IMO Res. MSC 81(70) as amended – 15027-1 level D
The suit has been approved in accordance
with the LSA Code (International Life Saving
Appliance code, Resolution MSC.48(66)) and
MSC 81(70) and EN ISO 15027-1, performance
level D.
The device is in accordance with Council
Directive no. 89/686/EEC and has been type
examined by Force Certification A/S, NB0200,
Park Allé 345, 3605 Brøndby, DK.
The suit is categorized as following:
• Non-insulated immersion suit
• Constant wear suit (dry-type suit system) -
performance level D
Warning
This suit system does not perform as a
personal flotation device and will not turn an
unconscious wearer to a face up position.
This suit system has to be worn with a compatible
SOLAS approved lifejacket to maintain SOLAS
approval, or an ISO approved lifejacket
approved to EN ISO12402 part 2 or 3 to maintain
the ISO approval.
The suit system may increase the risk of heat
stress.
Important
Check that neck seal and wrist cuffs seal tightly
to prevent water penetration.
1. PERFORMANCE LEVEL
Thermal protection non-insulated immersion suit:
1 hour at 5 C°
Thermal protection constant wear suit -
performance level D:
2 hours at 10 C°
Please notice that protection against cold
water depends on the insulation of the suit in
correlation with water temperature.
Warning
Estimated thermal protection time according
to performance level D is based on standard
testing conditions in accordance with ISO
15027-3.
Other environmental conditions and personal
characteristics may change thermal protection
time.
2. REQUIRED UNDERCLOTHING
Always wear warm underwear, i.e. cotton
underwear (short-sleeved, short-legged), long-
sleeved heavy cotton shirt, cotton trousers,
woolen socks – calf length, two woolen long
sleeved pullovers and appropriate footwear.
3. TRAINING BEFORE USE
We recommend all users to participate in
training with the immersion suit in a swimming
pool to ensure that the user is familiar with the
immersion suit.
4. CLEANING (FIGURE 1)
See figure 1 or ship the immersion suit to a
servicing station. Find your nearest servicing
station on www.viking-life.com.
5. SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Store the suit in a cool, dark and dry place.
6. DONNING INSTRUCTION (FIGURE 2)
1. Remove hood and footwear.
2. Don the suit - legs first.
3. Zip the front zipper.
a) Put on the hood.
4. Don the lifejacket.
5. Don the gloves.
6. Jump into the water - feet first. Turn
onto your back. If necessary switch on
the locating light.
7. MAINTENANCE, INSPECTION AND REPAIR
Maintenance is an important factor for your
safety.

The suit should be checked at least once a
month in accordance with IMO MSC/Circ. 1047.
At the time of this monthly check, the front zip
must be lubricated with the enclosed lubricant.
VIKING recommends that the suit is inspected
at an approved servicing station once a year.
Repairs should be carried out by an approved
servicing station.

8. AFTER USE IN WATER
1. Rinse the suit exterior with fresh water.
2. Hang the suit to dry on a wide hanger
and allow to air.
3. When the immersion suit is dry, repack
the immersion suit in accordance with
instructions or keep it on a wide hanger.
9. PACKING THE SUIT (FIGURE 3)
1. Place the suit flat on the floor. Unzip.
2. Fold up the feet up to the crotch.
3. Fold the legs up over the feet.
4. Fold the sleeves across the chest.
5. Place the suit into the bag.
10. SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Store the suit in a cool, dark and dry place.
