.

2. Slide the circular base onto the bolt so that the curved recess of the base mates properly with the curved
surfaces of the platform.
3. The square mounting plate at each end of the V14LCM has a 1/4-20 threaded hole located in the center of
the plate. Place the round base of the adjustable head against the square plate of the V14LCM and tighten
the bolt finger tight.
4. Align the platform in the approximate direction in which the camera/housing is to point and tighten the bolt
an additional 1/2 turn to lock.
Caution: Further tightening could damage the unit. Overtightening is not necessary.
5. Install the camera/housing according to the directions in the instruction manual for the camera or housing
(four 0.281 in. diameter mounting holes are provided) and complete all cable connections. Make any needed
adjustments to the V1600AH by loosening and retightening the bolt.

Installing the V2400AH
The V2400AH Adjustable Head consists of three parts, a circular base, a mounting platform, and a clamp, plus
related hardware which includes a 3/8-16 x 2.75 bolt and 3/8-inch washer. It is suitable for use on the V24WM,
V36WM and V2000WM Wall Mounts and the V14CM Column Mount. The installation procedure of the V2400AH
is the same for all mounts. Refer to Figure 3.
1. Remove the bolt and washer from the accessory bag. Slide the washer onto the bolt up to the head.
2. Insert the bolt through the clamp and the base. The washer prevents the bolt head from recessing in the
clamp. The threaded portion of the bolt protrudes about 3/8 inch (0.95 cm) from the bottom of the circular
base.

3. Align the mount in the desired direction. Thread the bolt into the appropriate threaded hole in the mount.
Tighten the bolt finger tight followed by an additional 1/2 turn.
Caution: Further tightening could damage the unit. Overtightening is not necessary.
4. Install the camera/housing according to the instruction manual for the camera or housing (three 0.281 in.
diameter mounting holes are provided) and complete all cable connections. Make any needed adjustments
to the V2400AH by loosening and retightening the bolt.
Installing the V30AH
The V30AH Heavy-Duty Adjustable Head is a two-piece pedestal assembly with baseplate. It can be used with
the V24WM and V36WM Wall Mounts and the V14CM Column Mount. The V30AH is shipped assembled. It
may be easier to install if the baseplate is detached from the pedestal assembly by removing the bolt/washer
securing the pedestal to the baseplate. Refer to Figure 4.
1. Secure the baseplate to the wall or column mount with four 3/8-in. hex bolts and nuts (not included).
2. Fit the mounting hole of the pedestal over the 1/2-in. baseplate stud.
3. Position the V30AH in the desired direction and secure with the 1/2-in. washer and nut (supplied).
4. Install the camera/housing on the mounting head according to the instruction manual for the camera or
housing (four 0.312 in. diameter mounting holes are provided) and complete all cable connections. To make
any needed tilt adjustments, loosen the bolts on the side of the pedestal and position the head as required.
Tighten the bolts. If the head needs to be repositioned, loosen the bolt, adjust the head, and retighten the
bolt.

2. Attach a sheet of paper to the unit with the following information:
a. Name and address of the company returning the unit
b. Name of the Vicon employee who issued the R.A.
c. R. A. number
d. Brief description of the installation
e. Complete description of the problem and circumstances under which it occurs
f. Unit’s original date of purchase, if still under warranty
3. Pack the unit carefully. Use the original shipping carton or its equivalent for maximum protection.
4. Mark the R.A. number on the outside of the carton on the shipping label.
