INSTRUCTIONS FOR
INSTALLATION AND OPERATION
MODEL V1600WM MEDIUM-DUTY OUTDOOR WALL MOUNT
1. INTRODUCTION
The information in this instruction manual covers the
installation of Model V16OOWM Medium-Duty Out-
door Wall Mount. This unit should only be installed by
a qualified technician using approved materials in ac-
cordance with national, state and local codes. Read these
instructions completely before attempting installation.
The V16OOWM Medium-Duty Outdoor Wall Mount is
designed to support camera stations weighing up to a
total of 40 pounds (18 kg), including pan-and-tilt or
scanner, camera/lens system, and housing. It is con-
strutted of die-cast aluminum alloy with a gray
semigloss enamel finish. This wall mount accepts an
optional adjustable head, Model V1600AH, and a vari-
ety of pan-and-tilt drives and scanners.
2. INSTALLATION
2.1 Unpacking and Inspection
All Vicon equipment is tested and inspected before
leaving the factory. It is the carrier’s responsibility to
deliver the equipment in the same condition as it left the
factory.
2.1.1 INSPECTION FOR VISIBLE DAMAGE
Immediately inspect the cartons upon delivery. Make a
note of any visible damage on all copies of the carrier’s
freight bill.
Make sure the carrier’s agent (the person making the
delivery) signs the note on all copies of the bill. If the agent
does not have claim forms, contact the carrier’s office.
2.1.2 INSPECTION FOR CONCEALED
DAMAGE
As soon as possible after delivery, unpack the unit and
inspect it for concealed damage. Do not discard the carton
or packing materials. If the unit is damaged, contact the
carrier immediately and request forms for filing a damage
claim. Make arrangements for a representative of the
carrier to inspect the damaged equipment.
If the equipment must be returned for repair, follow the
Shipping Instructions at the end of this manual.

2.2 Installing the V1600WM Wall Mount
NOTE: Use stainless steel hardware for all out- NOTE: Never use lag screws in the end grain of
door installations. wood.
Bolts or screws should preferably extend through the
structure with nuts and washers used on the opposite
side. If the mount must be attached to a blind structure
with no access to the rear, make certain that the fasteners
or studs used have a minimum pull-out strength of 400
pounds each. Studs should be either anchored in concrete
or welded to steel.
To install the V16OOWM, secure the aluminum base to
the wall surface with four (4) l/4-inch (0.635 cm) lag
screws or machine screws with appropriate nuts and
washers. A knockout cable port is provided for cabling.
See Figure 1 for mounting dimensions.
2.3 Installing the V1600AH
The V1600AH consists of three parts, the base, the
platform, and the clamp, plus related hardware. Note the
relationship of the base, clamp, and platform before
removing the hex bolt for installation. The stainless steel
l/4-20 hex bolt, l/4-inch washer, and the l/4-20 nut are
required to install the V1600AH on the V1600WM.
Some units are packed with a corrugated cardboard piece
which holds the parts in proper relationship during
shipping. Remove this cardboard and discard it. Refer
to Figures 2 and 3 throughout the following procedure.
1. Place the round edge of the V1600AH base onto the
mounting platform of the V1600WM.
2. Insert the clamp diagonally (with flat side facing up)
inside the V1600AH mounting plate. Position the
clamp horizontally and lower it until it rests on the
rounded edges of the mounting plate.
3. Place the V1600AH mounting plate with the in-
serted clamp onto the V1600AH base. Slide the
washer onto the l/4-20 hex bolt and insert the
threaded end into the bottom of the V1600WM,
upwards through the hole in the center of the mount.
Place the hex nut on the bolt at the top of the clamp
and hand tighten, followed by an additional turn to
lock. Make sure the nut is recessed in the hexagonal
recess in the center of the clamping piece.
CAUTION: Further tightening could damage the

unit. Overtightening is not necessary
4. To position the adjustable head, loosen the hex bolt
on the bottom of the mount, adjust the head to the
desired position, and retighten the bolt.
This completes the installation of the V1600WM and
V1600AH.
3. MAINTENANCE
The V16OOWM does not require any maintenance.
