Working on the system
■Isolate the system from the power sup-

check that it is no longer live.

Intended use
The appliance is only intended to be installed and
operated in sealed unvented systems that comply with
EN 12828 / DIN 1988, or solar thermal systems that
comply with EN 12977, with due attention paid to the
associated installation, service and operating instruc-
tions. DHW cylinders are only designed to store and
heat water of potable water quality. Heating water buf-
fer cylinders are only designed to hold fill water of pot-
able water quality. Only operate solar collectors with
the heat transfer medium approved by the manufac-
turer.
Intended use presupposes that a fixed installation in
conjunction with permissible, system-specific compo-
nents has been carried out.
Commercial or industrial usage for a purpose other
than heating the building or DHW shall be deemed
inappropriate.
Any usage beyond this must be approved by the man-
ufacturer for the individual case.
Incorrect usage or operation of the appliance (e.g. the
appliance being opened by the system user) is prohibi-
ted and results in an exclusion of liability.
Incorrect usage also occurs if the components in the
system are modified from their intended use (e.g.
through direct DHW heating in the collector).
Adhere to statutory regulations, especially concerning
the hygiene of potable water.

Vertical DHW cylinder made from steel with Cerapro-
tect enamel coating.
With immersion heater EHE for heating with surplus
electricity and with indirect coil for reheating by the
boiler.
Inspection and maintenance
DIN 1988 requires a visual inspection and (if neces-
sary) cleaning no later than 2 years after the cylinder
has been commissioned, and thereafter according to
requirements.
Note
In addition, we recommend an annual visual inspection
of the protective magnesium anode (see page 10).

1. Fill the DHW cylinder on the DHW side.
Note
When the DHW cylinder is pressurised, tighten the
screws in the flange cover. Max. torque: 25 Nm
2. Check the fittings on the heating water and DHW
side for leaks and tighten if required.
3. Check the function of the safety valves according
to the manufacturer's instructions.
Draining the DHW cylinder on the DHW side (if required)
1. Shut off the cold water supply.
2. Open the DHW draw-off points (to release the
pressure).
3. Drain the DHW cylinder from the drain valve in the
cold water supply.

1. Remove cover A and flange insulation B.
2. Disconnect earth cable C from tab D.
3. Connect tester in series across earth cable C and
tab D.
■If a current of > 0.3 mA can be measured, the
protective magnesium anode is OK.
■If a current of < 0.3 mA or no current at all can be
measured, inspect the protective magnesium
anode visually (see page 10).

Danger
Unchecked leakage of DHW or heating water
can result in scalding and structural damage.
Only open the DHW and heating water connec-
tions after the DHW cylinder has been depres-
surised.
1. Drain the DHW cylinder on the DHW side.
!Please note
Material losses may result from draining with
a vacuum pump when the air vent valve is
closed.
Open the air vent valve during draining.

3. Remove cap E, flange cover F and gasket G.
Dispose of gasket G.
4. Disconnect the DHW cylinder from the pipework to
prevent cleaning agents and contaminants from
entering the pipework.
5. Remove loose deposits with a pressure cleaner.
!Please note
Pointed or sharp cleaning tools will damage
the cylinder interior.
Only use plastic cleaning equipment to clean
the inside.
6. Use a chemical cleaning agent to remove hard
deposits that cannot be removed with a pressure
cleaner.
!Please note
Cleaning agents containing hydrochloric acid
will attack the DHW cylinder material.
Never use such cleaning agents.
Danger
Cleaning agent residues can cause poison-
ing.
Always observe the information provided by
the cleaning agent manufacturer.
7. Fully drain all cleaning agent.
8. Flush the DHW cylinder thoroughly after cleaning.

1. Disconnect the power supply and safeguard
against unauthorised reconnection.
2. Remove cap A, taking care with heating indicator
light B.
3. Remove heating indicator light B from the cap for
safekeeping.
Resetting the high limit safety cut-out
The high limit safety cut-out switches the immersion
heater off at a sensor temperature of 100 °C.

1. Remove cap A (see page 12).
The resetting feature B is red when locked.
2. Press resetting feature B with a screwdriver.
The resetting feature B turns black when
unlocked.
3. Refit cap A along with the heating indicator light.
4. Switch the power on again.
Note
If the high limit safety cut-out locks several times in a
row, the TR/HLSC (temperature controller/high limit
safety cut-out) combination device must be replaced.

Note
Ensure the cores are correctly allocated (see
page 14).
6. Refit cap A along with the heating indicator light.
7. Switch the power on again.

1. Remove cap A (see page 12).
2. Disconnect the heating element cables B from the
TR/HLSC combination device.
3. Remove retaining clip C.
4. Pull out heating element D.
5. Fit new heating element D.
Note
When inserting the new heating element, ensure
recesses E are correctly positioned at the head of
the heating element. There should be one recess
on the right, one on the left and one at the top.
6. Reattach retaining clip C.
7. Reconnect cables B.
8. Fit cap A with the heating indicator light.

nary household waste.
For decommissioning the system, isolate the system

down where appropriate.
